The IL FAQ/Information thread *Happ now is too grimey to even use Cherry switches*

You just buy the stick and if you want to wire it to an official Xbox 360 pcb then you must contact Toodles and buy one of his chips that lets you connect common ground sticks to non common ground pcbs.

If you want it to light up on press, http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=149015

If you want them to just light up, get a couple of leds and connect them to the 3.3v/5v line of your pcb or use an external power source (battery pack)

I have a p360 that i mainly use for marvel and sf it has adapters for the dc and the xbox. Im not a technical person so im not sure if i would know how to wire it and connect common ground sticks like you said. I really n:bgrin:eed another stick anyway for the 360 that i can break in before sf4 comes out. Im willing to pay i just ned to know who would make the best one for me. Im pretty new to ordering sticks thats why im asking you guys to point me in the right direction to the person who makes the best one.

you can buy a MAS for xbox 360 with a p360 joystick at www.arcadeshock.com

i just tested out my stick with the hard spring and i hate this thing.

lol i got so use to using the wii stick i know its not the real sawana but still.

hey i did kara shoryuken thou i could never do that on a pad.

You have to break in the hard spring.

i know from reading the previous post.

bump

Going from a japanese stick to a comp stick with a hard spring must be terrible.

It really depends on what Japanese stick you are playing, and how you hold it/do motions. I have no trouble switching from a Jap stick to a Happ Comp with a broken in hard spring. With a brand new, straight from the factor hard spring, I have problems as does everyone. The thing with American and Korean joysticks is that the softer springs (or rubber for K-sticks) are not all that great so you have to get the hard variety and break them in. For breaking in my hard spring, I simply played some Super Star Wars and abused the shit out of it. When I was finished, the stick felt much better. A Happ comp with a good actuator (recent batches of black actuators are not that bad but they need more lube than the white ones), no manufacturing flaws, and a broken-in hard spring is just as good as any Japanese stick for fighters. The great thing about Jap sticks is that you can just use them right out of the box without any breaking in period and they will great. I can’t really play on P360 as I have trouble finding db without the microswitches (Its not really reduced diagonal range as I can play on Happ Supers and Fantas easily). I fucking need microswitches in my joysticks.

Does anyone sell ball tops for HAPP comp sticks? Because I hold my bat stick like there should be a ball instead of a bat top.

http://www.tornadoterrys.com/surplus.htm

Thanks! I just hope the height will be shorter than the bat top, since I can’t readjust the shaft height. I guess I’ll just e-mail the guy.

@EvilSamurai

Maybe you want to add that Tornado Terry link into the main page and make a little thing about the Happ ball tops? I’ve seen people ask about it a good amount of times (not in this thread but in others).

If I use 18mm MDF for the top, what hole size should I use for the competition stick??

edit: I haven’t got a router, so it’s going to be bottom mounted, any help?

You don’t have to route for American parts. 18mm converts to about 0.71 inches and Competition joysticks are usually mounted in 3/4 inch wood (and can comfortably be mounted on wood as thin as 1/2 inch) so you should be fine. For the joystick hole, I would use whatever drill bit converts to about 1.25 inches which is the standard for joystick holes (1.125 inches is the standard for button holes).
