The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Capcom’s Senior Project Manager Matt Dahlgren in an interview.

Well here’s the FANG Alt

FANG looks fabulous.

I did the the terrible mistake of going to the Capcom Unity board’s story thread…

https://45.media.tumblr.com/d105e799e538f996e4c1dc64904b0351/tumblr_n3y5jrIzSj1s2wio8o1_500.gif

It was a living nightmare. So much ignorance and misinformation. I really wanted to make an account and help them but I knew that it would consume me. There were no guarantees that they would listen either. Breathes

So I closed the window and came here. Safety in numbers, guys…

You can only do so much, Daemos. Remember, “He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.”

Is that what you want… to become a gasp Capcom Unity poster?

of course no one there is going to listen to you Dameos, overlord vasili10 has them under his thumb.

Oh god please no…

Those audio files are most likely part of the Character Stories (aka arcade mode or personal story mode), which may end up having no bearing on the actual canon of the series. I don’t think any of the actual Cinematic Story files leaked considering its release date, maybe some of the alt costumes but that’s it.

I also question the information from the Wiki (‘Street Fighter III supplementary books’). There is nothing from the games so far that suggests that the Illuminati have a hand in the creation of Shadaloo. The may have infiltrated the organization at a later date, but that remains to be confirmed. More likely, that the Illuminati saw an opportunity with Shadaloo and kept watch to make sure it aligns with their plans. This idea that the Illuminati had a hand in Shadaloo’s downfall doesn’t ring very true either. If they did, Urien wouldn’t be complimenting Chun-Li for bringing it down. The Illuminati’s interest in Shadaloo so far seems to be about achieving the prophecy, this more likely would require Shadaloo to succeed not fall.

It should be noted that both Rose and Bison are aware of this prophecy to some extent, as they have both seen this doomsday vision and Bison is aware that he will be its catalyst. So the ‘prophecy’ whether self-fulfilling or otherwise is not unique to the Illuminati, and Bison strives for it too for his own reasons.

Great first post @Jonire , Welcome to the forums.

Full disclosure - Everything about the Illuminati on the Wikia comes from the Vasili Plot Guide. Almost verbatim.

The Plot Guide mentions ‘Street Fighter III supplementary books’, so that’s the source of it.

Edit - I don’t think Urien really compliments Chun Li. He just mentions it in passing, ‘oh, you defeated those ‘‘guys’’ (he doesn’t even name it), it’d be interesting to fight you’. Plus Urien doesn’t really believe the shrills and frills surrounding the Illuminati lore. He just wants the power. Also, wouldn’t he be happy if someone threw a monkey wrench in Gill’s ascension?

SF5 will obviously retcon some details of SF3.

Kinda off-topic, but does anyone know where these are from:

Can’t seem to remember them from SF1.

Urien to Chun-Li

“Your legendary legs are said to have to destroyed that organization. Let me find out for myself if the rumors about you are true.”

That sounds like a compliment to me.

You wouldn’t remember them from a game because these are fan art illustrations. If you look closely at the red symbol in the bottom right corner you’ll see the that it reads; RGM501. He has a Deviantart page I’ll provide a link for below.

You want to see ignorance? Take a peep below…

Pretty much a casual view point of the Street Fighter story as of now.

Oh Capcom-Unity…

I remember when Capcom-Unity was a good community…said by no one ever. Sometimes I make myself read the stuff there just because I *can’t ***not **look. Shit is a cesspool.

Pretty sure this will be FANG and Bison’s first meeting. Fang’s probably off doing his mad scientist thing, Bison hears about him and wants him to work for him so he goes and whoops his ass and makes him swear loyalty.

Now the really interesting part will be whether FANG is actually loyal to Bison or he just agreed so could survive and think of a plan to betray Bison. My money on the second one.

What makes you think it is their first meeting though?

All the art and information so far released suggest that FANG not only is loyal to Bison, but that he is the most loyal. Obsessively and sycophantically loves everything about him. It’s too good to be true I think, which is why I think his attempt to poison Bison happens later in the story rather than during their first meeting.

If Charlie’s alpha costume is story related like Ken and Ryu’s are, and if they are gonna have a playable chapter for Charlie during Alpha days
wouldn’t that mean tweaking his moveset to be like Alpha days as he isn’t supposed to gain those fancy teleports by that point
or they gonna let that slip by due to gameplay reasoning and shit

A character’s gameplay is not necessarily indicative of all that they are capable of doing in the canon. All of Nash’s current moves fall within the realm of his abilities during the Alpha era. His teleport is not a teleport, it is in fact a ‘sonic move’ where he simply moves at incredible speed like The Flash for example.

Ken for example does a lot more in SF5 than in SF3, this doesn’t mean that developed amnesia or he is weaker canon-wise in SF3.

Yeah I was thinking that too,

Love you Daemos <3
