This arc doesn’t have to end with them killing the ants. If the King changes his mind about the selection and just peaces out instead to live some other life, then the issue is resolved. Pufu is the only one really pushing for selection/conquest. Pitou and Yupi were just trying to protect the king and follow his orders.
Netero was friends with grampa, and just asked him to basically be a wheelman. They weren’t hired for the job, and if they were it was just for that bit.
I’m less irritated now with the King than I was before, since I thought of him as just a dumb super-powerful character that came in out of nowhere. But then the fight with Netero pointed out that it was a struggle between the strength of individuals with their own paths, and basically a civilization focused only on a single goal.
And to be honest, this wasn’t a good match-up for Netero. He couldn’t have taken Yupi, and probably wouldn’t have been able to take Pufu either.
^Not as far as him surviving no, but the King WAS dying from the blast, so that’s saying something, even though it got negated in literally the next chapter. -__-
But yeah other than Stabby’s point of the King possibly changing his mind and going off somewhere, I don’t see how this can resolve in anything other than a game over, with Gon’s possible kicking of the bucket too. Especially for a scrub(relative to the King) like Pitou. >.<
I’m honestly surprised neither Pufu or Lupi are aware that Pitou is dead, I would’ve thought Pufu would be maintaining constant contact with Pitou, even though he had already led Pitou to believe Komugi was captured.
But if nothing else, despite my distaste for what happened with Gon and his possible fate, just seeing Pufu shit himself on that last panel was worth the chapter not confirming what happened with Gon.(though the “Ah-Ha Pitou!” moment would’ve been prime time for One-Armed Gon wielding the right as a club vs King)
…And this is why super-speed will forever be one of the most dangerous abilities.
“Flash” indeed. If only DC was that efficient, heh…
And, yeah, not learning what happened to Gon just yet is totally made up for by Pufu’s “OH SHIT!” face (and, well, all the “OH SHIT!” faces in this chapter, including my own in reaction to it). Then again, I’m somewhat agreed with Stabby in that it’s kind of awesome that this could very well be the last arc of Hunter x Hunter given what happened with Yuyu Hakusho and Togashi being ballsy enough to not just go with “the good guys win” when all is said and done.
There is too much shit going on in this manga. It is going to give me an ulcer or something.
I wonder if this arc is going to come down to another game with the girl, and then the king loses and he is like “well, I guess I’m really not the best at everything” and then flies to the moon to hang out with ener.
You can’t call it trolling. He is idle rich, and does it because he loves doing manga. Unfortunately, he loves doing it all on his own so we have to wait. But then we get awesome shit like this.
strongest? really hard to drop a single name as strongest, ive fought a lot of strong players (in vanilla n super - ok maybe only a few in super but cant remember their names right now)
ive fought with a number of tokyo/kanagawa based top players and all of them’re pretty strong(also matchup dependant, e.g. master/grandmaster zangief/sagat players = hell), got some wins but mostly got raped.
I’m a bit disappointed with Hunter x Hunter going on hiatus again, but I guess it makes it easier to check on other good manga since the only other good one I’m reading right now is One Piece.
It makes sense that he’d get owned, though. If Pufu said he was only at 1/7th effective strength after he and Yupi used Full Restore on The King, then I would imagine that Yupi would be only at 1/7th strength at best, especially since he was stuck AND died in Chibi mode. Hell, this explains why the King is so damned strong now–well, stronger than he was before at least–and makes me even more surprised that Pufu even turn back to his normal size, especially since Palm also completely destroyed a small part of him.
Speaking of Palm, I have to wonder why she said what she said since she can’t hear audio through her ability and doubtless knows that King is still alive.
I guess we’ll have to wait for that cliff-hanger to be answered next year. :bluu:
