The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Some of the winquotes and stuff talked about by the developers.

Interesting! I think the first picture supposed to be at sunset, with the reddish sun being reflected in her eyes. Knowing her otherwise ditzy personality, I’m guessing she’s trying to make a ā€˜fierce’ face for a picture.

The only Laura related image we need to discuss is this one.

Openly ironic but damn interesting doodles from my girlfriend’s cousin Capcom staff that explain Shadaloo’s hierarchies and rookies’ life. As written pages ago, they revived Akiman’s old concepts and ideas implementing them. I’m also fine with psycho popcorn. Translation needed.

6 Final Fight characters from the same franchise and at the same time? I think someone’s overstimating SFV. I think the game will have like 38 characters maximum, and there’s no way 6 of them are from Final Fight which is not even a Street Fighter game.

This Alpha thing should stop after they add Sodom and probably Eagle. And I’m partial to Maki, I mean, if you want someone to replace Guy she’s the perfect choice. Haggar and Maki would be the best choice for Final Fight characters.

I’d say fuck Rose, Gen, Guy, Adon, Cody, Dan, Sakura and Rolento. They’ve already been in the immediately previous games.

I actually like this idea of not bringing back the most people from SFIV. As for the Street Fighter III characters, I think Elena, Hugo, Poison, Makoto and Yang have little to zero chances.

Ibuki we can understand that because she’s pretty much the poster girl for the SF3 series, and while Dudley is held in high esteem, I think he’s far away from being a ā€˜must’. Maybe another returning character from SF3-SF4 would be Yun, I mean, he’s one of the favorite picks.

But after Alex and Urien, the next characters from SF3 to come back would be Sean and Oro, I’m sure, but of them have huge potential. But Twelve, Necro and Remy are pretty much dead on the water.

Now, these would be the next characters in my opinion.

2017
[E. Honda] Someone else from Street Fighter II has to come back, and Honda has potential. You have to drastically change his design and gameplay, to reflect. He could be awesome.
[Sodom] The last missing Alpha character.
**[Maki] **A swift character to bring in some variety. Her story can deal a conflict with Sodom or something.
[Oro] He could be really cool in SFV graphics.
[Yang] Sells.
[New character]

2018
[Sakura] Let’s face it, she’s going to return.
[Abel] Street Fighter 4 characters have to come back.
[Sean] Sister’s already in, so he can drop. Might be Sakura’s rival or something.
[Akuma] Whenever he can slip.
[C. Viper] Street Fighter 4 characters have to come back.
[New character]

2019
[Rose] Need more female.
[Haggar] FINALLY.
[Sagat] Well, he’s SF2 and he’s a legend.
[Dan] Bonus character or whatever.
[Eagle] Some Street Fighter I random?
[New character]

So, on the topic of Final Fight, I have a really strange question: Are the cutscenes/interactions in Final Fight One, a GBA remake of the first Final Fight, canon? Probably not the Alpha Cody/Guy ones, but what about Cody/Guy/Haggar? Some interesting exchanges happen in that game:
-Young Cody is serious and determined; implied to go apeshit when Abigail says Belger’s ā€œhaving funā€ with Jessica
-When Guy reaches the Sodom fight, Sodom tries to speak Japanese and fails spectacularly
-When Haggar confronts Belger, Belger claims that young people join Mad Gear because it’s their best opportunity in the slums of Metro City
-Alpha Cody is kind of creepy; he really enjoys fighting, sort of breaks the 4th wall with Edi.E and Abigail, and really enjoys fighting the bosses
-Alpha Guy, unlike Cody, realizes he’s gone back in time to 1989 and wonders if the experience is meant to teach him and Cody something

Whoa whoa whoa. That…is a whole lot of crazy to take in.

Star Gladiator is supposed to be the ā€œSTAR WARSā€ saga of the Capcom Universe, right?

ā€œAnoā€ means ā€œbuttā€ in Spanish, LOL.

The discussion was mostly about anticipated characters/character requests through the prism of storytelling. There is another thread dedicated entirely for unadulterated and general character requests for this kind of stuff.

