Sneaky Capcom, they released 2 stills featuring the same artwork, only one partially hides the Goutetsu art, while the other leaves it uncovered.

Another detail I glanced over, the Karin manga that’s going to be featured will be done by none other than her creator; Nakahira himself.

You can just add him as a bonus non-canon character, or justify his presence as a fighter by making him playable in a flashback in the story mode. There are endless ways to make this happen.

Waste of resources IMO because there are characters more relevant, unique, popular, and/or deserving than him. He’s probably Akuma and Gouken in one character plus a few new gimmicks. He’ll appeal to the ‘ermagawd badass’ crowd mostly, and they would rather have Akuma or Evil Ryu.

We’ve never seen his gameplay, we can’t assure he’s not unique.

How’s Goutetsu not deserving? He’s a freaking legend within the storyline.

Gouken itself is a character who’s radically different to Akuma. I’d like to see what Goutetsu’s gameplay would be like.

I would say scrap Gouken, Akuma and Evil Ryu this time and bring on Goutetsu. He should be a cool alternative.

Goutetsu was killed and buried more than 20 years before SF5. His story which played a key role in several characters’ trajectories already played out. Everyone from that time has moved on, and became their own person in part because of his death. The overall story itself moved on from then as well.

Gen was never killed or died.
Bison is immortal.
Gill can resurrect himself.
Gouken’s body was unaccounted for (fell down the waterfall IIRC).
Charlie’s body was unaccounted for (fell down a waterfall and/or exploding base).

The only person that actually and unequivocally died in the series is Goutetsu, and if he was going to come back he would’ve by now. Yes, they can retcon this, but they shouldn’t IMO. We’re moving forward.

For the record, they shouldn’t bring back Evil Ryu ever, and I would be perfectly happy if Gouken and Akuma skip SF5 altogether.

But it’s just like comics. Even if someone dies, they can always find a way around it, as disappointing as that may be to some. With what they seem to be setting up with resurrection and body transferring, I really wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back in some fashion.

Maybe his essence can come back in the body of Ingrid. Then everyone will be happy.

Yeah Go Hibiki too my bad. Chun-Li’s father would be dead too (he had a grave in SF2) but SF4 seemed to imply that his body is unaccounted for too, and implied that there is something else regarding his death we are yet to know.

Goutetsu can be ‘playable’ if for example they make the character for a flashback chapter in story mode, but he remains dead. So that the character is selectable for gameplay purposes only. Although I doubt Capcom are the type to do this.

So why would Goutetsu be back? What was he doing for the last 20 years? There’s nothing reasonable for him. The Ansatsuken arc has moved on to the next generation with Ryu and Ken fast becoming masters in their own right. All that is left now is for them to prove Goutetsu/Gouken right about their version of their art, defeat Akuma, and live happily ever after with their students/family.

I honestly wish they’d retcon Decapre being kidnapped from Russia and Cammy being her modified clone. The Cammy being a clone of Bison story is just so stupid for multiple reasons.

While I like the idea of Decapre being the original, I would have to say there is nothing wrong with Cammy being Bison’s clone. Its like X-23 being Wolverine’s clone.
