They basically just fixed the inconsistent lore. Ryu has electric ki. Ken has fiery ki. It made no sense for Ryu to have Shakunetsu Hadoken. The only reason he ever got it was due to a graphical glitch in SF2.
Psycho Power?
Did would basicly mean Bison gave him this power, what would mean he has to be with Shadaloo.
Outside of Bison have only Cammy and Decapre Psycho Power.
From the Storymode it seems more that Charlies Power is the Satsui no Hado. It would explian a lot, if he would use the Satsui no Hado combined with his Sonic Moves.
Training. Ken is still in training, between his Job and his family. He keeps up with Ryu while having less time to practice.
Ken has also now a weaker version of his Senpukyaku he used as Supers while in V-Trigger.
Ryu seems to have changed the Shakunetsu Hadoken to a weaker version of the Shinku Hadoken, at least it appears like this.
So, Iâve finished all the stories first thing I got my game. And⌠it was just like how one guy in this thread said: thereâs only stills and no actual âstory modeâ. I know itâs gonna be included with the free update in March, but I donât think it will be any different than how Ties That Bind was a âstory animeâ for SFIV. Yep, no decent story for us this time, either.
Street Fighter story has always sucked. It always will suck. Even with the new story mode coming itâll be watered-down stereotypical low-tier anime trash. I fail to see how anyone could get hype over SF story EVER. And this is coming from someone whoâs seen every SF anime and played every game.
Thereâs lots of good anime/game/movie/comic story out there. SF will never be one of those. Get over it people. <3
Itâs supposed to. But itâll suck. Regardless of what mode they wrap it in, the actual story content will be worthless. Pretty much like it always has been.
Remember when Gouken just âwoke upâ? Yeah. This is gonna be that kind of âqualityâ.
Let me break down the SFV story because Iâm a true visionary:
Necalli is ogre from Tekken 3. He wakes up to fight people. Thatâs it.
Ryu is going to struggle with the dark hadou like he has since fucking 1999.
Cammy will be upset about being part of Shadowloo like she has since the mid 90s.
Gouki will grunt a lot.
Chun-Li/Charlie/Guile will circle jerk and talk about how they hate Shadowloo.
Everyone else will fight while trading one liners.
You people KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE. This is how the story has been, how it always will be. Gutter trash.
Not only do they say his full name, as mentioned before. They even show his dog tags again:
You know, dog tags like the ones from SF4.
So, whoever thinks that his dog tags in SF4 were still not canon and that Capcom of Japan decided to name him Charlie Nash in SF5, independently from the fact that you see his dog tags in SF4, well, these people cannot be helped anymore.
I mean, the facts are this: They name him Charlie Nash now, in the first game after the game where his full name was confirmed in a cutscene. And in the new game, not only do they speak his name aloud, they even use the same item as the previous game to show his name visually. So, obviously the item was always supposed to be canon and not an âeaster eggâ in SF4.
Definitely not a thing on top of a building. Itâs glowing purple and has the same hexagon design pattern as Bisonâs orb. Itâs also spinning while itâs up there. Dunno why it has a ring though. Might have to wait until June for that.
Rashid gets a lot messages.
Dan,Abel,Viper,Poison(or maybe Hugo) all of them send him messages.
Something else Rashid says in the german Version again âFreundinâ, Iâm sure itâs not his girlfriend but a female friend, what would explain why itâs in english just friend.
What I find interesting is that theyâve kept Gouken âawakeâ and in the pre-story to this. Hereâs hoping theyâll bring the old man back if they can figure out what they want to do with him this game. it felt like they had no direction with his attacks in IV, and he suffered because of it.
Hate to be the downer, but shortly-before-release stuff got me hypedâŚand the game itself has completely de-hyped me. This shit is straight-up SFxTekken x2. I can wait until June for story stuff (not that we should have to) but I have no real expectations for it. This is some slap-dash, half-assed crap right here. What a joke, Capcom. I hope this tanks the franchise so they can get bought out by an American company that has some fucking clue what theyâre doing.
