The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Is this another of those ‘different in Japan and America’ things like Dictator, Claw and Boxer’s names and Poison’s gender?

No, there’s just been a few things in the past that led to people thinking Zangief was gay, like having “Beautiful young women of a marriageable age” in his dislikes section, which could mean he’s gay, he’s asexual, or likes older women. But it isn’t even in his dislikes section anymore if you look at the art book that came with the collector’s edition.

Zangief dislikes beautiful young women of marriageable age? Gay. Or maybe he likes women like Hugo’s mom, you know, potato-y.

What I find interesting most about the Ryu x Bison screenshot is that I get the impression that this could be story related. With Bison possibly wearing an exosuit to regulate his body’s ability to handle his power, slowing down the degenerative effect it has on his form. Ryu on the other hand looks fresh out of recovery from Evil Ryu which could happen once and for all in this chapter (Capcom please).

I’ve always been a fan of Ryu getting literally scarred by the SNH. The chest scar we’ve grown used to could’ve come from his Alpha 3 encounter with Bison, but that would require retconning it into several games now. So if he manages to get the scar in SF5, we’d only have to retcon it into SF3. It’s really a perfect symbol for the struggle and perseverance of Ryu’s character through the timeline. His karma would have him be scarred himself by the very inner demon that scarred Sagat. I also like the added parallels it would create between Ryu and Kenshiro.

As for the question of who should give Ryu this scar in SF5. Well it obviously should be either Bison or Necalli. They both have powerful attacks that involve punching their opponent in that area of the body anyway, but Bison as the villain of the series is more deserving - Especially if this is his final performance truly. It is only fitting that he leaves the Street Fighters with a parting gift; A scar for Ryu, a death for Nash, PTSD for the dolls, and a world in ruin for everyone else.

So hopefully, Ryu gets his scar.

examine Ryu’s alternate costume aka Beard Ryu. Okay things a notice about beard Ryu is that his pants are tore, he’s got scars on his body, a bandage on his left big toe and a bandage on his right upper arm. he also seems to be wearing black bandages on his hands. since the alterated is going to be part of the story this makes me think Ryu gets into a fight with someone either Necell or Bison.

dictator and gill did fight already in what if game in capcom fighting jam it like dictator won?

what i was thinking at first seeing from article sf6 onward sf3 with a very different dictator and after ryu final moments… but changed after they established necali plot.

I think i read somewhere that Vega saw her father killing his mother and that was the reason he started hating ugly people, his father was ugly BTW.

Last I checked, Vega’s mother (a beautiful woman) married an ugly-but-rich man, who abused her and eventually killed her. That caused Vega to snap, and is the genesis of his hatred of all things ugly. Though there’s also some serious narcissism going with Vega too (also inspired/encouraged by his mother, IIRC).

BTW, is it me, or does Vega come off as being really strong in the SFV story mode so far?

Also, why are complaining about the story thus far? Aside from the bad Bengus art and of course the fact that it’s incomplete.

I’m REALLY hoping that Necalli eats all of Ryu’s SnH, so I never have to hear about Evil Ryu ever again.

One wants to destroy it, the other wants to save it. Sounds like exact opposites to me.

I think it’s more like M. Bison wants to watch the world burn. Gill on the other hand is more interested in the rebirth of society. How after the end of days, a new world will rise from the ashes, with him as it’s leader. Gill isn’t interested in saving the world, because he believes the world is already doomed.

No. Read what I wrote again. Pay careful attention to the words “save the worthy” and “Gill does not want to stop the apocalypse”. Then reconsider your position.

I just wanted to revise a small error I had made to a translation on this post. It’s not Juli, but Juri that is under (M Bison) and above Nash, although I can’t quite see what their connection is at this time. Hopefully in due time we’ll be able to get a clearer picture of the full character relation chart.

Shadaloo doesn’t necessarily translate to “the apocalypse”. For all we know, Illuminati is still around after the downfall of Shadaloo and is trying to “save the worthy”. Also, hostilities don’t have to be two-sided. Just because Illuminati doesn’t care what Shadaloo does (or even “supports” it), doesn’t mean Shadaloo (more specifically, Bison) wouldn’t like to topple Illuminati. Anyone but Bison himself or those who serve him in world conquest is an enemy of Shadaloo.

So does this confirm my years long suspicion that Juri is now an agent of Shadaloo as strongly implied by her and Bison’s SSF4 endings, Seth’s SSF4 ending, and even SFxT?

Hmmmmm no box leading to Rashids “friend”? And Juri with Bison? The hell does that mean?

Thinkinf of the sf2 anime this made me laff

Yeah don’t get your hopes up there buddy boy.

Actually, she’s outside the Shadowloo box, so I would doubt it. She probably took what was left of SIN and used it to fuel her eye and vendetta toward Bison. My guess for the translation is “vendetta/wants to kill”, going by the context and her being fairly close to Nash.

True. But where else does it say the translation of “vendetta/wants to kill?” I mean I can’t read japanese but I don’t see where it would say that near her name. Or are you talking around nash’s name?
