The description for him says that he would’ve replaced Gen once he had died and had a vendetta with Akuma (sounds like Kairi ). They were debating of having him or Necalli, but Necalli won and they scrapped him. There’s also a pretty cool design of a Shadaloo soldier at the very bottom of the page. Laura could’ve been a fighter who would’ve ripped her clothing as the fight progressed gradually revealing more skin, or a very strong looking female (I think we got the middle ground between the two). Akiman proposed that they should have the President fighter but he was scrapped, then there’s actually 2 Doctor type characters (one being a philosopher) who sort of set a basis for FANG.
Since a majority of the older Japanese fighting styles have some origin basis from China the answer is yes.
Oh man if this guy was pissed that Gen died without getting his death match because Akuma refused to take part in it and that was the basis for his vendetta against Akuma (the dishonoring of Gen’s last wish) that would be an AWESOME motivation. For a martial arts student, even a hardened assassin (or maybe ESPECIALLY for a hardened assassin), that sort of sentimentality towards their master and their masters honor is super cool.

Actually I think Gen’s disciple would have been a bit darker. I think he may have been the one to kill Gen (It mentions something about Gen being stabbed or thrust into a coffin) and then go after Akuma to finish what Gen couldn’t.

Shadaloo soldiers needed to be faceless like Stormtroopers IMO. The current interpretation completely takes away from the credibility and threat of the organization. We’re getting American SF cartoon series instead of SF2 animated movie.
Oh man…I would have liked the old concept slightly mixed with what we got (or better yet use the Blade shocktrooper look from SF:The Movie) so that it wasn’t total metal body suits, but also something that was advanced tech combined with military uniforms.

I actually would prefer Shadaloo soldiers to look more like the soldiers from the live-action movie like Blade in the SFII: Movie Arcade Game. That was a decent look. They looked very intimidating and Storm Trooper-ish.
