As much as I hate to say it, the conclusion of the Chimera arc was very disappointing and super anti-climatic.
Recall all the events leading up to the recent chapters, and how hype of a build-up it all had…I waited months in anticipation to see how Togashi’s genius will write himself out of this well developed plot knot, and then what? Radiation poisoning? It’s all ridden with deus ex machina after Togashi wrote the king to be too powerful.
The hunter exam arcs ended with a bang, the Ryodan arc concluded with an explosive ensemble, and after all the intensive events leading up to the end of the ant arc, I felt like the series blew a big premature load right before a proper crymax. I really expected better. I mean, in a story where netoro dies, something profound has to add up. Instead the ending was a celebration of gimmicky side characters instead of the core cast.
The follow up has been very weak so far, and I hope the next couple chapters can pick it up…but seriously. Damn.
So anyway, maybe we’ll see Leorio in the next few chapters or sometime next year.
That’s good news. Hopefully, we see a release date for volume 28 and 29.

Shit is finally over! And with art like that as a send off.
Honestly this last chapter was somewhat moving, although the multiple pages where nothing happened on panel gets me skeptical like a motherfucker. This arc was long and insane in parts but like physics all the stuff that went into it left the ending more or less a whimper.
Hope the next arc can redeem everything with a better ending… also it HAS to be much shorter.

For those that didn’t know the new anime will start from the very begging of the series. Main change is that Kaito won’t appear early in the show from what I’m reading.

But I like it, I guess, since some of these characters might have a bearing on something. It would be nice to see what Gon is up to, though.

Its nice to finally see Ging after how many chapters? Where the hell were these zodias when fighting the ants? I understand Ging goes MIA every two years but what about the rest?

Novu and morau were good choices for the ant mission since their abilities were good for reconnaissance and infiltration. Netero is also pretty fucking arrogant-- and don’t forget after a certain point, he realized that it was kind of a suicide mission.
So it isn’t just picking up where it left off but a complete restart/revamp?
That kind of sucks but I guess it will give them plenty of time to think of how to incorporate all the fucked up parts of the Chimera ant arc.
