Considering that this is the most comprehensive compilation of foreign SF material I’ve ever witnessed this will definitely take me some time to complete on my own. Which is awesome because it will fill in the gaps between now and when new story info for SFV comes out.
Also if anyone would like to help out with this endeavor feel free to manage a few articles. I know I’m not the only one on SRK with the ability to translate, @“The Lone Dragon” @TheIlluminati or whoever has the time to lend a hand or provide input I’d appreciate it. Unlike the previous compilation of plot I’d like this one to be as accurate and informative as possible.
This is beautiful! Thanks for all the scans, the translations now and to come! I’m loving you guys!
That’s interesting, never really knew much about EX’s story despite being a big fan of it. The drug reminds me of the drug called Doll in the SF2 Manga that introduced Gouken’s main look.
I agree with you, I loved Skullo’s original storyline. I didn’t mind the more toku-inspired look he got in in EX+2, but the origin should have stayed the same. : /
I’ll start off with the SF1 bios and work my way up from there. Like I mentioned before, if anyone would like to pick up a section of add input or revisions to my translations please feel free. I’m by no means a professional when it comes to this, so give me some time to go over each section individually and break them up into parts.
Let me take a break from translations and say that I’m pretty impressed with how dark and gritty this is turning out to be. If this is just a fraction of World Warrior than this is gonna be a pretty good upcoming Tuesday, but for Bison it’s just another Tuesday.
Again, Ken should totally hire this man as a bodyguard for Eliza/Mel while he’s away. I guarantee you, if Vega tries to fuck with him, Eagle will send him packing with more than a broken nose lol
Whoa, whoa whoa…so is this finally confirming there was a tournament element to SF1?
Yeah, I’m liking this, it’s not looking like it’ll pull punches. Choreograpy looks good. Also the tone works; it’s got a gritty, criminal element, yet the guys throwing ki attacks don’t feel out of place.
I wanna watch this, but I have no idea what the app this is premiering on is. Is it free? As a Canuck can I access it? I’ve got 5 days to figure this out hah
Poor Dan… Nothing will ever save him now, unless they remake his character
That’s… interesting. Are Hawk and Noembelu even compatible age-wise? Hawk seems like he’s a grown ass dude and more of a father figure rather than a fiance/boyfriend
Whoa whoa whoa
Wait, Ryu and Sakura’s age difference is just 4 years? I thought Ryu was much older than Sakura, hence why so many people disagree or deny any sort of RyuKura (yes, I’m calling it this way) shipping/romance, because of age barrier
Well there’s nothing wrong with that, it would make Guile look like a real vet instead of just “serving” in the army, his past doesn’t quite mention any sort of military achievements other than helping defeat Bison together with other heroes
Yup. I just read it myself. Looks like it is, after all.
Interesting. I really thought it’s all a misconception, but yeah: This whole “a victor is decided when Sagat is defeated” definitely points to it being a tournament and not just Ryu traveling the world.
After finding out that the term “Psycho Power” was not an invention of the anime, but actually part of the original sources, even though, for some strange reason, this was never used in the American manuals, nor in the translation of Masaomi Kanzaki’s manga, another mystery is solved now after all.
I would even say that Sagat being the host is semi-confirmed by the wording: "Competing against the King of Muay Thai Sagat in the World Martial Arts Championship, a victor is decided when Sagat is defeated."
Either, the tournament was sponsored by some general organization and they just decided to make Sagat the final opponent. (Unlikely.) Or Sagat really gathered the fighters, saying: “Let’s see if any of you can defeat me.”
I’m curious if we will find out some more stuff about my favorite “Street Fighter II” controversy: Who won the second tournament and what happened at the end?
Now that SF4 has retconned the whole plot and merged SF2 and SFA3 into the same event, the question is actually a non-issue: The C. Viper aftermath trailer shows pretty well how the tournament ended.
But I’m talking from a pre-SF4 position.
Yeah, this is pretty interesting. I was one of those who thought SF1 was a tournament and then recently began to second guess it, so this is interesting. It’s kind of crazy how some of these elements are important, but Capcom didn’t really see the need to elaborate on them back in the day. I guess they never really saw the series exploding in popularity like they did hah.
