The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

I basically 100% agree with you on ALL counts. Good stuff. I also heavily support JuniXCammy. Very cute.

Oh and playable Azam needs to happen FUCKING YESTERDAY! That dude is not only awesome looking, but a cool-honorable guy that is also old wrestling buddies with Zangief. DAMN! That is almost too much awesome to be believed.

Oh and Bison is pretty cool in his interactions. Very much a “Raoh” type figure. “Are you strong? Prove it and you can serve me. Fail, and die. Whatevs, I don’t care.”

If you replay the character stories, do you earn fight money again?

I did not, no.

I wonder if everyones noticed that in Nashs story the cop Guile, Chun li, and cammy meet up in his story is actually in the future. You can tell because his body is all jacked in that panel. I barely noticed it.

speaking as a guy who played Mortal Kombat 10 it’s story was garbage. oh it had good production yes but it was still garbage. I also have played Injustice: Gods Among Us it’s story wasn’t good either. two games with actual great stories are the Last of Us and Witcher 3

I think this artwork implied that there were apprentice Dolls, so imo Shadaloo has indeed been abducting girls, but I’m guessing Fang is talking about specific upgrades he has given the main Dolls. Also the Masked Shadaloo officer is a background character in the 4 Kings Stage. He might end up being a challenge mode character or featured in storymode as an extra but I don’t think he’ll be that special in anyway (he’s only a ranking grunt after all, albeit a high one)

Idk if it’s retcon because he left in Alpha 2 only to be a member in Alpha 3. Karin and Chun seem to recognize him from a previous encounter, and while I don’t know if Chun’s encounter with him has been retconned to the one we see in her story, for Karin to recall his face would imply that some form of Alpha 3 occurred .

She’s like a female Ryu that’s stuck in the body of a female Ken. I don’t think she ever hated Sakura for beating her, I think it was always implied their rivalry was a friendly one. I just thought they depicted her as being a bit overzealous in accomplishing the goal of that rematch.

Azam is like the Middle Eastern Haggar in a sense that he trained with Zangief under the same master.

I don’t think Rashid’s friend is going to end up being one of the Dolls. He had mentioned that his friend was doing research at the S.I.N labs when they last contacted him. C.Viper also mentions that several hackers and researchers from S.I.N have gone missing, so I think Rashid’s friend is one of those researchers. I think the whole pose he does is just a cool pose he takes and nothing more.

My best guess as to why Nguuho tried to overthrow Bison the way they did was an attempt to take a rival crime syndicate down while they’re in the process of rebuilding. Shadaloo is recovering in power from whatever happened in SF2, plus the fact that this new base of theirs happens to be located in China. The local Nguuhao group had probably seen an opportunity to overtake Shadaloo’s resources in (what Nguuhao assumed) it’s weakest hour of reaching out for others to help. This plan proved horribly foolish and then cost them, but because Bison was ultimately searching for new blood he didn’t exterminate all of the Nguuhao, and left their leader alive as to test him. If Fang hadn’t had been able to hold out he definitely would have gone the way of Seth.

That’s because in the Udon timeline Charlie was brainwashed by Bison for a period of time before he died. This isn’t canon at all.

Bison brainwashes fighters by imbuing them with his Psycho Power, once they accept it, they become more powerful but lose their free will. All the Dolls are infused with Psycho Power for example. So was Violent Ken.

Hey at least Street Fighter is somewhat trying to keep consistent with each fighter’s power levels. We’re not getting a Cassie Cage kicking Shinnok’s ass here it seems.

I agree that Vega kind of got the short end of the stick. However, we can see there was some kind of drama going on between him and FANG. I also liked that they kept his relationship with Cammy. I want to see a lot more development in the update.
I wonder what else could’ve been done…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PgIva2QOlk (In all honesty, I was hoping for more stuff like this.)

But even if just Udin it would explain Charlie’s powers in V

btw why are in the pic above 15 dolls?

The three extra Dolls below the main 11 ( there are actually 14 if you count carefully, they’re excluding Juni because she’s been freed of brainwashing) are labeled “Apprentice Dolls”, or “Dolls in training”. This implies Shadaloo has been continuing to abduct girls from around the world, and training them in case they need one of them to fill in the gaps of the previous Dolls. Also I’m guessing it’s implied T Hawk’s SSF4 ending never occurred, as Juli had first been abducted by S.I.N from Shadaloo in the Juri OVA, and then re-abducted by Shadaloo once they had relinquished Seth of his management.

Is that chart implying that Shadaloo built a mecha-Zangief?

Well, I think her “bitch” attitude is mostly her rookie attitude. It’s mostly for character development. I do like it though.

I think the reason why Vega doesn’t kill Chun-Li is because he finds Chun-Li interesting (and beautiful). He won’t hesitate to assassinate anyone he deems unworthy or ugly. But when it comes to something beautiful, like Chun-Li, he won’t kill her.

Wait… is that Apocalypse?

X-men vs Street Fighter confirmed canon.

So Juni was somehow “saved” but Juli is still a doll?

This let me ask… Why Cammy only cared about Juni in the first place?

I agree with Super Sonic and bchan009 that the quality of story is going to be on par with The Ties that Bind and Juri is Amazing. This time it will be ingame instead of a separate anime and it will involve more characters but it’s most likely going to suck just as hard. I haven’t seen any sign of it being any better.

Upon hearing that fans wanted a story mode, Capcom just scrapped whatever abysmally bad new anime they were planning and put that effort in the story mode.

In my opinion, having power levels is much worse in the first place.

No that’s a monitor cyborg (from the game inspired by the movie).

Justify your statement.

Not much new info about the June cinematic story mode. Except that it’s gonna take about 1-2 hours to complete, and that it’s gonna explain M. Bison’s/shadaloo downfall.

I don’t appreciate them calling it ‘free’, because it isn’t. I paid for it and you owe me a story mode Capcom.

What’s all this talk about a Street Fighter V story mode? You gotta burn some muscle for that!

One thing that really irked me about power levels in DBZ is that they completely ignored the concept of technique. ‘If X’s power level was higher than Y’s, Y cannot defeat X, period’ kind of thing. If Dan gets a clean shot at Akuma’s nuts, Akuma should go down. If Sakura gets Gill in a sleeper hold, Gill should eventually pass out (before Resurrection! obv). Having power levels places an unnecessary constraint on story telling, even DBZ stopped giving out canon power levels after a while.
