MKX wasn’t a retelling of MK4’s plot though. Johnny Cage’s Chapter is basically the story of MK4. Everything else is completely new ground that is overwriting and rewriting the future in this timeline. The events of Deadly Alliance/Deception will probably not happen as they did in the other timeline, but similar elements could be borrowed from them to remake a new story.
For example, Liu Kang died in both timelines, and Raiden became ‘evil’ in both timelines but the way those events came to pass is different in both. Shujinko dying (thank the elder gods!) doesn’t mean Onaga won’t come back in some capacity. It just means it will unfold differently.
No one is allowed to bad mouth Erron Black at all. That dude was a straight-up gift from Netherealm to me and I deeply appreciate it and his awesomeness.
I still think MKX’s story was a reimagining/reintroduction of MK4’s plot about Shinnok invading Earthrealm. Also I hope they don’t actually kill Shujinko, he’s fucking badass
Anyways, I’m definitely excited for the next game and what it brings in terms of story (since NRS doesn’t seem to be willing to expand the current game’s story via DLC).
Liu Kang and Kitana becoming the King and Queen of Netherrealm? The Regents possibly planning to invade Earthrealm for themselves? Raiden becoming evil and ready to fuck people up? COUNT ME IN!
I also want to know how Kotal Kahn plays into the future story and if he agrees to work with the Netherrealm. Although he seemed kinda neutral at the beginning of the game
I feel things are different with the arcade endings of MKX and believe the majority of them are likely to be canon. My reasons being
All the endings occur after the game’s story mode and most of them don’t contradict what happened in the story.
Unlike previous entries in the series, the arcade ending in MKX form a coherent narrative. Scorpion, Raiden, Kotal Khan and Quan-Chi endings all flow together. Same with some other characters like Erron Black > Jax > Sonya, and Takeda > Kenchi (Both of their endings are actually a brief retelling of Armageddon’s Konquest mode.) Some of the one-off endings serve to plant seeds for next game.
I still need to play it, but I went insane with glee watching tons of game footage (special intros, full storymode, etc) but am I crazy or would Lance Henrikson in his prime rock as him?
He’s just a total bad-ass. I love gun-slinging and 6-shooters thanks to growing up around an old-school John Wayne fan and an early love of Revolver Ocelot in MGS…so having a character like Erron in a fighting game was AMAZING
Holy shit, I’m watching the MKX unique intro dialogue compilation on YouTube. It took 7 parts to cover just the base roster (+ Goro), and that’s without DLC characters
Total runtime? Over 5 hours
Total line count? Over 1000
Imagine if Capcom could pay as much attention to SF5
MKX story fukin blows! They made my boy Kotal Kahn a god damned jobber. He lost to Kung Jin for fuqs sake.
(Yes i’m still salty)
Seriously though the only issue I have with the MKX story is how niggas be jobbing in it sometimes. It’s the same issue SCVs story had as well (amoung many other things). The comic that takes place before the main story is badass though. Kotal Kahn doesn’t job in there NRS!
Oh and soon Reptile will be a baraka level jobber no more.
Btw guys can someone tell me what the chances are that Nash is actually a prototype, or infact is, Twelve? I ask because I recently unlocked his ending in 3SOE and it seemed… Possible. I don’t really know the lore though, so i’ll be reading that up in my free time.
IIRC Jobber reptile is coming to an end as soon as Onaga gets introduced. Unless i’m remembering things wrong. Jobber Ermac needs to fuq off though this nigga was hyped up to job in MK9 and striaght jobbed all of MKX wtf?
In Reptile’s MKX ending he found the remnants of his race that never left Earthrrelam and abandoned Outworld to be with them. If the direction they’re taking him then I doubt he becomes Onaga’s vessel again in the new timeline. At best he’ll become their leader and have them be wildcards.
He isn’t the only one. Birdie’s occupation went from Ex-Shadowloo to Kanzuki family freeloader. Younger brother Sean was added to Laura’s likes in the latest build of the game.
I’m pretty sure the ‘Emissary of the Gods’ info was out from quite a while. Checking back on it, I knew this from the past four months atleast (8th September).
Necalli and ‘her’ also have a solar theme to their moves.
Necalli - Road of the Sun, The Disc’s Guidance, Raging Light. Valiant Rebellion too, but the reference is a bit obscure to be certain.
‘Her’ - Sun Shot, Sun Arch, Sun Delta, Sunburst, etc.
