Instead of putting it on Youtube, they released the series exclusively on an app called Go90. Which is region locked, sorry Euro brethren, and as far as I can tell only viewable on cellphones and tablets. Not only that, last time I checked. They’ve only released one episode. The first episdoe is 8 minutes in duration. This has completely killed any momentum built by Assassin’s Fist. Which released in it’s entirety, on Youtube, so everyone can watch it. I mean it’s fucked up that the creators of the series can’t even watch it in their home country. WTF Machinima
The Bison being taken to trial info bit is what inspired me to make this entry in a sprite contest ages ago:
I pictured Bison rolling out of there smoothly and even bothering with a trial just to stroke his ego and show Guile and others the powerlessness of the legal system when dealing with him. Also, since Guile is a known smoker I felt like throwing in that detail and also making him real rough around the edges. This level of disappointment would surely make him obsess about taking down Bison enough to leave behind his family.
@“Doctrine Dark” Here’s the background on Cyber Akuma, Its pretty much the same the localized version where he becomes remodeled with Celestial tech to become one of Apocalypses 4 Housemen of Death, specifically “Death”.
Thanks, bak. I know the VS stuff isn’t canon, but I still find many of the stories interesting.
When we’re done with the main story stuff, I feel like we could really put together a solid SF EX plot guide. We’d probably be the first to ever attempt such a thing, too.
Also, is Akuma’s 2I bio saying his ending took place several yrs before 2I? If so, that’s pretty new to me. Ken being surprised Akuma is still alive is new to me. He probably thought he’d meet his end after fighting so many different people.
@DRW
It’s really a shame Pete Holmes show got canceled, I didn’t watch it until after it was and the sketches are fucking GOLD. He hasn’t done anything since then and they seem to have removed the videos from his youtube after leaving them up there for 2 years.
As for SF characters in court? I couldn’t help but think of when Guile appeared in Harvey Birdman on PSP. Also too perfect when discussing Guile smoking.
Something interesting about Gouken’s entries is that even though they mention that he died it doesn’t specifically mention how, only that Akuma was the culprit but not officially until Alpha 2 Gold. Although Goutetsu is being mentioned as specifically being felled by SGS. Even though he’s been dead in canon for a while it seems the reason behind his death is left ambiguous, meaning he could’ve been Raging Demoned, or fell off a cliff, or both at the same time, who’s to say. We just known that Akuma was the culprit behind the apparent murder.
I find it very interesting that all the way back then Gouken was confirmed to have the Void symbol and STILL people didn’t connect that to the usage of the term “Mu” regarding Gen defending the SGS…which means that the seeds for Gouken’s survival were definitively planted back then as well
Fun fact about Gouken’s “無 Mu” character, when used in the right context it can used as a stand in to describe the heavens “天” . While Akuma keeps his view of limiting the heavens to the earthly perspective sky itself, Goukens view of the heavens encompasses the universal void free of earthly perspective. From Akuma’s perspective the sky is the limit, from Gouken’s perspective the sky has no limit. No illusion is safe when bathed in the pure light of the moon
Yup. Philosophically, Akuma’s “Heaven” symbol represents transcendent humanity…but “Void” represents transcendence itself. The difference between human perfection and Nirvana.
I knew this before, i have been a fan of those kanji’s but never knew what’s with gouken other than gouki before for being heaven stuff or beyond human, this proves that gouken has been the truest enlightenment between the two?
Yes, but it goes with the fact that they both have very similar views about things, its just Gouken gets it right and Akuma thinks he’s right but is too misguided and arrogant to see that he’s wrong. Akuma is soooo close to being right but is too clouded by pride to see anything but his own opinion. Even though Street Fighter Alpha Generations isn’t the best SF anime movie I feel they portrayed the whole aspect Gouki = pridefully arrogant while Gouken = upholding principles. Going as far as having Gouki give a speech about the meaning of courage; is to walk every dangerous path just because you can, while Goutestu chastises him telling him his opinions are merely arrogance.
I’d even say Akuma generally just spews bullshit sophistry. He talks about his own strength and power and bravery in the face of the dangers of his path and his unrelenting drive…but Gouken has shown the true strength of changing with changing times, helping/teaching others, and being willing to grant mercy to a defeated foe. THAT stuff takes courage as a fighter since weapons of war can obsolete a fighter (they didn’t to Gouken), focusing on others can cause one to degrade on their own advancement (it didn’t for Gouken), and a spared opponent can come back to kill you (and NOW that didn’t happen for Gouken either lol). So Gouken has faced all these potential pitfalls fearlessly and walked away stronger for all of it. His non-lethal style has more potential than ansatsuken. His students helped him grow stronger and both show incredible potential in their own right reflecting strongly on him as a teacher. His loss to Akuma only served to give him deeper insight into Mu and make him stronger.
Basically, Gouken > Gouki all day in terms of philosophy and practice as a martial artist. Akuma is wrong from the word Go!. The Dark Side is actually worse than using the Force properly.
