Hey guys: How does the new anime compare to the old one? The old one is one of my favorite things to watch EVER, but if the new series is good Iāll check it out too.
new series doesnāt have as much gore (later parts of the old series were direct-to-video instead of aired on tv)
pacing is pretty good, and stays 1:1 with the manga just like the original. No point in rewatching from the beginning imo since its exactly the same stuff, but you can pick up where it left off in the original series and watch chimera ants and next arc.

Iām not sure why people on Arlong Park are commenting about the Chimera Ants coming from the āNew Worldā since thatās nowhere this latest, but I wouldnāt be surprised if thatās the case for the giant one that popped up. I also wouldnāt really be surprised if we learned a lot more about Killuaās family between the whole thing going on with Alluka, the fact that New World seems full of even more fucked-up magical beasts than the Old World and given that itās been hinted that Zenoās wife or at least Silvaās mother was a magical beast.

While I can see his wife trying to āhelpā on the romance front, thankfully thereās nothing to help unless Togashi has Killua come out and try to directly romance Gon at this point. I wouldnāt be surprised if she had some influence on what happened with Meryeum and Komugi in the Chimera Ant Arc though.

Its the only place that it makes sense for the original queen to have come from. It was way more deadly than anything else in the world, and look at how badly they managed to fuck things up. The ants didnāt āluckā into becoming super strong-- the queen just ate normal animals, then started eating humans and eating humans made them ridiculous.
(Like I said, Iām not ruling out the Queen came from there or that it doesnāt or wouldnāt make sense. Itās just that unlike the sentiment I got from Arlong Park before I read this chapter, it wasnāt confirmed in this chapter.)
The same goes for the Gas Beings being connected to Alluka & Nanika, though Iām not ruling that out either.
Besides, while it has been literally years since the start of the Chimera Ant Arc, at the start of it, didnāt the expository text at the very beginning say that Chimera Ants in and of themselves were existent in what weāre now calling the āOld Worldā? The only difference was the Chimera Queen that caused the incident was much bigger than other Chimera Ants, right? That is part of why I was under the impression that she was secretly a government bioweapon that went (extremely) awry until this āNew Worldās gonna rape youā stuff started to come up now.
