The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

One of the best parts of these scenes is that Capcom CLEARLY LABELS which scenes are flashbacks. So there’s no reason to have any of that “this scene probably doesn’t actually take place during the game, but is referencing a scene that took place before” nonsense.

If it’s not labeled a flashback, I think it’s safe to assume that the scene takes place during the time period of SF5.

After seeing the release schedule, and seeing that the Story Mode is being released after the first 3 DLC characters, and assuming that the DLC characters get released in the order of that image Capcom released, I honestly think that Story mode is on hold specifically because Guile and Balrog will be playable or playable against in it.

I agree. I didn’t like Necalli before when he just seemed like some weirdly anachronistic Aztec style fighter.

Now that he’s literally some kind of blob monster that absorbs people, he’s right up there with the other freak characters that feel like they completely undermine SF.

I do like how well-explained FANG’s powers are within his prologue. He generates poison himself (is that a ki technique?) and, since his fight with Bison has him talking about scratching him with his nails, the poison is probably must enter the target’s blood stream. While FANG’s strikes probably use some liquid poison, I think his VT and projectiles also harness a gaseous form of the poison. Very interesting details they gave. While no country is ever properly specified as FANG’s origin, the name of his cartel sound faintly Chinese. If this is true, or if they are at least active in China, I might expect Chun and Yun/Yang to know about them.

I think he is Chinese as well. I think Chun-Li makes a remark about how he possibly misspelt the symbol on his costume. Is it because she is Chinese and so is the symbol?

Yeaaahhhhhh. No thanks.

another thing about Majin Bu was his official back story is that he exist since time immemorial and cycled between rampages and long hibernation . there’s barely any explanation for Bu unlike Cell and Freiza. Bu was just there he came completely out of nowhere in the series with barely explanation of why he existence in the first place. most fans of Dragon Ball dislike Majin Bu.

if you ask any fan of DBZ who the worst villain in the series was it would most likely be Majin Bu, and if you ask any fan of DBZ who the best villain in series was no doubt it would likely be Freiza.

I literally lost interest in anything DBZ related after the frieza saga. The scope got too big, power levels got too stupid, and threats became meaningless with death being a revolving door. At this point there are literally characters who blow up galaxies. When dragon ball z started it was a big deal that you could lift tiny rocks with your aura of manliness.

next to the Saiyan Saga the Freiza Saga was the best saga in the Dragon Ball Z series. in fact Dragon Ball Z should have ending with the Freiza Saga even a former DB manga editor agrees. as for the Bu saga it should have never happen.

Eh, maybe the Cell and Buu sagas aren’t as good as the Saiyan and the Frieza sagas, but both Cell and Buu sagas did have their moments

  1. Vegeta finally kicked some ass and even went toe to toe with SemiPerfect Cell

  2. Vegeta went SSJ

  3. Gohan went SSJ

  4. Krillin got something good going for him after being a bastard child of the series for so long in form of Android 18

  5. Tien was fucking badass…until he literally killed himself

  6. FUCKING VEGITO

  7. The second Goku vs Vegeta fight

  8. FUCKING MYSTIC GOHAN

  9. And this…is to go…even FURTHER BEYOND…aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

Aside from that - yeah, I do feel that perhaps the series should’ve if not ended then at least stopped at the Frieza saga for a few years. Maybe we could’ve avoided GT then

Or you could just watch it on YouTube:

Nah man, I don’t wanna ruin the experience and want to play through the story myself. Else what’s the point of having it in the game in the first place?

I remember being that way (2 days ago). You’re in for a real surprise.

Has there ever been a hint of a connection between Alex and Guile? I know Tom is like a mercenary or something and Alex has always had a little military flavor to him

I mainly ask because I just blew my own mind by making the connection of Guile=Flash Kick and Alex=Flash Chop. :bee:

I hope this doesn’t get too off topic, I think a Dragon Ball (OG) and Street Fighter would fit better. Is that just me?