Many of the characters in the Shadaloo tree appear in the backgrounds. Curious to know who is that robot-like figure with a ā€˜mohawk’.

Anyway, translations badly needed. Cipher? Vasili? Anyone? :how_interesting:

Thought that was mecha Gief.

Some things to point out about the Shadaloo hierarchy bracket. 4 kings aside, Fang may have a set of personal body guards or scientist to himself.
The Dolls also seem to have apprentices, or trainees as well. The guy in the red hood directly under Bison is the ā€œsorcererā€ featured in the background of the 4 Kings stage, he is labled ā€œSeniorā€. Directly under him is ā€œIntermediateā€; which are the guy’s featured in the hanger stage. This also happens to be Woshige’s rank. Directly under that is ā€œJuniorā€, which are the grunts in blue uniform.

Next bracket seem’s to be a cyborg, and his subordinate under him. The next one may be a field scout or spy, although I’m not quite sure.
I can make 3 out of the 4 ranks on the far left bracket; chef, surgeon, and radio dj, although the top one alludes me. Public relations possibly; 広報, so maybe a Shadaloo PR agent.

Dude, come on, seriously. ā€œVideosā€ and ā€œProofā€ are not mutually exclusive things.

Give up? Nigga, you’ve been asked a simple thing - show the magazines you’re referring to that claim about certain material being canon or non-canon.

So if you’re so sure that such magazines carry and weight and substance behind them - why not just show them? Guess what - you realised you have no proof about those magazines existing in the first place - so you back up on your words like a bitch

Fuck outta here and shut the fuck up. Don’t even try to post anything in this thread because from now on we’re just gonna ignore you entirely, since all you do is show a brainless hivemind behavior just because some random japanese noname forum members/magazines depict certain SF-related content as (non)canon

Yeah, because making an Arab character evil is gonna work out really well in these times

Whoa! I have got to learn more about this. AAAAH, I freakin’ love breakdowns of how organizations work. I love that we’re finally getting real insight to the structure of Shadaloo.

What I really love is the humorous way it is presented. I love the second image, the energy bar in the pouch kills me, hahaha!

That energy bar is godlike. 800kcal can keep you energized for one year!

Then you can imagine the amount of excess energy Birdie has. Each can of Devil Calorie he drinks are 4000kcal a piece! That on top of everything else he eats, and you can see why he bulked up so quickly. No wonder why he’s the heaviest character in canon so far.

It’s pretty much never a good idea to say that X isn’t established as canon when there’s already plenty of evidence that X was already established as canon. Please do yourself a favor and dig into Warrior’s Fate a bit…

Honestly, I think only having them as non-heel characters is even more insulting by being pandering and treating an entire group of people as delicate flowers. Besides, cultures tend to LOVE kick-ass villains so long as they aren’t playing on maligned stereotypes. Rashid isn’t a religious fanatic or anything of the like. Nor is he an evil spirit or wicked vizier. Additionally, giving him a heel turn wouldn’t have to be making him into Bison Jr…it could just be establishing him as a rival of someone else. Give him some more personality.

In fact, the series needs more and better rivals in general. Fuerte was such a missed opportunity…he should have been a rudo luchador (as per one of his ā€œevilā€ alt costumes) and been an amazingly awesome rival to Zangief. Hurricane vs. Cyclone. It’s also a great reversal of David & Goliath if Zangief is the good guy and Fuerte is kind of a cheating douche nozzle. Be even better if it’s just the character Fuerte portrays and, otherwise, he’s kind of a cool guy…but once the mask is on, the rules are out the window because…TRADITION! Sigh…what a waste of a character…

It’s the same reason I wish they’d firmly established Dudley as a rival to Ryu with the outcome of their fights being unknown and up in the air in any given confrontation. SF needs more competition and, despite all of our love for story, it needs a hefty dose of combat rivalry and sportsmanship based on nothing more than conflicting/complimentary personalities and the will to win.

Street Fighter needs to bring back the STREET in its name.