Capcom: Weâre too fucking dumb to copy even 1% of the wildly successful competitor that is eating our lunch. Derpderpderp.
Mâkay, so I played through all the 16 character stories today, I guess Iâll write up some impressions
Ryu:
Really nothing much of importance was told in his character story. Itâs the same old shit about Satsui no Hado within him and how heâs afraid it might consume him, etc, etc. Boring.
Ken:
Weâve got to see young Mel, so thatâs nice. Also Ken looks weird in an evening suit, but I guess itâs mostly because Iâm not used to seeing him like that. Maybe that could become his future alt? Other than that, nothing special
Chun:
I think itâs interesting how we see Vega not killing Chun when he had the opportunity. Why is that? Was it pity because of her father? Was it a Cat and Mouse type of a game for him? Chun was also shown as kind of a bitch here, too arrogant
Cammy:
This is probably the most interesting one among all.
One - we find about this âOperation C.H.A.I.N.S.â that FANG speaks of. Is that the Bisonâs plan that involves those floating EMP spheres? Or is it related to the Dolls?
Two - we get to see Juni as a normal human being, so thatâs very cool. Obviously Cammy wants to protect her at all costs as she failed to protect Decapre
Three - Cammy x Juni. SHIPPING THIS SHIT SO HARD
Four - Juri is here! I wonder how did she track Cammy? Also what is she doing out there watching them like that? I suppose sheâs a free agent now since SIN is no more, but her appearance is definitely a pleasant surprise
Charlie/Nash:
Really nothing special other than it seems like this Helen character is going to play a major role in Nashâs actions in the story. But who the hell is she exactly? Is the with Illuminati? Is she with Bison? How did she find Charlie? Hell, how does she even know about him? A rather intriguing woman. Also what the fuck up is with Ed having Psycho Power!? Guess the kid that Balrog stole from SIN base really is indeed specialâŚ
But at the end there, Charlie seemed pretty damn ruthless. The âIâm not gonna let anybody stop meâ line IMO implies he wonât give a damn about his actions as long as it gets him closer to Bison to kill himâŚ
Bison
I wonder what the FANGâs syndicate was about in the first place. Are they just assassinâs so Bison saw their usefullness? Also it was pretty fucking stupid of them to âambushâ Bison like that, niggas clearly didnât know what they were doing, and perished for that mistake. FANG, however, might actually be quite a strong fighter if he could withstand Bisonâs attacks. Itâ also interesting how Bison let FANG not only live, but even join Shadaloo, so I guess this shows how Bison really doesnât give a shit even if you decide to betray him as long as youâre useful, probably one of the reasons Vega is still in the ranks despite being a pretty shady guy. Also new C. Viper design! I wonder how she managed to sneak into the base unnoticed, but itâs nevertheless pretty cool Capcom kept her in at least as a cameo
Vega:
Really fucking lame. I mean, Vega doesnât seem to like FANG, but thatâs pretty much it. Whatâs interesting though is FANG mentioning âNew and improved Dollsâ. Does he mean âNewâ as in ârevampledâ etc or did Shadaloo actually capture NEW girls beside the previousâŚ12, I think? (well, now 10 I suppose).
Also the masked Shadaloo officer shown behind Vega might play into the story, he has too much of a unique outfit to not be of a special person, Capcom wouldâve given him a regular Shadaloo uniform instead
Birdie:
Is him leaving Shadaloo on his own a retcon in this game? Itâs really weird how he just jumped off the fucking rooftop of a Shadaloo base like that, and even more strange that he survived
Karin:
Sheâs basically a female Ryu. Searching for strong opponents, looking for challenge, etc. Also sheâs fucking amazing. 10/10 gurl. Also fuck Schoolgirl Sakura.