[details=Spoiler]Well imo I think that Capcom for the most part wants to keep a lot of the events from SF4 to SF5 linear. The SFV stories specifically tells you what’s a flashback event and whats presently occurring. If they wanted to present this as part of Gouken’s ending they could have inexplicably linked the two by using the audio or exact scripting from the ending where he seals Ryu off from the SnH. They did this referencing Cammy’s fight with Decapre in USF4, so in my mind it would be peculiar for Ryu’s prologue to not be presented in that fashion, if the events are placed in a game depicting past events.

It just keeps things simpler to say Gouken’s endings in both SF4 and SSF4 already occurred, instead of leaving his one ending in the future just because Ryu and Ken want to say their goodbyes. I mo Ken wouldn’t be frantically running after someone just to say goodbye if he’s already been in touch with Gouken for sometime.[/details]

To answer this question: no. I’ve found an old post floating around what Rashid calls “the net” that describes a bit more about the basic of what FANG’s style is based upon in reality.

So FANG’s art doesn’t revolve around energy manipulation and is based on a very old and deadly Chinese tactic. I think there are devices around his wrist that his qipoa keeps hidden which expels the poison gas and sludge.

You forgot to mention how both of them have insatiable appetites.

Buu: "BUuuu EaT Yoooo!!! TUuuurn UUuuuu inTo CHocoLAtE!!!"
POOF (Buu magically turns people into chocolate and eats them)

Necalii: “DeVouR!!!..Our…ou…”
(stretches out arm and proceeds to consume)

I still think Cell Saga was the most brilliantly crafted. Saiyan Saga was great but in retrospect was pretty short. Frieza Saga was just drawn out way too long because it was supposed to be the end, but definitelt had cool moments. Buu Saga was kind of just more of the same presented differently. It was so different from the other three sagas. It delved into the lore of Dragon Ball, Goku wasn’t the one to end it, the villain brought things back to what everything started on with a tournament, for the most part he played by the rules, next to the Saiyan Saga one of the ones they actually gave support characters time to shine, etc. Still holding out hope that if they’re following a DBZ storyline it’ll go something like that.

[details=Spoiler]Goku had that virus (Ryu has the SnH), he’s supposed to die but Trunks helps to alter the timeline (Prophet). Dr. Gero with his experiments (F.A.N.G) wants things to go a certain way but ends up getting overruled by Android 17 and 18 he unleashes on the world (Necalli? Dolls? Azam?). Cell goes through a series of battles before he unleashes his true power (Bison? Necalli?). A true old-fashioned tournament is held (Karin’s) while Cell threatens to destroy the world (7 PSAs). Hercule thinks he’s all that but ends up just getting mauled (Birdie tries to attack Bison, hilarity ensues?). Final act a full-powered Gohan can take down Perfect Cell, gets cocky, almost fails, Goku helps him finish the job (Chun and/or Nash can stop Bison, don’t do it quickly enough, about to lose the struggle, Ryu helps them end Shadaloo).

Yeah? [/details]

The method of gradually self administrating non leathl amounts of poison to developed a immunity was derived from Mithridates VI. In real life this method isn’t effective against all types of poison

Necalli…

Spoiler

Is it just me or does his existence seem pretty close to being a straight-up rip-off of the Garuda? Y’know, the spirit monster that awakens to devour strong warriors and is especially drawn to consume the souls of those with SnH? Uhhh…

I said the same thing a while ago in the old thread that was deleted.

Alex is an enlisted soldier, or atleast that’s what I always thought. He has a very Rambo circa First Blood look and feel to him. He was probably trained in CMAP (Charlie’s Martial Arts Program) while in the military. He also mixes Tom’s wrestling with that. As for Tom, he never struck me as the military type. He’s a wrestling trainer who runs a gym, may or may not be ex-military.

The story probably will be Alex knowing Guile from his days in the service. They’ll tag along to investigate the plot, just like in the UDON comics.

Hmmm if that is the case. It would continue to diminish the chance of EX characters ever coming back. I approve.

The Fight Money.
