Quick question: Did Ryu turn into E.Ryu during SF4’s endings? The game seemingly presents 2 versions of the events
-Ryu Shoryukens the BLECE device and saves Sakura, then runs into Dan and Blanka.
-Ryu fires a Shinkuu Hadoken into the machine and gives into the SNH. After a short rampage, Gouken arrives and silences it.
Which version is canon? Both versions occur in other endings.
Both are canon.
Sakura’s SF4 ending takes place immediately after Ryu’s SF4 ending.
Ryu fires a hadouken at the machine as it begins to draw out his chi like a magnet, and then finishes it off with a dragon punch in the next scene.
Ryu never truly gave into the SNH in SF4 except the short battle scene with Viper/Cammy we see in TTTB.
Gouken’s scene with Ryu takes place in another setting entirely, and has no relation to the happenings at the SIN base.

I thought it was implied that Karin is the host of the NY tournament. This would also make it the first time in the series’ history that an SF tournament is being hosted by a female.
But yes, the shit will hit the fan as that tournament is taking place.

I have to hand it to Capcom, making Karin into the host of the Street Fighter tournament when everyone was expecting another villainous character to do it is an inspired move.
It opens the door for other heroic or neutral characters to host the tournament. Well one can say that Sagat was a neutral figure in SF1. Who knows, maybe in the distant SF future, Old Man Ryu can be the final boss some day.
My ideal story for a future SF game would revolve around Ryu disappearing like he did at the end of Ryu Final with Ken being unable to track him. Ken would then use the Masters corporation to sponsor another worldwide fighting tournament in hopes of drawing Ryu out. It set’s up the possibility for another character hosting a tournament for a secret but non devious agenda, and leads into Ryu being the secret boss character.
Sounds like you want Ryu to take on a similar role to Luke Skywalker in the Force Awakens.

Rose does make a good narrator for the series and I REALLY wish they would expand on her in general. She’s never been as cool as her inspiration (Lisa-Lisa) and really should be. Once upon a time, I really had hoped she’d train someone like Ken or Sakura…preferably Sakura. Explain Sakura’s natural freakish talent by having her be a Soul Power user or something. Further her fighting style so it’s even less like a shoto while still having shoto-roots.
Rose is such a massive linchpin in the universe but does so precious little. History with Bison, lots of activity in Alpha…then…almost nothing. So dumb. She could be the damn Yoda of the series.

Ryu becoming a boss is the best possible direction for the character AND would be the best set-up for a Rock Howard-style new protagonist.
