so, how old is Sean in SFV? Is he a teenager? 16-17? Because I think Laura is 22-23 years oldâŚ
I think these characters could be playable characters in next DLCs:
Ed (Presumably the kid saved by Balrog in SFIV)
Some dolls with new designs (Bisonâs story)
Helen (Looks like a friend of Nash)
Azam (A friend of Rashid)
and I am sure that these characters (who physically appears on the story mode) will be playable in 2017:
Crimson Viper (Bisonâs story)
Sakura (Karinâs story)
Decapre (Cammyâs story)
Juni (Cammyâs story)
Oro (Dhalsimâs story)
Sean (Lauraâs story)
Gouken (Ryuâs story)
Anyway, Helen strikes me more as an NPC than a future playable character. But I would be open to a pleasant surprise, especially if she keeps the winter outfit.
Not sure yet about Sean and some of the SF4 characters. Something that was said about the goals of this prologue story was to encompass the full history in such a way that it has what anyone (presumably someone who knew nothing) would need to know about the story before the cinematic one, collected in one place.
And part of that isnât seen yet (esp. Alex and Guile) but for the most part I think we have seen most of the relevant players, so I think it says more about who is unmentioned than who is mentioned. I.e., Rose and Fei Long seem to be out of the spotlight this time around, because they have backstory that would have needed to be touched on.
So Oro seems like a strong possibility at the moment, at least, because it seems like they want you to know about him ahead of time.
Anyone else think she is Nashâs assigned handler in the Illuminati? She does show concern for him in the first cutscene, but this is not unheard of (Gill and Kolin). In the second cutscene, she clearly knows the events of Nashâs âdeathâ. She asks him if he remembers his fight with Bison. This scene takes place in the Russian stage, which isnât exactly âlegalâ. She has intel on Charlieâs current status in the military (KIA). She also knows of Bisonâs grand plan (but not his current location). Also, whatâs the symbol on her sleeve?
So Iâm in full conspiracy/speculation mode and Iâm killing a bit of time, so Iâm obsessing over these Ono tweets:
I know heâs kidding on stuff and we should take it with a grain of salt (especially the last one), but he at least seems open to the ideas (namely Blanka ones and Q) compared to this:
Not as joking and light as the above, but more of a âIâm not saying never buuuuuutâŚâ answer.
Guys just because a character appears in the story mode does not mean they will become playable DLC. For a character to become DLC, Capcom laid out 3 criteria - story, community support (read: profitability), and fighting niche.
All of these characters appeared in the story mode in some capacity.
Spoiler
Since this is the story thread, whatâs important to look for here is whether or not this character is going to have âfightingâ interactions with others.
Sakura
Oro
Sagat
Abel
Poison
Viper
Rose
Decapre
Juni
Xiayu
Enero
Jianyu
Sean
Ed
Helen
Gouken
Azam
Of all the characters, only Sakura, Oro, and Viper have been hinted to get involved in fighting in the coming story. The rest are just there.
Karin seeks out Oro, but Oro senses another (bets on Necalli right now, Oro is probably one of the few characters that can hand Necalli his blobby ass on a platter). This makes me believe that Oro is the most likely second season candidate.
Sakura recently arrived to the Kanzuki estate, presumably to participate in Karinâs little affair. So there is a strong chance she will make it in soon.
Viper is gonna have a strong presence in the story it seems. Leaking info deus ex machina style to characters left and right (something she was already prone to doing since SF4). However, Viper doesnât have to be playable to do this. She is the biggest maybe of the 3 I just mentioned. After Juri, she is the SF4 character most likely to join, so she has that community support helping her.
I think several dolls will be fightable in the story mode and trials. Weâve seen Capcom actually bother to make some of the Shadaloo soldiers fightable for the trials. It isnât farfetched to assume they will make Decapre and others fightable in some capacity. They are Cammy re-skins/head swaps essentially. This IMO disqualifies them from being DLC for the time being. But I think we will see most of them in 3D.
Juni is out of it. Abel is out. Sagat is in the mountains training, this could be a sign that he is out story-wise.
Rose is the biggest WTF so far. Bison is about to do the very thing she has struggled to stop. Something is up. But at least Capcom havenât forgotten her. Her being the âJokerâ card in Nashâs deck could be symbolic of something⌠Anything⌠Nevermind
Helen doesnât look like a fighter. Total NPC.
Ed is not a fighter, heâs a child, a prop and a literary tool.
We will probably see a 3D modeled version of Azam for the cinematic story, but thatâs about it. He is Rashidâs Nadeshiko or Shibasaki.
