Was his name actually different?
I know he was in japan only known as Nash, but here in europe he is named as Charlie Nash since the first Alphagame came out. In the character selects(Alpha1-3,MVC2) he is just named Charlie.
I even wrote in my fanstorys(yes I write this) every time Guile talked about him Charlie or Charlie Nash.
Has there something changed now? I would have to correct this stuff then.
Surprisingly no. We know his fighting style is parkour, and we know he really likes gadgets, technology. We know that he is wearing an array of it all over his body (shoes, head, arms, backpack, belt). We also know that he is bffs with Viper, who also has a penchant for technology.
Take all this circumstantial evidence, and the idea that he relies on technology to boost and modify his parkour makes perfect sense. More so than Wind Powers at least. We already have Agni, the fire god, we really donât need a wind god making claims now too. I hope so at least.
Thereâs definitely nothing quite like Necalli in Aztec mythology. But I can agree with the person who posted before me, thereâs the idea of world devastation cycles in the cosmovision of Aztecs.
The closest thing I can bring to Necalli would be the idea of some âfilthy angel womenâ (too bad right now I canât remember exactly the name) that come down from the sky to devour-our race. Like Evangelion, only less sexy.
Why would it need to be a god? Pretty much every other character that uses elements does so simply by transforming their chi into it. I donât see why it would be any different for Rashid.
No, but his attacks are presented in a way that would suggest an external source is generating the wind he uses. Rashid is in the same boat as Dhalsim when it comes to their fighting styles actually being martial arts. Although Simâs Yoga is explicitly explained to some esoteric mystic version, Rashidâs Parkour isnât explained away in this fashion. Instead he was given an abundance of technology and gadgetry to wear, which includes a small jetpack. So like how Simâs use of Yoga aids his fighting style, Rashidâs style is too aided by the use of his technology. So while his overall style may aid him to control the winds, the jetpackâs thrust would be generating the source of winds.
Similarly C.Viper has access to jetpack technology in the form of her rockets located in the heel of her boots. She has her lab coat alt in SF4, and while she keeps her patented shock gloves on, sheâs now wearing stilettos which *arenât * typically part of her spy suit which she stated is one of a kind.
Although I suppose you could make an argument she modified her S.I.N Lab disguise to include just her shock gloves and (red) rocket heels, but itâs not something the concept art for this particular costume intended. Something her 2nd concept art for the *full *battle suit did.
Itâs Feb 16th tomorrow which means SFV is finnaly coming out in Russia! Hopefully Iâll be able to enjoy the shit out of the game, at least narrative-wise
Imo itâs very possible some particular alternate costumes may be feasibly used in canon. Like in USF4 Omega mode, some moves are a combination of techniques seen in previous games, and original moves which may or may not be feasible for the practitioner. For example; Gouken has an Omega mode exclusive technique which turns his overall SF4 intro into a usable move.
This is not too far fetched to think possible, as Rose has a usable move in SSF4 which is based off of her SFA intro. It had not been a featured technique in the game it appeared in, but made so later in the series (Soul Satellite).
So while some costumes are obviously non canon, a select handful could be considered to be the case.
No I donât think Seth is powered by a pumpkin in his stomach, but I do think he is powered by massive amounts of ki energy generated by his Tanden Engine. This theory is supported by one of his alts.
I also believe Seth has access to tailor made suits and dress boots in TTTB anime feature and concept art. The bottom half of this suit is what clearly makes up one of his alts.
So while some alts could be considered canon, some are obviously not. Like this concept sketch of M.Bison had he inhabited one of the spare âSethâ bodies made for him.
Oooh and if anyone wants to argue about the validity of USF4 Omega moves just because Ken can fire Hadoken from his feet, Iâll have to remind people that the Dragon Ball equivalent to this technique; the Kamehameha, can also be fired from the feet.
Man, I wish that suit alt for Seth had been a thing. Anything that would have covered up the Tandem Engine, which they went out of their way to ensure was in every single altâŚ
SF3:3s has been 5 years after SF2 since the 90s AFAIK, nothing so far as changed in that regard.
Mel is 3 yo in SF3:NG/2i, and he is at least a year and half in Kenâs SF5 prologue. So SF3:NG/2i is at least 18 months away in the old timeline. Itâs possible that SF3:NG will end up getting moved up 6 months to a year (or more?), we wonât know for sure until we see SF5âs story. Loosely speaking though (and sans certain characters ages), Capcom are sticking with the old timeline of events.
Interestingly, Gillâs arrival takes place 4 months after an apocalyptic event. So SF5 needs to do the bulk of its shit in a timeframe of about a year, then 4 months later the Illuminati tournament should start. Or something like that.
I wasnât being serious, rather only mocking the increasingly mystical state of affairs weâre in.
Sliding timeline?
Generally yes, alt costumes are not canon. But if they appear in the actual story anywhere then they ought to be considered as such IMO. So Sethâs tailor made suits are canon for example.
Interesting how 2 of those SF4 alts basically evolved in Bisonâs existing 2 alts. The long trenchcoat look was clearly conceived here before SF5, but we also see the eccentric gold armor and the "final Bisonâ concept arts carry over to SF5 too. The temp body alt wouldâve been really fun to play with. It at least gives us an idea of how Bison would go on about his day while inhabiting one of those human incubators.
There had been artwork done by Akiman which had featured Chun and Li Fei together, and had depicted them having known each other at least since SF2 era. Although this artwork was done as more of a tribute piece rather than game concept art so it has no real place in canon. Itâs just interesting to see.
Yea i noticed how the first sketch highly resembles Bisonâs damaged alt for SFV more than it does for SFIVâs battle damaged costume. This wouldnât be not surprising as âHot Ryuâ was a concept originally derived from scrapped designs in SFIV. I always found it odd how even though Bison had these spare bodies made for him that they never actually showed him inhabiting one. I wouldâve actually liked to see Bison after he managed to pull off a body swap.
I wouldâve enjoyed it better than the Power Ranger Bison alt.
Iâve never seen that piece of art before, do you know when is it from? Anyway, itâs gorgeous! Honda looks like a boss, lol at Boxer, and now I really am curious about this girl. I always thought that she was conceived to give Chun-li something to do after she retired from Interpol. But here it seems that the idea of having her as a single independent mother was already floating around.
I like this unconventional direction for the character a lot. Who needs a man when youâre the strongest woman in the world?
Edit-
Ken is holding what looks like a Sakura figure, so this has got to be at least from Alpha 2. But does it predate 3s?
