Itâs the opposite, actually. One of the conditions for Chrolloâs ability, âSkill Hunterâ, to be as potentially broken as it is that he literally canât kill that person after heâs stolen their power(s). Otherwise he just loses that power, defeating the whole point of stealing it in the first place. Itâs reason that he let the ambulance carrying Neon leave the area safely back during the end of the York Shin arc.
(Oh good. I was starting to get antsy given how many times I checked since last Thursday only to see it was still wasnât up. Thanks Reticently.)
Huh. So Skill Hunter broke one of its own rules and it seems fairly safe to say that all of the Phantom Troupe probably temporarily gave up their abilities to help Chrollo kill Hisoka. WellâŠfuck.
Also, I actually 'd at Hisokaâs line on page 3: âAnd youâve got it all worked out now, is that right? MmmâŠyou know what gets me off more than anything else in this world? Itâs the moment people like you whimper âHow can this beâŠâ as I gaze down upon themâŠright after I shatter their knees. â
Well ⊠they seem to be setting up a Hisoka win just from the way they are pacing the fight, imo. Chrollo has a lot more invidual power than this so Iâm a little weirded out he is using all these manipulator powers when generally he has always used conjurer and specialist abilities.
Iâd like to see him use that teleport ability he showed in Yorknew but that seems broken frankly. He was able to teleport 2 people other than himself at range to 2 locations in the same room. Teleport the guy so your standing behind his back then kill him. There are a million ways to use that ability to just âauto-winâ against a transmuter who relies on up close combat.
He still has the seals on his hands though so if hisoka gets too close he could get a limb blown off or killed.
Broken hand I donât think necessarily prevents it. If he has a broken forearm he wouldnât be able to angle his hand to put the palm where he wanted it, but some broken fingers wouldnât prevent him from using his palms.
This is turning out to be one of those fights Iâll need to reread in its entirety once all the chapters are out to fully appreciate the layers of strategy involved.
(I honestly canât decide who is coming off as more overpowered here despite both of them limiting themselves in the abilities theyâre using.)
Agreed. I forgot how complex Hunter x Hunter can get at times.
Still, thatâs part of what makes me like the series and unlike Ghost in the Shell, which I also like, pretty much none of the complexity is tied up in political or scientific jargon but mere tactics. Itâs nice to have a shonen(-esque) series where most characters have to actually think and canât just brute force shit 99% of the time as the path to victory.
Itâs often the case between two high level fighters whether in MMA or boxing or Muay Thai, that the match feels like a game of chess and you wonder how each participant will use his ability. Very much like this chapter. HxH is some next level shit.
Maybe yall arenât as slow as I am, but I had to reread that shit 2 or 3 times so I can follow the fight lol. Thatâs what I love about HxH though. The detailed breakdowns of the strategy involved in each fighterâs head is so enticing.
Basically when Chrollo was hiding in the crowd he switched abilities. He no longer has Sun & Moon equipped, but the symbols stay even if he reequips an ability into that slot.
He is using Black Voice and this âconvert handsâ ability to make a fake of himself. Unclear if Chrollo that got hit the first time was the fake or just the last time.
