[details=Spoiler] Honestly, I donât really like her role in this game. Sheâs depicted as a flawless, perfect person (albeit her butler is FANG-levels of loyal, so descriptions are skewed) and implied in almost everyoneâs win quotes to be outstandingly powerful. She is starting to get VERY close to Mary Sue territory, imo. I hope she runs into Oro and he kicks (no hands needed) her boring ass back to the doujin she came from.
Like, seriously, does Karin have ANY real character flaws or issues? At least in A3, you could say she was a sore loser; in SFV, she never comes close to losing. Sheâs not really trying to protect or help anyone, just find stronger opponents and beat them to show how amazing she is. The only thing ever at stake is her massive ego, and apparently most of the cast canât even threaten that. The âmust beat stronger opponentsâ thing only works if you are seemingly toward the bottom of the ladder, like Sean, and have something to prove.
At this rate, the end of the cinematic story will be her dress changing colors and revealing sheâs actually Ingrid, or more correctly, bodied Ingrid 10-0 after defeating Gill and reviving Chun-Liâs father.[/details]
On Oro
Spoiler
This is REALLY interesting. I like how his dialogue with Dhalsim shows how different the two approach their status as masters of their style. Dhalsim wants to spread the teachings of Yoga to everyone and do the greatest good; Oro is concerned with personal perfection and feels training with weak students would only hinder him. This actually gives new meaning to his interest in Ryu in SF3, since he thinks Ryu is strong enough to train under him by then. In a sense, Oro actually is what Akuma views himself as and aspires to be: A fighter who has transcended legend and brought his style to its full potential, with power unfathomable to the average person.
Sounds like youâre just being nitpicky (for lack of a better word) to me. I donât see any problem that she has become powerful.
[details=Spoiler]Birdie isnât hard to beat, she stalemated Dhalsim, and the same can be assumed for her fight with Gief. We donât know the outcome of her fight with Sakura. It seems like youâre exaggerating just to complain. Not that I donât respect your opinion. But she isnât as all-powerful as youâre claiming. She is incredibly dedicated to her training Michu like Ryu so her improvement isnât really that jarring.
And yes, she would lose to Oro and thatâs what will happen if she runs into him. Heâs too strong :)[/details]
Did Dhalsimâs story imply he and Oro have a long standing friendship? Oro mentions how Sim hasnât changed, and that he should invite himself for curry next time they meet. Which sounds to me like they have had previous meetings before hand. This should be proof to show how mystic Dhalsim really is. To be able to draw a hermit Sennin out of hiding and have a long lasting friendship with him speaks for itself.
Iâm just waiting for that M. Night Shyamalan twist where we find out Karin is a part of the Illuminati. Super wealthy and influential family, an incredibly talented fighter, and sheâs blonde. The evidence is stacking up, woman!!!
the seven deadly sins greed, envy , lust, gluttony , wrath , sloth and pride are often consider character flaws. the prefect person to me is someone who could do no wrong someone who never sins or has bad thoughts. some one who is always right and some one who is like by everyone in their respective verse.
One thing Iâm finding interesting is it seems thereâs going to be some overall retcons, even more than the SF4 ones. It seems Chun, Charlie and Guile all knew each other much earlier than it was depicted in Alpha 3 for one. At first I thought they were going to retcon Birdie into always being hefty, but Ken says he remembers him around 2-300 lbs lighter, still keep thinking about the theory that him getting stuck in the psychodrive might have happened and screwed him up.
I donât know about friendship, but yes it certainly implied they had met before and are long-standing acquaintances. I though that was pretty cool. Also, I donât think it was Sim who drew him out of hiding, he seemed to already be out and about and sensed Simâs presence.
Man, the prologue got me REALLY interested in Nashâs storyline.
[details=Spoiler]I was already expecting Capcom to turn him into a complete jerk just to make him look âcoolâ, but they managed to change him and still keep the essence of the character.
well itâs good that Nash didnât become like Jason Todd from DC comics. from just playing Batman: Arkham Knight, I could tell that Jason Todd was a flat out horrible person. by the end of the game I wanted Batman to drop Jason Todd off a building. the best thing about that game was Mark Hamillâs excellent performance as the Joker.
