The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

they aren’t needed so i would say no

Just a quick q and sorry if it was already answered but I just ordered a SE stick and wanted to order the sanwa parts as i keep hearing how it will eventually give out. However I think I remember reading that Lizardlick has back orders so I wanted to know how long do they usually take if you guys knew and if there were any alternative places you recommended…

etokki is where I got all my sanwa parts. My stuff got here within about a week & a half at the most. I’ll recommend that place.

Hey guys,

I plan to use my SE’s guts to put into one of Art’s future acrilic cases. My question is, what would I need to do to make the Start Select buttons 24mm buttons?

Sup good people…I just bought a JLW-UM8 Bat style stick and was wondering how to replace the JLF-TP-8YT-SK Ball Stick out of a SF4 MadCatz TE Stick. I tried searching for an adapter but haven’t really found anything that tells me what all accessories that I need to make that new stick compatible. Obviously the micro switches of the bat stick and the PCB from the ball stick are totally different components between the two sticks. I tried searching SRK Tech forums, thinking someone has already asked this same question but couldn’t find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

JLW-UM8 (here’s what I got)

My Post in Thread I will link.

How much did you do the search?
This was twenty-two days.
Laugh.

LOL, yeah man google was garbage and I guess i missed this somehow on my SRK search. Thank you…this was exactly what I was looking for. Good stuff! I knew it would be faster to ask someone and they would point me to the right direction. Thanks again man!

Hey guys, Ive got the old SE and it juussst started having some problems…the stick is being really weird, its not detecting the right input and the right up input. Any advice??

The Washer probably killed the Joystick PCB.

What would I do to fix that? Dont really understand how the washer could do that!

Because the Washer in Mad Catz SE Joystick is notorious for being loose.
And it scratches up the PCB.

Take off your Restrictor Gate.
Look at the Joystick PCB.
I’m sure it is scratched.

If you were on SRK in 2009 when Mad Catz first started selling their Arcade FightSticks, you would know about problem.
People popping up everywhere complaining.
Laugh.

Wait, but I actually modded my stick a while ago. I have all new sanwa buttons and a new sanwa stick.
This can happen anyway even though I modded it?

If so, that REALLY sucks.

You didn’t say that at first.
Well that changes things.

But some people; very little; have reported of even Sanwa JLF having Washer unseating.

I have a way for you to test if your Microswitches are bad, or the Mad Catz PCB going out.
But it would require for you to cut the Wire Harness and desolder the TP-MA.

Unless you still have your Mad Catz Joystick.
Pop that in and see if you still have problem with RIGHT and UP-RIGHT.

I JUST had this problem. What I did was disconnect the wire that plugs into the Joystick PCB and removed all that glue off of it completely and replugged it in and it worked great. I think it was more then unplugging and replugging it in that fixed it.

Unfortunantly, i dont still have my old madcatz stick. I threw it away when I moved.
I modded mine a bit different I belive. I cut the wires from the new stick, then electrical taped them to the other wires to the MadCatz stick. So cutting the wires would be weird and i dont really know how to solder/desolder

I unplugged and plugged in the stick, its already got all that glue stuff gone from it…and it still doesnt work.

Hey guys, just ordered sanwa parts to upgrade my SE. Is it necessary to tape or glue the wiring harness? I’ve heard that it comes loose after adding the new joystick.

That is why it cooler to use Wire Harness from Sanwa or Seimitsu.
The JST Housing was made to match with the JST Header on Sanwa and Seimitsu Joysticks.

The Mad Catz is not cool.
Does not match, is why loose becoming.

But a little tape should do the trick to keep it in place, no?

sorry if this has been answered here already but i was wondering if the Madcatz SE stick will fit Seimitsu Screw-ins without any modification to the case or the buttons

Yes.