I think Gief and Mikaâs muscle adventures in the ring could attract other wrestler types. I think a Hugo with Poison duo getting involved down the line is a legitimate possibility. I recall her messaging Rashid something about this. Canât be bothered to check right now.
[details=Spoiler]Everyone thinks that at the moment, lol.
Iâm not sure what the symbol on her sleeve is but trust me I looked and searched. The red and yellow give me Soviet Russia, along with her accent. But it could also be one of those European family crests/coat of arms. Once we have a better shot of it, it will narrow our search. [/details]
There was also that as-yet-unnamed guy in the control room, in the cinematic trailer. I donât think having a cinematic model necessarily means âplayable.â Might be a bit meta, but maybe part of what makes my head say non-playable is that she doesnât really have anything abnormal about her. You know how every SF5 character has to have something off-kilter. They would add something to her design, maybe some kind of weapon.
While weâre at it, that policeman from Dhalsimâs story has a 3D model too.
So, different topicâŚ
[details=Spoiler]Something that came to mind is âWhy is Viper involved with Rashid?â He is more or less a nobody story-wise at the beginning. She seems to be giving him preferential treatment, which probably means she has some role in mind for him, but then sheâs also telling him to stay away. Whatâs her plan for him?
Further thought would suggest it has something to do with the icon he received âfrom his friend,â but thatâs a deadend as far as speculation goes, except that âsomeoneâ is attempting to entangle him in the story.[/details]
Azam was a wrestler fighter, wasn´t he? I think he could be a playable character (similar to Haggar? who knowsâŚ). Why are you sure that Ed is not a fighter? We don´t know that yet. He has some kind of power (probably Psycho Power), he could use it, he is on Shadaloo after all
[details=Spoiler]Ed is a child, and like the member of the final generation of Human Incubators created by SIN before their collapse. He was bred for once purpose only and thatâs to become host to Bisonâs soul if it ever needed him. His ability to wield Psycho Power is likely a byproduct of the genetic material that went into engineering him, which is Bisonâs DNA.
I donât think he is interesting enough to become his own full fledged playable character, which is why he will likely remain as an NPC. Heâs there for story purposes most likely. Likewise, Azam was created to be a story-related side kick to Rashid only.
IMO, any future NEW characters will likely be completely new, therefore none of the characters weâve seen so far.[/details]
Helen is Kolin under a cover name, and sheâs doing matrix-style stuff to warm Nash up to the Illuminatiâs goals. Instead of tossing her organization at him all at once, she his working him into a fervor so that his hatred for Bison makes him slavishly obedient.
Helen is just another Illuminati member, based in Russia. While we really donât know why Nash was buried in Russia, it may be in order to put him in proximity with Helen. Between the star on her hat and her name (Helen=Hellenic Culture, like President Gill), sheâs definitely Illuminati.
Ed
Spoiler
I am very sure that Ed will inherit Bisonâs throne post-SF3. They seem to be setting him up as an antagonist in the making. He comes off as an ass, and I think he will be Street Fighterâs Hazama/I-No in SF6.
And I donât consider Sagat out of the running yet. I want him there, tearing down the monster (Shadowloo) he helped create. Of particular interest would be his interactions with Ryu (Ryu Final time?), Nash (he WAS a member of Shadowloo at that time, and a high-ranking one no less), Bison (after not-so-nicely turning down his offer before SF4), and FANG (canât wait to see how Sagat feels about his âreplacementâ).
To recreate the important parts of Ryu Final, we need: Alex (already coming), Oro, Sagat (both will probably come soon), Hugo/Poison, Dudley, and Akuma. Coincidentally, all of those characters are fairly well-requested, though Hugo may have some trouble making the cut.
[details=Spoiler]Zangief implies that Azam and him had trained together at some point. Which would make him somewhat akin to Haggar in that aspect.
Another thing I noticed about Azamâs overall design is how it borrows heavily from a certain forgotten Street Fighter who also rivaled Gief in his respective series.
I believe it was BornFree who came up with this one, but look here:
The guy in the back. Thatâs Matthew McCoy of Delta Red. We could be seeing more of them this time around.
Re: Rashid and Viper
Rashid is the eldest son of an extremely rich and influential Arab family. I think it follows the expected stereotype for his family to have connections to the CIA. It may help explain his advanced gadgetry. They also know each other on a first name basis. Viper would not reveal her first name to just about anyone, she is a spy after all. [/details]
@just5moreminutes
I really doubt Sagat helped create Shadaloo. He was the organizationâs strongman for a fraction of its total history.