Iâm just really confused as to why Bengus keeps drawing dark-skin characters with white skin.
Spoiler
Birdie, Sean, and even Balrog are all so light in his illustrations. Its so strange because heâs drawn these characters in the past and not had this issue. Now they just look off because of it.
[details=Spoiler]Well to me it seemed like they had tan lines so I think both were depicted both ways. Thereâs a pic he drew of Sean tanned as well.
Some guy posted everything online and after watching it allâŚ
I must say, I would really like Ken to get that hair down and tux outfit as an alt.
Also, a long time ago I posted about the DBZ correlation. I wanted a Cell Saga plotline, but at least Necalli does seem closer to Majin Buu. I mean, the prophet even looked like Skinny Buu. I hope in the eventual story mode we see Majin Necalli have some of those sick metamorphosis absorption powers. Before when Capcom alluded to him having a genius locked away beneath the exterior, that clearly was referring to the prophet. I wonder what struggles weâll see him go through internally. Iâm assuming that guy is going to cause Necalliâs plans to be foiled when he meets Sim and Ryu in India.
So F.A.N.G might still turn on Bison, but at least that stuff that had been leaked was all from the past. He seems pretty subservient though and it didnât appear like he was too tied to his clan.
And wtf did they do to my Ibukiâs voice?! She sounds like she got younger. Do not like. Making her VA Japanese when I get to play her.
Vega has so many interesting things going on. It really seems like heâs going to end up saving Cammy at some point, or at least turning on Shadaloo. He seems to be completely in his own world.[/details]
Personally, having seen everything in motion, I think the art is just fine. When you see them individually and have time to dissect them I can see the flaws, but as it was originally intended it doesnât look bad at all. At least to me.
The bear in Zangiefâs stage and in this art has a big scar on its left eye.
Kuma II (the bear) from Tekken doesnât have a scar and neither does his dad iirc.
Also, Iâm not familiar with all of Zangiefâs endings, but in Marvel super heroes vs SF, itâs shown Zangief has 2 bears in his family. This doesnât really mean itâs canon, but itâs still food for thought.
The bear might just be his sparring partner or pet.
[details=Spoiler]I havenât seen clear evidence that there is a #2 in Shadaloo, in fact Bisonâs speech to him when he got recruited would seem to imply the opposite. But he certainly sees himself that way.
Also, itâs possible to âbetrayâ Shadaloo without really going against Bison. FANGâs meddling with Balrog and Vega is one way that could happen. If his interference causes damage to their plans somehow, it could end up hurting the organization in the long run.[/details]
Re: DLC characters:
[details=Spoiler]Karin mentions sheâs holding a tournament in New York. Iâm going to assume this is where Alexâs storyline will begin. Although I wonder whether this is just âaâ tournament or âtheâ tournament.
Given that all the events shown in story mode are canon this time (whereas previously even rival battles were questionable) they did a reasonably good job setting up the character stories in a sane way so that characters enter and exit at the right times. All of the DLC characters are off the board at the start of the story and set to enter later, which explains why they havenât been fought yet.
(Alex in NY waiting for the tournament, Balrog busy setting up Edâs story and hiding his plans until then, Guile offscreen until Nash has made the rounds, Ibuki as shown in exposition, Juri observing Cammy, Urien so far unseen though - too early for higher members of Illuminati to show I imagine.)[/details]
Iâm not complaining about her actual fights in story mode. Around the end, she uses a technique that can âdisable an opponent from many kilometers awayâ, which sounds pretty damn powerful. I expect her to be cocky in her own winquotes, but having Rashid, Laura, Zangief, and Dhalsim talk about how strong and wise she is feels like overkill. Maybe I am exaggerating, but I donât want the first ârealâ Street Fighter story to elevate Karin to Bison/Akuma levels of power without any real conflict on Karinâs part.
