The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Now that’s fucking epic awesome

Please come to the West Please Come to the West…Please Come to the West…Nay…GO GLOBAL!!!

They’ll probably release it exclusively on Go90 to troll us. Sorry, still salty at Machinima…

screeches at the moon, covered in salt

So based on character bios for both Sagat and Ryu from several games - there’s no evidence that Ryu got consumed by Satsui no Hado for a moment because he got salty from the loss to Sagat and Shoryuken’d him so hard he got the scar?

Where did the original mentioning of this instance came from, then?

I think @“Lord Vega” mentioned that the plot guide references the AASFZ book as its source, which covers SFZ related details only. I have yet to even scan over the AASFZ3 pages, and if it’s anything like the SFZ book than there’s probably a ton of info to sift through.

The biographies I’m going over are more like short synopsis giving general points that cover each character throughout the generation. Compared to the ones in the actual AASF books, which I assume are more detail oriented given the amount of info on one page for each character.

So until I start to cover the basis of those, keep in mind that these bios are mostly un polished compilations. We might get some details on some things, and some might be included within another guide.

I’m a bit surprised myself. Well, not concerning the “he got salty from the loss to Sagat” part because I have been doubting this for a whole while now. But I assumed that the story of Ryu being consumed by the Satsui no Hado for a last desperation attack in a fight that he was close to losing was indeed part of the storyline. But yeah, no mention of this in the story books.

It was first mentioned in the “Street Fighter Alpha” manga. And UDON did the same.
Neither of those sources are canon, but at least it’s not just mere fan fiction. Licensed works have used it, so if it’s not canon, then this is how it crept in.

Although I still believe that Evil Ryu’s ending from SFA3 includes a flashback to that battle and therefore confirms Ryu briefly being consumed by the Satsui no Hado in SF1:

Some people believe that this is just a flashback to his SFA3 mid-boss fight against Sagat. But I have my doubts:

The mid-boss fight was disappointing for Ryu since Sagat held back. Yet, the flashback is shown while he says the words: “My fist is soaked with blood. The blood of death.” Why use such a non-exciting, disappointing, random battle to symbolize Ryu’s path to darkness?

Also, a Dragon Punch against Sagat again? Pretty redundant. And confusing because, well, you can confuse it with their SF1 battle.

This red, scar-shaped flash, as if to indicate that Sagat’s chest was ripped open.

I see Hakan. Why.

A novel eh?

Because his hair is fun to draw, like a Lego.

This has probably been discussed, but I think there’s a connection between Necallis hair and Gills hair.

There’s a Japanese bookstore in the city. I hope they will carry the novel. Hakan and Elena on the cover is a good sign.

Thanks for all the translations @bakfromon and everyone posting the scans. Finally some Street Fighter EX informations after all these years !

In time, we’ll get around to doing a guide based around the SF EX plots. We have the basic story down for them, so we just have to get the profiles of everyone and figure out how they factor into the story. I’m going to upload every SFEX profile so we’ll be ready for it when we’re done with the main story stuff. Hopefully stuff like “Kairi killed Akuma, Bison absorbed the souls from Garuda” can actually be cleared up when we’re done.

I always felt like the EX story was the most interesting because of how mysterious it was. In Chun-Li’s EX3 ending, Bison escapes and she indirectly comes across a shadowy organization while investigating the tournament:

It was probably an organization along the same lines of SIN or maybe the Secret Society. It’s only mentioned in EX3, but I still like thinking of how this stuff could relate to other games.

I don’t know if anyone else agrees, but I find the one-inch punch thing visually unappealing, be it Fei-long’s or Karin’s super.

I love the One Inch Punch. I think Karin spinning them is the dumb part.

I’m indifferent to it. Sometimes it looks cool, but it gets old really fast. I just like listening to Karin’s laugh.
