Correct, but I would say that they’re more like two sides of the same coin; Akuma= Courage based on finding path already discovered yet not conquered “for good reason”
Gouken= Principles based on creating his own path using the foundations he’s been given
No he’s evil, but in his mind he thinks he’s some divine fighting god that has transcended humanity.
@“Doctrine Dark” you are the one putting it all on pastebin, right? I was wondering if you are adding footnotes, you know, to know the sources where everything comes from.
Bakfromon, you need to change your title from “True Void” to “Dropping Knowledge.” Seriously man, I’ve been learning something new with each post you make in this thread.
It almost seems like Sagat was *never *a member of the Four Kings. This sounds like the equivalent of a 10 day contract. Sagat’s Z3 bio makes it seem like Bison had to keep asking him to join Shadaloo like he was the last strong fighter in the world or something. He probably had that statue of Sagat created so he could impress him and convince him to devote his loyalty to Shadaloo. Thirsty ass nigga.
Even yrs later, Bison is still salty about Sagat leaving:
Something else I think is interesting is how he isn’t really full of rage in SF2 era. He’s not raging going out looking for a rematch, he’s more dignified and accepts Ryu as his rival knowing a time will come when Ryu would approach him again, and only then would he get his just desserts. It wasn’t until Alpha series when they retconned him to be more vengeful, actively looking for Ryu to challenge him for a rematch. I love the progression of Sagat, but I just always assumed he was more vengeful in SF2 era as well wanting to go as far as kill Ryu, but it’s more like he knows the battle will be so harsh that one of them might die, not that he’s actively seeking for revenge to go as far as murder. Then SFA3 solidified that they be friendly rivals instead of the more bitter ones that might eventually end in a death match.
Alright, again no mention of Ryu lying on the ground and Sagat trying to help him up when he was attacked with the Dragon Punch. I wonder where the plot guide got this from since it was included long before Vasili made the guide into his own fan fiction.
Since this ending is not canon (because the rematch with Ryu didn’t occur), the part where he leaves Bison probably didn’t happen, so he was constantly part of Shadoloo until SFA3 when he disapproved of Bison means.
Good point. I really enjoy Sagat’s development throughout the series. Do you think they actually fought in SF4?
When it comes to the final confrontation in Alpha 3, it looks like Bison tried to control Ryu with his Psycho Power and was able to overcome it. I remember reading that Ken and Sakura both fought Bison while Sagat was taking on the brainwashed Ryu. I guess we’ll see when we get to Ken and Sakura’s bio, but that would eliminate the idea of Ken being enhanced with Psycho Power. That’s one of the things I liked about Ryu’s Alpha 3 storyline because it was similar to the Animated Movie.
This may have been addressed already, and if so my apologies, I did a search and could not find a definitive answer. I feel that the background characters in some of the stages will be future characters or minimally play in the story mode (obviously Alex, Ibuki, etc…I’m talking about more obscure ones). For instance, in Zangief’s stage, the dude who has a chick to his left and right in the background. They are up on a platform and surrounded by guys with machine guns. From some angles it looks like Urien or Gill in a purple suit…but it’s really hard to tell. I know we are all aware of other background characters on other stages but those three perplex me the most. Any thoughts?
I’m thinking the ending is canon because it sounds like even though he’s still apart of Shadaloo during Alpha 3 he’s avoiding them which correlates with the end of his SF Alpha 2 ending. His Alpha 3 bio just says he gets an opportunity for a rematch with Ryu but it doesn’t really say if this is the first time or just another time.
Sagat’s ending in SF4 implies they did, but they’re friendly rivals at this point so he probably has just as many matches with him as Ken does (probably beating him too). I remember during the non canon Ryu vs Sagat fight featured in the Ryu Final manga Sagat yells to Ryu asking him to remember about all the fights they’ve had up until that point, and how many times they’ve met at the same place “sleeping Buddha statue” to have them. So after they’ve become friends they probably did have a fight during SF4.
Oh, right, that novel: Now that we have somebody who is able to speak Japanese: Does the Amazon page or any other source say what this story is about? Will it cover actual events from the games or is it just some side story?
