The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

Thanks to a weird bonus I got in a trade I have a ball from an old agetec stick. I was wondering (Since I won’t have money for parts to do an actual proper parts mod til September) if that ball would fit on top of the stick that came with my SE

Will fit.

hey. i got my SE about a week ago and it was working good until last night. the button for hk stopped working and i only noticed this morning after playing bison.

at first i thought it was broken, and was like oh okay, this guy (krazzie) says it was the PCB and i’m thinking, it can’t really be the button if it doesn’t work at all right?

i checked just a second ago, and it works partially, depending on how slow i press it, where i pressed it, etc etc.

so if it still works, and only work depending on how you press it, then the problem must be **“unresponsive buttons” **and it’s not the wire or pcb (still a newb when it comes to the parts and how they work but i am reading about them) that’s the problem right?

and the fix for that would be, new buttons right?

Wait, do the PS-14-K-N buttons work with the SE fightstick? I’m thinking I might get 6 clear and 2 solid blue. The FAQ just says PS-14-k, so I dunno if that means these or what.

Also if I just remove the old buttons and replace them with the clear ones will it be really ugly since (I guess) theres nothing between the clear buttons and the innards of the stick?

ED: Then again, judging from the post at the top of this page it might look best with blue bubbletop and 6 clear buttons and 2 blue seethrough buttons… gah this is some tough choices.

PS-14-KN will work. You just have file down the lug on the button closest to the mounting bracket.

I’m starting to regret my stick choice. I want a JFL, now. I THOUGHT that I wanted short throws, so I got an LS-40-01. I should have just gone with a JLF. Anyone have a spare JLF that they want to get rid of/trade for?

Really, no need to do any filing to Nut.
Just stick it under the Mounting Bracket, then screw on the Button.

So instead of putting in Button then screwing on Nut, do opposite.

Yup, completely forgot about that. I still haven’t ordered any buttons, so I was going on old info.

So recently I have been working to mod my Mad Catz SE SFIV Fight stick, I went to get my art printed and they told me that the Lami-Label was only for the employees and not for customers, although they told me that they can simply laminae a sticker (basically the same thing). When they did print out my art it looked like garbage, the colors were very dark and they quality was blotchy and washed out. Does any one know where a better place do get this printed and/or have any advice.

I had modded my SE stick with all sanwa parts but im starting to become unhappy with the JLF. was curious to as to which semsitu stick is standard in most fight sticks and if it fits into the SE.

Seimitsu LS-32-01.
Fits in Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick?.

looking at the LS 32 01 stick, http://lizardlick.com/images/for_sale/joysticks/ls_32_01_thumb.jpg , is there anything special i need to do in order to install it into my se? is it as easy as dropping in the JLF?

thank you. Switched the balls. I actually play better with the smaller one and realized that Blazblue counts the release as part of the move because the sticks movements are more clear now.

But I also realized how neutered down the fake JLF is now that I have actually looked at it. think I may invest in a real one soon, with a stiff spring so my releases go faster.

Nothing special.
Just pop it in.

Sanwa JLF with JLF-P-1 (Flat Mounting Plate) mounts to the top and bottom of Mounting Bracket.
Seimitsu LS-32-01 with SS Mounting Plate (stock S-shape) mounts to left and right of Mounting Bracket.

One small thing to do though.
That is the need to rotate PCB of LS-32-01 90.

When install, the connector for Wire Harness be facing right.
Well I guess that is the special thing.
Laugh.

Also, if you see that you only get one Direction (DOWN) working, then just flip the Wire Harness Plug when connecting.

Not like it’s anything new, but some of my friends that don’t live near me asked for a tutorial vid… so here it is.

Hey guys, I have a couple of quick questions I figured you all would be able to help me with:

I own a MadCatz SE so I bought a JLF from LL (JLF-TP-8YT-SK). I was confused upon seeing that it came with two dust covers. Someone in the LL thread mentioned that one goes under the top cover and one goes above. Is this true? Does it apply to the MadCatz SE? If that is indeed what the second one is for, how exactly does the application process go in terms of order?

Also, are the 4 screws that are used to attach the joystick to the plate in the SE a universal size/screw? Because when I was putting my JLF in I noticed that the 4 screws had little washers on them. Unfortunately, one of the washers was broke and I’m not sure of the effect this may have on my parts. So I was wondering if I can get replacement screws/parts from a general hardware store. Again, these are the 4 screws used to connect the JLF to the plate that is pre-installed in the SE. Would also be nice to have higher quality screws in order to avoid worrying about stripping the MadCatz screws.

Thanks!

should I glue the washer down on my JLF? I opened up my SE stock joystick and there was no scratching on the PCB…

Simple enough for me to answer:

Remove ball from JLF, along with second dustcover.
Place bottom dustcover on the stick assembly.
Insert stick into mounting position.
Screw.
Slide cover onto shaft.
Add ball.
Screw.

Resolution reached.

could someone answer my question above about the jlf washer… I dont want to mess it up, I just got it!

Good tutorial. Fake rep for you.

I don’t even understand.
Did you just buy the Sanwa JLF, or just buy Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick??

You talk about just getting “it” and opened to check out.
Makes me think you bought a new Mad Catz Street Figher IV Arcade FightStick?.
And that does not come with Sanwa JLF.

But you mention Sanwa JLF so I get confuse.

What the case is, with any Sanwa JLF, do not need to fix washer.
They were never broken to begin.

Stock Mad Catz Joystick on the other hand, should do fix.
Even if Mad Catz Street Figher IV Arcade FightStick? is the supposedly fix batch, should do fix in case.
Mad Catz quality of past still going on now.
