Well Azrael would say that his strongest match was against RF (at least I guess so), so I was curious about who the strongest player you faced was, and how you did. Like Mago, or Itabashi Zangief or Radiowave or whoever. Was just curious.
Wow Damned, thanks for clearing that up. I read it as “617” which I was confused about since it is such a random number. But even if Yupi gave away 6/7ths of himself too, then he should still have been at 100k units of power, or less that depending on how much he threw away while fighting Knuckle and Morau.
Good manga for you to pick up would be
Biscuit Hammer, which I think you’d really enjoy.
And Kekkaishi which has a different feel from most shonen series because it is done by a woman.
Future Diary is good, and about to come to an end.
And of course, Toriko, which I don’t even have to recommend because you are totally current after all those times I told you to read it.
But if you ignore most of those suggestions, then I’d honestly and earnestly push for you to read Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. Very, very, very good and seems like something you’d pick up. The voice of the mangaka is… soft? And he catches the feel of everyday life and the small stories it has, but keeps things interesting.
Also, Toriko.
You seem to have forgotten that I told you that I tried to read Toriko and I was just really NOT feeling it.
I don’t want to say it’s bad. It’s just that food is probably the least interesting subject ever to me. There are very few things that interest me less.
That and the dialogue was kind of weird.
I think I said that I’d give it another try, but there’s a bunch of other things that I want to get around to, so it probably won’t be any time soon.
Oh, it’s not like Yupi would have been defenseless, but none of the characters around now are exactly weaklings. I’m think that Wolfy is at least close to the level of lower Phantom Troupe members, which is pretty damned strong going by previously set standards. In addition to that, his Hatsu is pretty damn nasty and there’s the possibility that Yupi didn’t have most of his capabilities any more, especially if he died in that size when he previously the most fluid in shape of all the Royal Guard.
shrug
I’m sure Togashi will address it some time later when the hiatus ends.
I’ll keep these in mind. I’ll probably start on Kekkaishi because I had recently heard about it anyway with Adult Swim picking it up–I actually think that it starts airing this weekend.
Oh well. I’ll probably forget in a few months again, but I just want other people to love Toriko as much as I do.
But if you don’t like Biscuit, I will buy a hat and eat it.
I watched Kekkaishi originally, then immediately jumped to the manga when the anime was through. I think it is a good adapation, so you can either watch and then pick up, or you can read and then watch, or just read it and forget about the anime.
Back to HxH, the wolf should have been a division commander or so, and characters have been running trains through them since the arc started. Leol and that fucking cheetah were ok, but mostly because their attacks/strategies were strong.
And the non-battle members of the Ryodan aren’t that powerful. Ubo, Nobunaga, Phinks, Feitan, Kuroro, Hisoka would be the noteworthy fighters, but seeing the real top-tier characters, they aren’t that high. Netero could probably have wiped the entire crew out in an instant (for combat against humans, his ability is fucking insane), but Morau and hell, even Knuckle could keep up with the actual fighters.
Ain’t that a bitch, I actually started reading HxH because it came back out of hiatus, read a few chapters of the new stuff, was confused as fuck and then went back and read up to this point.
Damn waste all this good story potential has and is just sitting here.
Meanwhile, I can’t help but love how broken King is. Nigga is made of ‘win’ and at this point it almost seems like Togashi wants to either give the series to him or set up a spin off.
Lol. Trying to make books about broken people usually ends up being boring since no one can really threaten them.
The large part of the King’s interest is that he basically seems to an unbeatable villain who gets things done and without all that Aizen bullshit of “just as planned” while stalling (of his own accord) and not actually doing anything.
I took me a bit to remember that Leol was the Lion. Poor bastard.
Wolfy’s power is relatively strong too. Even if it’s not overpowering, it’s almost a guaranteed double-KO/kill if he doesn’t chicken out like he did against the octopus.
