Looking forward to reading more translations. I’ve compiled a lot more stuff, so I’ll just wait until you’re finished before posting all of them.
Until then, would you mind tackling all of the other sections for those characters? That way it’ll be complete and we’ll know what they’ve done in every game.
I’ll just post them here along with a few entries from other characters so you can get to them at your own leisure:
Regarding the matter of Bison and Rose’s soul, please check for the tense of the sentence. I’m not sure how the Japanese language works, but I know that when Bison told Rose that they will share the same soul it was in the future tense. The soul is a primitive way of describing one’s consciousness or mind, Bison is effectively assimilating/merging his soul with another then hijacking their body. The idea that Bison and Rose sharing the same soul/consciousness/mind is not incorrect (he even tells Cammy that he will be back in her mind in SFA3). What matters here is WHEN does this all take place and for how long.
The SFA/Z3 ending makes it clear that in:
The Past: Bison and Rose have a master-pupil relationship
The Present: Rose feels compelled to stop Bison.
The Future: Bison and Rose will share the same consciousness/soul.
The plot guide asserts that Bison and Rose shared the same soul in the past as well as in the future of SFA3. That Bison and Rose are originally (long before the Alpha era) one and same before separating into 2 people (it also disregards the master-pupil relationship mentioned completely). I believe every translation we got so far has debunked this idea.
In any case, as a story fanatic I feel compelled to thank you @bakfromon @“Doctrine Dark” and @“Lord Vega” again for taking the time from your personal lives to scan and/or translate these for the rest of our community here at SRK. You make me proud of being a member here, and I appreciate it.
Y’know, Bison becomes a lot less intimidating with the idea he is into all of that holistic medicine stuff and he was actually revived by a healing crystal massage.
The ‘crystal technology’ thing probably stems from the original inspiration for the Psycho Drive, which was the “Eagle Head” from the SF2 V animated series. The relationship between Bison and the ‘Eagle Head’ is never made absolutely clear on the show, but we know that functionally it is similar to Bison’s Psycho Drive.
It’s not so much about the changes in SF5. The thing that I find funny are the changed that were already there in SF4, just not as detailed, and that were ignored by Vasili.
Like Charlie “dying” by falling down the waterfall: This was already alluded to in SF4 by showing Charlie falling, but Vasili ignored it and still went with his SFA3 ending.
So, will Vasili admit that he was wrong in his previous version of the plot guide? Or will he still claim that SF4 realy did support he SFA3 ending and only in SF5 was it retconned to the SFA2 ending?
Maybe not in that description. But he was mentioned as the tournament winner in another piece of information:
Complete File Street Fighter II from 1992, page 46:
Translation (feel free to let it recheck since I got the translation from the plot guide): After Ryu’s magnificent battle, news of Vega ceased. However the guy will surely return. Becoming a revenging demon…
I put this together using the scan as a reference. I don’t know whether the game actually uses these sizes or not, I just looked at the scan and scaled the models accordingly:
Yeah, that’s a bit more than the like 4inch difference in height they are supposed to have. Even with the boots adding an inch it’s a bit much. You look at the height chart difference, Ryu is coming up almost 5’11" (he is supposed to be 5’9") and Nash is like 7.5 inches taller than him. Nash is coming in at ~6’7" (~6’6" w/o boots). I think he is supposed to be 6’1"
Chun is exactly right though. According to the Street Fighter wiki (dunno how accurate that is) she is 169cm (Just under 5’7") that is exactly where she shows up on that chart.
Also regarding Rose…two things about that translation (and thanks SO MUCH for providing translations @bakfromon ) …
Firstly, we’ve seen what happens when/if Rose beats Bison…he migrates to her body. They share the same sort of power (Soul/Psycho) so she is primed to host him.
Also…the SFA series and Bison’s body hoping are REALLY coincidentally after Star Wars Dark Empire released. And what did that focus on? The big-bad Emperor body-hopping bodies including clones and other Force sensitives (he wanted to inhabit Leia & Han’s child’s body). He could ONLY inhabit Force users…and they had to be substantially powerful to house him without (you guessed it…) totally burning out their bodies. In fact, even his clone bodies weren’t good enough and he was burning through THEM because he had gained too much power in the Dark Side…
This sounding suspiciously familiar? It should…
Secondly, Rose’s ending is Bison hitting her with his gut-punch thingie. When he does this, he shows her visions of the future (usage of Psycho Power). This is when Bison starts inhabiting her. She has seen the future…in fact, we know Rose sort of “lives” in the future because of her reliance on her fortune-telling. She saw “Bison” ruling the world with evil & destruction…but Bison has a CLEARER vision of the future that involves him AND Rose doing this because he is inhabiting Rose. We also know from SF4 that Bison absolutely, positively DID inject Psycho Power (a part of his soul since it’s literally called Soul Power) into Rose…which reiterates what happens at the end of SFA3. He takes this back. This might mean the future is now changed (since in SF it doesn’t seem immutable) but that still means Rose shared a “soul” with Bison. “After the fight” Rose realized their souls were the same. That is exactly what Guy felt as a “chill” in SFA3’s ending. Bison is now inhabiting a part of Rose’s soul…so they are the same. Rose realizes this too late for her to fight off Bison’s influence.
Anyone else think Rose and Illuminati could be tied up in a most coherent way? Both are about prediction and prophecy. They don’t have to be “connected” in the usual sense, but I want Rose’s story to not end after the fall of Shadaloo.
And I just realised that although Urien has been promoted to the President - he’s still Number 2, which means Gill is Number 1 as the Emperor, which mean Urien is still Gill’s bitch
That’s actually hilarious. Gill, you motherfucker hahaha
