Alright, what exactly is this? Is it really a newsletter by Capcom itself? Also, when was it published? And why do the characters on the left look so amateurish?
Can somebody please translate what the flyer says?
I would love a plot twist of FANG betraying Bison when he realises Shadaloo’s fall is inevitable and he instead joins Illuminati, who contact him through Urien, so that they’d use his scientific skills for their cause.
It might be cliche and/or predictable as hell, but at least it could potentially give FANG a role in the future of Street Fighter’s story. Imagine if Necro and/or Twelve turned out to be FANG’s creation, for example!
This is all actually my theory of what’s going to happen with F.A.N.G. I think F.A.N.G’s work in Shadaloo is what leads to the G Project and Necro and Twelve’s creation.
I could see this guy as a subordinate for FANG. Urien is the one who penned the Human Reconstruction Theory, so the combination of him + FANG’s Shadowloo technology would be a great set up for the Illuminati’s experiments. Also, the idea of FANG being a perpetual traitor who acts loyal until his team starts losing sounds hilarious. With the monitor cyborgs evidently in use during the time of SFV, he could have access to fighter data for the entire cast, so the Dhalsim -> Necro connection has some place in canon.
I think we are likely to get 2, possibly 3 cinematic stories over the game’s life span. The first one puts Shadowloo as the main bad guys, but one of the others uses the Illuminati as their villains. A third one could maybe introduce a new villain entirely.
I think what peopled liked was that Scott looks identical to Cody and that the original article said something almost identical to “This looks like Cody, but it’s not Cody I swear!” Was what the post claimed. Also, I heard a ton of arguments on both sides of the fence. As you said you claimed it was Cody others claim it was Joe. I actually have seen pretty close to an equal amount on either side. The main argument for why it couldn’t be Cody was by SF2 he was in jail.
That second picture is official artwork direct from the Final Fight Sega CD version. They have even the same wear and tear on the jeans… heh.
The size of that guy’s head always freaked me out.
That is what I’ve been sayin for a while. They are adding “story mode” prologues for each new character so it would make sense to have a new full story update each june.
I think the artwork on the left side is from a fan asking who the black and white guy were.
The answer that they gave on the right side says that the two people were rumored to be Joe and Mike, but at the very end of the article, there’s a (lol) stating to take it with a grain of salt (beware) as its just a rumor.
(Interesting enough the fanart points at the white guy asking if it’s “Cody?” “コーディー?”)
Also, I’m not sure which exact newsletter this information’s from, but it’s from one of the Club Capcom magazines.
He’s a blogger, but apparently he may as well be. He has predicted (or possibly indirectly influenced) the skill sets involving a certain Doll in SFV from what I can tell.
Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, the fact they brought out a new-ish character (since nobody ever knew he was a unique character), and his design is IDENTICAL to Cody’s; I don’t think Cody will be in his classic outfit when/if he is added. It’s possible, especially given that banner in the London stage, but I wonder if they’ll go with a new design entirely. Something like a mix of his prison outfit + classic outfit. Longer hair like Guy has would be kind of weird for him I feel, especially with Ken’s new and old looks hair. I don’t think they’ll do the orange prison outfit with the upper part tied around his waist since they did something kind of like that with Ken and Alex. I do think more and more that they’ll include the cuffs even if his story progresses, just because it’s iconic to his design now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they included either his classic prison outfit or his classic Final Fight outfit for his story mode costume as a way to get you up to speed as to what they’ve been doing since their last appearance and how they’ve grown, like Birdie/Nash or explore part of his really old backstory like they did with Ryu/Ken/Chun/ect
Isn’t one of those magazines shown in a story mode picture? I know it’s a dif cover but is it Club Capcom or a dif magazine?
Does that actually retcon out Kyle? I can’t remember if it’s specifically stated that Cody only had ONE brother since it’s been forever since I played Streetwise.
God, as much as I hate the idea of Scott and Cody being twin brothers, I’d take it just to make FFSW no longer in this canon limbo where it’s probably canon but maybe not, lol. Knock FFSW out of SF continuity entirely. Still doesn’t get rid of Zombie Belger thought, damn it. Next step, get rid of FF Revenge. I don’t hate revenge much, the story is MOSTLY ok, not great but ok, I just f’n hate Zombie Belger, heh.
Right. But that’s the thing: He always looked like Cody, not only in this artwork, also in the original game.
Really? Tell me one person who went with the Cody argument other than me? Even the stupid wikis never acknowledged it while they regularly pointed out that Joe and Mike are the guys in the intro.
You do realize that SF2 was created long before Cody being in jail was established, right? So, this is actually a non-argument: "The developers in 1991 couldn’t have intended this character to be Cody because Cody was in jail, as we know from a 1998 game."
And by the time SFA3 came out, SF2 had long been retconned by SSF2T anyway, a game where these characters didn’t appear anymore, so the SFA3 developers didn’t have to care.
Thanks. So, it’s not a definite answer, after all. Capcom just repeated the fan rumor.
So, to summarize it:
We basically have:
“Erm, yeah, they say it’s probably Joe and Mike. (lol)”
And we have:
“By the way, that guy is definitely not supposed to be Cody. Definitely not. Totally different person. (lol)”
So, from their clowning around, saying in a humorous way that he is Joe in one source and saying in a humorous way that he isn’t Cody in another source, what can we conclude about the original intention?
Oh, no, thanks. Shadaloo has enough traitors as is. The reason FANG is original in terms of his motives is because he is devoted to Bison of his own accord unlike Sagat, Balrog, Vega, Birdie, Cammy, the Dolls and Seth.
Edit: You can also add Juri to that list and probably a couple more people whose names escape me ATM.
