Capcom has** absolutely **ruled out a crossover with MK.
Weâve also known that Urien is a more twisted kind of evil than Gill is from the games themselves. Iâm not sure why you are bringing up the Udon comics as a reference for this.
@Daemos : I know right? But thereâs always additional content. Every DLC character has their own story chapter. And who knows? Maybe weâll get additional character stories of the old characters as well.
There will probably release another set of character stories a year or two down the line, just like they did with SSF4. With better production qualities too, just like SSF4.
Maybe even an anime?
Whatâs helping me come to terms with this âbarebonesâ release is that it is the equivalent of Vanilla arcade SF4 rather than Vanilla consoles SF4. Arcade SF4 actually had static images for endings just like old SF games. We should be getting the SF5 equivalent of the Consoles SF4 in about 1 year, and equivalent of SSF4 in about 2 years.
Whatever happens, I am almost certain that we will get more than these character stories and the cinematic story in june. Itâs practically SF tradition to keep expanding the story over time rather than deliver it one lump sum. The problem with this method is that it risks the story becoming disjointed and distorted, leaving stuff more open to interpretation. On the bright side, it gives us something to argue over.
Ryu Final takes place around the time of SF3:3s and beyond (or 2-3 years in SF5âs future). At this point in the timeline, Oro and Ryu never met one another, Sean didnât meet Ryu and Ken either, Alex did not meet Ryu, Gill did not reveal his existence, and Akuma is on holiday in the Tekken universe.
Iâd love for a many things in Ryu Final to be absorbed into the mainline series though, but SF6 probably.
Yes, weâve pretty much always known Urien is much more evil than Gill. Gill seems like a deluded whack-a-dooâŠsomeone that THINKS theyâre actually doing good because theyâre a delusional goober. Urien though? He has no illusions about the cruelty required of ruling through the sort of power he and Gill wield. Thatâs why, ultimately, Urien is not only a better villainâŠbut a more effective one. Gillâs an absolute failure as a villain, fit only to inevitably fall to Urien.
Also that comic is a perfect example of why I hate fights in modern comics (both martial arts comics and otherwise). The fight had NO thought in it what-so-ever. There was no actual story to the combat and it was nothing but a prop. A one-sided slug-fest that then changes gearsâŠinto a one-sided slug fest. Booooring. So few writers bother to do anything, oh I dunno, CLEVER in any of these fights.
You never get stuff like Ryuâs duel with DudleyâŠor even his skirmish with Yun & YangâŠ
Hell, the Hong Kong KOF comics I have typically have better combat in them with FAR better story-telling in the fights where you can see how one thing goes into another.
I may have to conclude that were both right with this speculation on Fang, although I donât think his ki usage is to generate the actual poisonous fireballs and gas. During his idle animation he goes into a stance where he rhythmically waves his arms up in down which is usually associated with qigong.
Although I donât believe this ki use aids him in the production of his poisonous projectiles, which seem to be liquid in nature based on the sound of the projectiles, and how they react upon collisions. That and the fact his sleeves keep some sort of bacelet device hidden. In fact I think his ki use is for a more beneficial purpose of aiding his bodies immunity from the high amount of toxins coursing through him. Of course this is all speculation from observation.
Actually, there was an interview direct from the developers where they clearly state that his name officially became âCharlie Nashâ specifically in Street Fighter 5.
We already had this discussion several weeks ago. But, every one here hates Vasili so much that they decided to conveniently ignore it:
English translation:
http://www.4gamer.net/games/283/G028399/20151222170/
Original Japanese:
âćźăŻććăć€ăăŁăŠăăŸăăŠăăčăVă§ăŻăăŁăŒăȘăŒă»ăăă·ă„ăšăăććă«ăȘăŁăŠăăăă§ăăăâ
âActually, his name has also changed. In SF5, his name has become âCharlie Nashâ.â
I donât give a crap about the pissing war you guys have with Vasili. Not interested in getting involved with that.
But, this quote is clear as day. His name was NOT officially âCharlie Nashâ before SF5. Straight from Capcomâs mouth. So, in that regard Vasili was right.