Did they make Sakura/Karin rivalry a more of a friendly one? They seemed to be like Ryu and Ken there rather than two characters outright hating each other. It would show quite a maturity progress for both of them.
Also does Azam have his own tutoria/teaching video series about how to be a good Butler? LMAO
Mika:
Mikaâs story is really nothing much⌠just admiring Gief the entire time and stuff. Zangief also probably ships Mika x Laura. Iâm really surprised to see however the level of strength Mika has. I mean, resisting a whole big fucking bear!? Thatâs pretty rad. He got rekt by Gief though.
*inb4 Calling PETA
Gief:
Mostly same as Mika, BUT - I liked two moments.
One - him reading a wrestling magazine with Mikaâs Alpha 3 art on the cover
and Second - him being friends with Azam. I wonder how did the two get to meet each other? Seems they have quite a deep of a story going there. Would really love to learn more about that
Dhalsim:
I like that Dhalsim is the ultimate teacher of Yoga willing to spread the knowledge about the art. I actually love his character in this game in general, heâs like the all-knowing master. It was also pretty damn cool to see Oro! I guess Dhalsim and Oro have respect towards each other because they both practice the ancient arts and they are both teachers. But that cop learning how to breathe fire in such a short time is bullshit lol
Rashid:
Now, THIS is the interesting part. Rashid mentioned his âFriendâ being kidnapped by Shadaloo, but while Azam is present. So I guess either Shadaloo captures both Azam AND that friend, or Rashidâs friend is a different person altogether. Iâm still hoping that itâs one of the Dolls, hence how Rashid learned the Shadaloo pose he does as his victory animation. Rashid also seems like a pretty cool guy, and Iâm glad heâs on the hero team. Seeing him fighting FANG probably implies that heâs connected to Rashidâs friend, which also leads me to believe itâs one of the Dolls, or someone who serves under Shadaloo
Laura:
I seriously donât know what the fuck is this character doing in this game. Sheâs just there, an obvious shoe-in. Nevermind the fact that her story is an exact replica of Makoto - promoting her matrial arts by competing against strong opponents and letting everybody know how cool Matsuda Jiujitsu is. Makoto also inteded to use the SF4 tournament for promoting Rindoukan Karate
FANG:
Doesnât show much except from letting us see some of the scenes from Bisonâs story using a different perspective. Still wondering though why did the Nguuhao clan decide to overthrow Bison like that. They couldnât possibly be this fucking stupid, right?
Necalli:
I⌠honestly donât know what to say. The way they showed Necalli âconsumingâ powerful souls is not something youâd usually see in a Street Fighter game. Like itâs taken straight out of some anime series, and also kinda reminds me of Spider-Man comicsâ Symbiotes in a sense that they overwhelm the body of other person. And also the ending scene of his character story is probably the first chapter of the Cinematic Story weâre getting in June. Since Necalliâs artwork has shown the India stage, I suppose thatâs where Necalli resides/is in a slumber, and thatâs where he starts wreaking havoc when shit hits the fan and itâs possible Bison is responsible for waking Necalli up
Overall, I DID like the mode, but I have some complaints as well
some of the artwork is downright garbage. Itâs okay for the most part and I appciate some of the nods to older character endings from previous games like the Charlie and Ken stories
You canât lose in the story battles. No matter what, you need to win to move the story forward. They donât show you an alternate outcome of the battle. BlazBlue, for example, might alter the entire character sidestory should you lose just one and worst case - it wonât let you open the True Ending even if you complete all the sidestories there
Lots of character stories in SF5 overlap. I.e. Cammy and Vega, or Ryu and Rashid, or Mika and Zangief
The stories are very short. They did pour in some interesting story moments that are hinting at what weâll be seeing in the cinematic story mode come June, but just a couple of cutscenes? Come on, they donât even tell you much about certain characters at all, and actually might confuse you futther (Necalliâs story is basically one big WTF moment)
The ingame animations done speficially for the Story mode are damn nice though
