The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

It should have very similar components so yes.

For SE cases without the main PCB, is there anything to fill up the spot? I don’t want custom templates to get punctured just in case something happens.

360 SE Fightstick + Saturn dual mod

Before I forget, I’ve recently finished a project for a customer who wanted a Saturn mod to their 360 SE Fightstick.

Some quick pics:

For people with a Neo Empire account, I’ve done a write up here:

How do you unscrew the balltop from the SE stick? I’m planning on buying a red one to match my design, but I can’t get the stock balltop off for the life of me.

Open the bottom up and get a screw driver. You can unscrew the shaft from the balltop, then just spin the new one on and tighten from the shaft.

I finally got around to getting the right parts and my Sanwa stick wasn’t shipped with a mounting plate. I tried removing the MadCats one but the screws are completely stripped. Any suggestions that doesn’t require me ordering a new one? I might be able to get the screws off with pliers but where to find the right replacements screws?

Edit: Adding reference photo.

I usually hack and slash away at the main body (the black plastic part that holds the stick’s PCB switches) keeping the stock stick’s square gate in place with my Dremel tool w/high speed cutter attachment. This is mostly because I have no use for the stock stick other than the mounting plate, screws, and bolts; everything else can be disposed, except maybe for the stick shaft (though removing the C-clip proves to be another pain in the neck).

You really only need at least two of the stock screws and bolts to keep the stick together with the mounting plate.

Thank you for the advice. We managed to get the plate off and have two useable screws. Everything else is fine. Maybe I can get away with just the two to hold it in place.

So close. The plate will fit on the Sanwa stick fine but the old screws are now too small in circumference to screw into the plastic holes. They’ll just drop in. Anyone know what kind of flat head screws I can use? Sorry for the unintentional rhyming.

You’re missing your nuts. You can take the ones out of your stock madcatz body. Or replace with M3 nuts.

moved…

For those who’ve modded a SE stick, if I order this:

Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Joystick

From your playtime, would you say I should spring for this:

JLF-TE Harness for MadCatz FightSticks

I’m putting about 110 into an SE stick and parts (Unless Amazon drops the price of the TE Blazblue Stick Again) and I could easily add this to the bunch before I order from Lizard Lick Thursday.

So I figured this would be the best thread on it.

But how would I go on about making a TvC SE work on a PS3?

Can I just simply just put a PS360 or a Ctuthlu( I have a spare lying around)

Sorry to bump but any advice with this? I’m ordering all this tomorrow…

I’d suggest getting it. I remember when I first modded my SE with Sanwa JLF, the connector came out all the time. That would definitely help

You don’t necessarily need the JLF harness cable. If you use some hot glue on the stock harness (making sure you hold the harness in place while the glue cools and dries) you will have a good connection and it won’t randomly fall off.
I bought one cause I just had the money to dish out for it, it is not necessary though.

Ah, Thanks a bunch. Will definitely order it. There isn’t any soldering involved is there?

That’s another thing to think about, but I have no hot glue and don’t know anyone else with one either. So it’ll probably just be cheaper to order the part.

None whatsoever. If you are using the new harness cable, all you have to do is break the ziptie holding the cables. Then unplug the old harness from the pcb. Mind you that you will need a razorblade to scrape off the glue that madcatz uses to keep the end plugged into the harness on the PCB. Remove that gunk then plug in your new one (Both ends can only go on one way, so you can’t mess it up).
Also, don’t be too forceful pulling off the stock connector off the PCB. I felt like I was gonna rip off the harness on the PCB altogether.

Well I have the razorblade covered. And with all the money I’m putting into this, you bet your ass I’m going to be careful. Still holding out that amazon discounts the TE street fighter/blazblue sticks to 109 again. I can’t believe I let that slip. But with either option I’ll be happy. Thanks again

Okay, now I have my own questions to SE users. Particularly those who have modded the crap out of it (as I plan to with mine).
Q1.) What is the BEST way to cut art for the SE? Due to the lip in the SE’s metal panel, you can’t just sit it down and use it as a template to cut the art like a TE. Only way I can think of getting through this is by getting the artwork adhered to the metal panel first, then cutting. But that still seems odd to me.
Q2.) Has anyone tried using some kind of filler for the stupid small gap between the end of the Control Panel and the main body of the box? And if so, what did you use? Otherwise I’ll have to go with JB Weld or something of the sort.
Q3.) Anyone know of a really good spot to place a Chimp?
