So someone was nice enough to post a small pic of the SFV Volcanic Edition Visionary Book. It’s part of a character relation chart that seems to be very detailed from what I can tell. It even lists the name of the last Matsuda family member
*Delta Red members are listed next to Cammy (Keith Wolfman, Lita Luwanda, Matthew McCoy, George Ginzu)
*The yellow box below Chun is labeled Air Force.
*The names listed are Guile, Sawada (SF:TM?), David, and Tailor (Guile is Tailor’s boss).
*They were former colleagues of Nash.
*(Ken) relative of Guile.
*(M.Bison) killed Nash.
*Juri is under M.Bison
*Helen is under Nash with a question asking “revive?”
*Below the yellow box are the names C.Viper and S. Raven with the group of Rashid, Cammy, Chun, and Nash being labeled as Anti Shadaloo.
*Below Rashid is Azam, he views him like a grandfather.
*Azam worries about Rashid.
*Azam is an old friend of Zangief, he’s also acquainted with Laura’s Grandfather Kinjiro Matsuda.
*CWA members are Zalazof and Colt (Biff and Gunloc from Slammasters).
*IJWPW (International Japanese Women’s Pro Wrestling) members are Yamato Nadeshiko, and Yoko Harmegeddon.
*Mika looks up to Gief.
*Gief is acquainted with Laura.
*THawk and Hugo are listed in the box with Mika Gief and Laura.
*This box is labeled “Throwing Friends” (Wrestling Buddies).
*Matsuda’s have their own box.
*Laura is Sean’s unbelievably scary sister.
*Sean is Laura’s adorable brother.
*Family members are Kinjiro, Yuichiro, Brenda, and Fabio (Sean’s and Laura’s other brother)

So that means our primary anti-Shadowloo task force in SFV is going to be Chun, Cammy, Guile, and Rashid (who replaced Abel), though Guile may be more focused on Nash than fighting Bison here. That means Rashid v Chun as seen in the cinematic’s trailer is probably early on, similar to how Abel and Guile had a rivalry until they found common ground and went after SIN. In fact, the Hero team will probably find themselves in specific roles:
-Rashid rescues the SIN researchers, probably fights FANG
-Cammy rescues the dolls, probably fights Vega
-Guile helps all-around, but is preoccupied with Nash
-Chun-Li is left to take the fight to Bison and bring him down, proving Urien right
As for the rest of the chart:
-Viper is still very much involved it seems. She may be in Season 2 after all…
-Bison has Juli? The brunette, right? T.Hawk dun fucked up lol.
-Interesting the T.Hawk and Hugo are listed as “Grappling Buds” (to use Laura’s phrasing). They may be in line for later seasons?
-Holy hell Azam just got more awesome. He knows Laura’s granddad? That makes two more guys I want for SFV!
-Alex appears to have no affiliation to CWA. That means, while he is a wrestler, he isn’t a professional. SFV Alex will likely be a very different person.
-Balrog still doesn’t have much story relevance, even compared to FANG, the guy who just showed up. I really want to see his prologue now so I know what the hell he’s been up to.
All in all, really nice chart. Wish I had it so I could see what is most likely the Shadowloo box above Nash. Also, no Ryu? Sometimes it’s like he lives in his own little world. I guess him and Dhalsim vs Necalli is going to be their main fight?
Keep in mind this isn’t the whole chart just a small section of it. I’m pretty sure Ken is offscreen somewhere being the relative to Guile, so he might be included with the Anti Shadaloo task force.
Also since SFV is still a little buggy someone made a compilation video of the Vega VTrigger stage glitch and got a better glimpse at the UFO in the background of the New York stage. It definitely resembles one of those Bison spheres but it has a ring around it, the exterior is segmented, it spins, and it glows purple.
As Daemos pointed, maybe this Sawada is inspired by movie Sawada, either with a new spin or not (maybe funny hair in line with Guile and Charlie?).
Interestingly enough, according to Alan Noon (SF: The Movie) Sawada was entirely Capcom Japan’s idea. They even chose the actor (Kenya Sawada, IIRC), who didn’t speak English, and apparently had further plans for the character or so was Alan’s impression.
Maybe many years later Capcom has decided they want to have a Japanese character in the anti-Shadaloo group and recalled the old idea of Sawada.
The real question is, which of those Air Force characters actually betrayed Nash? Somebody was flying that chopper that gunned down Nash. Someone that was a mole for Bison. And while Bison seems to get all the credit for killing Nash, nobody ever finds out who that chopper pilot was.
What would be interesting IMO is to know is if his feelings of resentment and envy for his brother started in this time period or earlier. I would like Capcom to explore his feelings for his brother and their relationship further. This will help give weight to his SF3 endings.
What can I say?..My Guilty Feet…HAVE NO RHYTHM!!! lightning strikes
Nice find with the chart!
Wow at Sawada though, kinda cool to see some more of Guile’s coworkers named. I wonder if one of them is the big guy we saw in the trailer for storymode (the one in the fatigue shorts who lowers his head as the timer activates. I immediately got hyped when I saw David, but this guy’s in air force? Maybe not the same guy…Ooorr maybe he transfers to the CIA later or something rabid speculation