They’re still quite a bit stronger than normal Nen users being the point, though. Pakunoda wasn’t totally defenseless before she died, after all, though yeah she was not outright strong as most of the other members.
That’s part of the reason that I like Hunter x Hunter a lot, though: You don’t have to be outright stronger than someone to beat them like a lot of other shonen manga. The King is pretty much the only exception right now and I’m sure that he’ll beaten…somehow.
 @ off panel beat down.
Good list but you forgot Liar Game.
Read up until the end of the minority game and you should be hooked :bgrin:
Liar game is unreadable to me. It falls into that trap that most suspense things fall into-- if your plan is revealed first (either by narration or in character), you are going to lose. Not bad, but I couldn’t deal with having a plan revealed only to know that it was going to blow up and I was going to have to see the counter plan.
damn i was wondering who killed yupi, seems wolfy was stronger than expected.
and lol at netero killing all of the ryodan. he wouldnt even be strong enough to kill 2 top members, fei tang and phinx would merc him, same for kuroro and hisoka.
on other manga news, anybody seen the new veritas? shits getting real good, ganryong is gonna have a dope ass fight, he even solved a problem that he wasnt aware of, at least i think he didnt know. good shit.
boti english is out, but i cant find the raws anywhere anymore, damn man.

Gotta use IRC for raws. Most providers dropped off the net to keep the japs away.
http://www.rawdistro.net/packlist/
King and Nef couldn’t see the punches coming from the canon. Only reason they could deal with it was because they had retarded constitutions. Against a human? Please, GGs.
netero has NO defense against pain packer, so far NOBODY of the hxh crew has anything that could potentially defend against that attack. add the fact that the ryodan NEVER even been serious in a fight, they havent showed their REAL strength yet. only kuroro when fighting the zoldiacs, big dude when facing kurapica and hisoka to a degree but probably not all of it. a full powered phinx blow, fei tang sustaining enough damage to make the biggest pain packer yet, dont just write off people just cause netero did something impressive.
http://www.mangatoshokan.com/series/...f-the-Immortal are these the raws or the other link. i always had my lil bro dl shit mirc cause the shit was always too timeconsuming for me to do (for non irc’ers it can be pretty hard, with the channels and stations or whatever they where called).
and damn these niponese, fucking killing rawparadise. my only source for some dope ass mangas in high q. its back to the irc days.
This was like a punch in my heart. How far did you get? The first game isn’t like that at all really. Akiyamas plan is revealed pretty early on and with a bump or two works out perfectly. As the story progresses the games get harder and then endings aren’t all exactly what you’d expect. Another question, did you enjoy Death Note?
I made it to the quarantine game. I’m not saying it is bad, but it isn’t a series for me since I can’t maintain enthusiasm. They make up a brilliant plan, I roll my eyes because I know it’ll fail and they have to make a counter plan. I dropped Death Note for the same reason, and I dislike suspense movies, books, and everything else.
Which is funny, since as I’ve gotten older I’ve tended toward the more simplistic series of either punching and kicking (Toriko), or really unorthodox premises (Biscuit Hammer).
To each his own.
Back on topic, Netero vs Ryodan. Think we need to see more from Ryodan first. About one thing though Musolini said Netero has no defense against pain packer. Pain packer is turning all the damage he’s received into an attack correct? So pain packer is useless against someone like Netero. Netero only needs one shot.
I didn’t like Biscuit.
I’m not eating a hat for you.
XD asshole, I was waiting for a youtube vid
Biscuit and Toriko are pretty cool, so I trust Stabby’s recommendations.
Just catched up to everything since Greed Island. Gon fucking blew up. How long will we have to wait for a new chapter?
Lets say you were extremely rich, had two young kids, a beautiful wife who is independently wealthy, and were already established as one of the best mangaka of all time. How long would it take you to write the script, panel, draw, ink and do all the other stuff for 10+ chapters of this if you were under absolutely no pressure from anyone but a distant fanbase?
That is your answer.