His name appeared as Charlie Nash in Guileâs SF4 prologue. Therefore, his name has officially been changed to Charlie Nash since at least then. Actions speak louder than words. /discussion
I know, and I actually assumed the bracelet generated poison until I saw the part about ânatural poison within the userâs bodyâ in FANGâs prologue. It isnât exactly unheard of for ki (or chi, as he is Chinese) to take unconventional forms outside of fire/electricity:
-Guile/Nash create sonic booms of raw force
-Remyâs projectiles are formed of light energy
-Gill manifests ice as attacks
Also, the inconsistency in the physical state of his poisons means either he generates them as ki techniques or creates both liquid (poison shots) and gaseous (poison cloud, V-Trigger) versions of his poison. He also seems to lack those bracelets in his story alt, which is the typical uniform for his cartel. The other cartel members in his prologue also comment on his attack being âpotentâ, which means his poisons are stronger than normal. If it were a device, his poisons would be the same as everyone elseâs.
Cycles of various things (including disasters) are a common theme in Mesoamerican cultures and fiction related to them. Canât really pick one, but for example there was the idea that they were not living in the first iteration of the world, and because it was still imperfect, the gods would come back when the cycle ended and start another one.
Anyone else feel like after this arc (necalli, bison, ryu) capcom will delve into the retelling of sf3 and the Alex, urien, and gill arc? Since theyâre taking story far more seriously this time.
Ah, ok. Thank you. I did some reading into Tezcatlipoca which is the only name that pops up if you Google âAztec Boogeymanâ, but he doesnât seem to be related.
In my opinion, villains who think they are going whatâs good for everyone, who think that they are absolutely correct are the most dangerous ones. There isnât a line they wonât cross when it comes down to that and still somehow justify that in their own twisted way.
Being Evil Sucks: Strangely enough, a feeling given off in the Full Length CG Trailer. It starts out with Bison silently walking alone in a huge metal passageway, holding his military cap in his hand, at a slow pace. After a few cuts to other characters, we are shown Bison again. He slowly lifts the cap back on his head, and adjusts it into place at full military attention. He looks old because his hair is white, and the expression on his face is neutral and without feeling⊠almost like heâs just going through the motions. Then the doorway to a chamber containing his waiting enemies begins to opens. He then looks up, and puts on the smug evil grin heâs infamous. But think about it for awhile⊠this is the pure evil Bison weâve always known and loved to hate. Up to this point, heâs failed many times over, and his dreams for world conquest and unlimited power have been foiled time and time again. Now he goes to battle again, unable to rely on anyone but himself (since his enemies are now at his doorstep) and unable to bribe or threaten his opponents into submission. Heâs not going to give up. Not now. Not ever. And yet that entire scene seems to give off this feeling itâs something he getting tired of⊠that itâs become a routine he doesnât like doing. Itâs like an unspoken moment that under all the hatred and sin is still something that can grow tired and want to stop pointless repetition. That maybe the smug smile of arrogance is more fake than even his enemies are aware. What sort of thoughts were going through his head, as he walked from his throne room down that long corridor, before facing his destiny once again?
I know this wonât be popular, but due to the recent flood of Ingrid images on this board, I actually studied the design for a minute (for the first time). What caught my eye, were the things she wears in her head. They look like the Sun or Sunflowers. I couldnât narrow down their origin, but Iâm kind of sure itâs something from Norse or Celtic mythology. Can someone shed some light?
You are correct that ki can take forms outside of fire and electricity, but they are usually tied to a certain force. Sound, light, gravity, temperature, and basic kinetic movement itself can be manifested through ki because they are all inexplicably linked through the wave motion of energy. A malicious ki can be described as poisonous due to its detrimental effects to living matter (SnH for example), but it in itself is not a literal poison. Poison is usually something that is made through a biologic or chemical process, not through a force.
Fang uses literal poisons derived from natural toxins produced in the body. A regular human body produces toxins naturally that it regularly expels as waste, so unless some sort of drug is involved, your body wont produce enough toxins to be deadly to you, or anyone else. This is another reason why I think even though the poison maybe from a natural source, the methods used to produce the excessive quantities is abnormal.
When Fang talks about the natural poison is produced within the users, the picture shows the users applying this poison to their arms and palms. So obviously this poison that has been produced in their body has now been extracted from them, and put into this vessel, so that they have the means of applying it to themselves. Because it serves no practical use inside their body, besides building up their immunity, which may not prove successful depending on the user.
The way these children are applying this salve is in the exact method you would apply a Dit Da Jow to the forearms and palms. Dit Da that have been claimed to contain poisonous ingredients, have been known to stain the users fingers and palms black after prolonged use. Fangâs hands and fingers are similarly stained, because of the amounts of poison he has handled over time. A martial artist who typically used poison in their formulas would try to break skin in their fights, in order for the poison to enter the blood stream to take effect. Fang mentions in his fight with Bison how many scratches he had given him, and basically was waiting for his poison to take effect the exact same way.
Remember that Rashids jetpack isnât present in his alt, which is the key to how he generates his whirlwinds. So costumes donât generally reflect on how the characters canon skill set should originate.
Although the bracelet devices are also featured in Fangs storymode alternate, this might mean all of the Nguuhao members use this tech, but not necessarily mean all the poisons used are the same. I feel this device is whatâs used to keep the userâs hands constantly supplied with fresh poison, so they wont have to manually apply new batches. I also believe this device generates his globs of poison and gas by extracting poison directly from his body, or via a container under his clothing.
Fang was Nguuhaoâs lead assassin, and from his conversation with Vega about the Dolls, he seemâs to be very bright and keen on mentioning a lot about upgrades. Iâm pretty sure with his background the sciences he was able to modify his own customized poisons, which he then became immune to and used. So the poisons ability to melt something might just be a modification Fang exclusively added himself. His win quote to Necalli supports this as he asks himself; âWhat kind of poison is gonna take effect?â, which may imply he has different types.
His use of ki energy would best aid him in the building of his strong immunity to poison, and especially since the qigong form he takes is basically used to promote health and circulation. From his physical appearance he doesnât look too healthy, so ki energy may be whatâs helping him hold himself together, with all the poison running through him.
Anyone who wants the story of SF3 can play SF3 or go on youtube. SF4 and SF5 touched on their predecessors through flashback sequences, and thatâs the only way Iâd like SF3 revisited personally. I donât want a redux of the Illuminati tournament. SF5 has 3 years of story to fill up between SF4 and SF3. After this, letâs go beyond 3s into new territory.
This is great.
I did consider what was going on through Bisonâs head as he walked down that corridor. I tried to see things from all angles to best understand this circumstance. Like how for all these heroes their lives have been building up towards this climactic battle for the fate of the world. Their minds are racing with burgeoning feelings of anxiety, anger, hate, fear, and hope. All thoughts converging onto one critical moment that will decide everything for everyone once that door opens. This one chance is all they have, this one fight is the only opportunity they will ever get. Then it came to me, and I realized that the most obvious thought going through Bisonâs head was quite simply, âjust another Tuesdayâ.
I think theyâre gonna start retelling SF3 in this game. Iâm still wondering why that little girl is with Chun despite Chun not adopting her until after 3S. Iâd be in favor of a retelling of SF3 too, since all and all, a lot less happens in that series compared to the rest of the series.
No where is it mentioned that the little girl was adopted after 3s AFAIK. It makes perfect sense for Chun-Li to begin showing a vested interest in adopting and/or teaching children before SF3. Hence why she took Urienâs kidnapping of the girl so personally.
Yeah but the dialogue in her 3s story implies, or rather, fails to imply that Chun or the girl know each other or at least know each other in the way they would if they lived together for an extended period of time. She doesnât refer to the girl by name, and vise versa. It overall makes more sense to assume they didnât know each other prior to the kidnapping (or didnât know each other well), but if sheâs with Chun in SFV, that kinda makes everything more confusing unless they have an explanation.
This mainly because the story of Chun-Li and the children was conceived 20 years ago by completely different people who had no idea we would be here today. Capcom of today are attempting to bridge the gaps in the story while respecting the limits that SF3 introduced (I.E. with the minimum amount of retcons). SF5 can really develop Chunâs story in many ways because 3s left Chunâs story very open ended.
