Don’t think the calamities are bad things that happened so much as things with high potential to destroy civilization. Alluka would be terrible if he was just wandering around, Chimera ants are a huge fucking issue, and immortal zombie virus is never a joke.
The one I’m most curious about is what about that snake is so terrifying.
(Brion reminds me of something you would see in one of Junji Ito’s works. Actually, you could say that about all of the “calamities” shown at the end. I guess Togashi’s still on the Ito-inspired kick he was in when got introduced to Alluka.)
Yeah, “Calamity” just seems like more like it would be something that could potentially end the known-world if it got out, rather than being something necessarily contagious. After all, those Papuu things “just” seem like they’re an even more fucked up version of those hallucination-causing, cocooning butterflies from way back during the first Hunter Exam we saw.
I wouldn’t really be surprised if Brion was something along the lines of reusable laser or radioactive weapons that’s virtually indestructible and/or anti-Nen. Shrug.
That said, I really hope that this arc isn’t that full of code words given we already have “Risk”, “Hope”, “Pandora’s Box”, “Business”, “Calamity” and other things going even before the FUBAR translation Mangastream gave us.
Oh, right. I had completely forgotten about that since it’s been two fucking years.
And the zombie virus is scary, because it can’t ever go away, ever. Once you got it, your liable to make someone else suffer from it for the rest of eternity.
I hope this arc is about Gon at least. The thing I liked least about the chimera ant arc was it was very long, tons of development-- for characters that were introduced and died in that arc.
Instead of being story progression/development (the big event from it was the president dying-- nothing else really mattered, and the way he died wasn’t even that significant) it was character development of the king/komugi who are both gone and have 0 impact outside of that arc.
In terms of characters from the show Killua did more than Gon, since after the initial fight with a bunch of chimera chumps, Gon just got really angry and punched Pitou a few times with something he can’t ever do again. It wasn’t even a fight in the sense of experience because he was so much more powerful. Sure, Gon developed as a character-- but did it really require HALF THE FUCKING LENGTH OF THE SERIES for what it was?
I dunno. But it looks like it’ll be Beyond/Hunter Association this time.
It says the Weapon Brion is the protector of the mysterious ancient ruins, so I’m guessing that someone stole and brought back the ancient ruins from the dark continent which consequently meant the Weapon Brion followed that person back to retain ancient ruins by any means necessary. It probably caused so much destruction they gave the ruins back to the Weapon Brion just to get rid of it.
I wonder if Beyond’s Nen ability is stronger than his father’s.
Beyond is new king of Kakin country, and has initiated the forbidden trip to the dark world
V5 cant do shit, so suggest to allow Kakin in to make V6 but in fact its to control and monitor the country and use it as a test subject cuz its closest to the boarder of the dark world(?)
In term, V5 have the Hunter Assoc, capture Beyond and the hunter Assoc offer to go with Beyond as their “prisoner” to please the world and Kakin. Hunter Assoc will be the scapegoat if shit go south, but V5 will take all credit if they can bring back any “Dream” items
Ship is ready for voyage, and Ging joins Beyond’s group
Demands Parison to unleaseh5000 chimera for their game

To be honest, if these 5000 chimera arent at Royal Guard level it would be a cake walk for Ging, not really sure what enjoy he’ll have by doing this. Kite alone can more then the average chimera could handle. And I can assume Ging is at Royal Guard level.
It isn’t that the translations are different, its that they are BAD. HxH is by far the toughest thing in jump to translate, and the gibberish we get barely makes sense. Panda and stream are both terrible this time, so hopefully we get another text dump.
Beyond isn’t the king, he is just the leader of the outside expedition.
The 5k ants are a problem not because of their force as a fist but as their ability to get things done. Think of it more like a police force controlled by partison rather than a military-- they don’t need to be clumped up as a single unit.
Actually, upon further translation. Ging is pissed that it was Pariston that devised this plan of using the Hunter Assoc to get to the dark world. Ging tells Pariston to send in the Chimeras if he wants to play. The HA isnt his toy and warn him not to cause any more disturbance. Ging goes on to say that from this moment on he will be directly “playing” with Pariston, and wont stop until the latter admits defeat.
This makes more sense as stated before in the election, Pariston intent with the Chimera was to use them as a source of training new Hunters. It was never implied he could control them.
Last arc had no Gon, arc before that barely had any as well and was almost half the series. Another arc without Gon (since it looks like Killua is going to be handling other shit) isn’t what I’m looking forward to.
Yea, but I’m not disappointed. Gon got boring. When they had the hunter exams, Greed Island, and tower with Gon vs Hisoka, it was interesting to watch Gon progress.
Gon vs Pitou was boring, I found Gon vs Knuckle to be more interesting.
