The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

lol. Thank you man. I thought he was fucking up when he cut the wires and then spliced them back together, and he even says you have to reverse the wires for it to work. I was thinking “Why don’t you just flip the connector? The holes aren’t going anywhere.”

Wow this is a really awesome guide, this just might be the answer im looking for in my first stick. Nice size, good quality, easy to change and wont cost me an arm and a leg. Thanks.

man I wish I would have read this thread before modifying my TE stick.

Nothing broke thankfully but I used an extreme amount of brute force to get the buttons in, I think I tapped into Satsui no hadou … lulz.

Either way, now I know to sand down those 4 tabs. I thought about it at one point but I figured they were there for a reason. The QD’s were a b-tch too, I ended up using pliers to pull them out (on the metal part, not the wire itself).

anyways, just thought I’d shared my experience for future googlers

Jesus Christ that has to be the one of the worst ways to fix a problem. “Doesn’t fit? HIT IT WITH A HAMMER.”

For claiming that he did research, a quick google search and read-through of this thread would have shown that he needed to just rotate his mounting plate and flip the joystick connector upside down.

That poor S plate is going to have structure problems now.

For you real efficient modders, modified SE sticks with sanwa parts and aesthetic mods(new art, paint) two sticks on ebay recently went for 200-300. So just mod your SE stick and sell it then buy urself a TE. Interesting tidbit. The aesthetic mods really looked nice, which is probably why the price was that high.

Speaking of “worst solutions”, your post has got to be the worst solution for the original poster at the top. You didn’t provide any help at all but simply bashed some poor shmuck!

Forum Rule #15 NO TROLLING!

Seriously man, don’t waste people’s time and Shoryuken.com’s bandwidth with this stuff…we don’t need it!

You’re supposed to be a “Premium Member”!!??!

Hey, poserdonut, I had turned mine upside down too and all but I had to solder the harness/wires that came with the Seimitsu stick 'cuz just like that guy said in the video, it wasn’t staying securely in place. It was loose on mine too.

Did you or anyone else had that problem? I just didn’t feel comfortable 'cuz I thought throughout time, it would just come out on its own and I would have to open it and plug it in again. I would think it’s a good idea if you know how to solder, to do it that way.

But I’m curious as maybe this isn’t the case for everyone.

Hmm, let’s dissect my post really quickly.

Notice the middle part, where I said:

Notice that I said the solution to the problem the previous poster was having!

And since you’re an April 2009 member, I’ll forgive you for missing the posts I made back in Feb in this thread.

Please stop wasting our time and bandwidth with your attempts to slander me. Thanks!

I realized you said that but it was already stated by another member. You basically repeated what already clear and slandered some other person and for what reason?

Tell us, then, what purpose did it serve for you make a negative comment first and state what’s already been said. If you never accept that it was unnecessary you’re just going to continue to do that to other members or newcomers who post here.

I apologize for my comment on “wasting our time…” and what not but it gets to me because I would like to see the SF community grow and if we’re quick to throw comments like that out there BEFORE we help, it could turn a lot of newcomers away.

TBH though, this should be put in the first post of this FAQ in the joystick removal section to cut down on the repeats of it.

might be a stupid question but i’m going to assume it doesn’t matter what order you put the quick disconnects on? just making sure i don’t think it matters.

Nope, doesn’t matter which order. Just make sure both are plugged in all the way and you should be fine.

wow i have been trying to take off the quick disconnects for like 30 minutes. i prob sound stupid but i don’t want to force too much power on it…I’m being careful not to pull from the wire and i have the plastic sleeves up. why won’t this one come off?!

Stick a small, flathead screwdriver between the QD metal part and the tabs on the back of the button. Gently twist the screwdriver counter clockwise and clockwise. It will push the QD’s off very easily.

Seriously…that had me laughing for quite awhile in class. :looney:

How was he trolling? He told him exactly how to make it fit. Reading your post was a waste of time. Give me my time back.

i tried this and that i just can’t seem to get one of these QD’s off. my nails are basically gone and i tried the screwdriver but it won’t even move one millimeter. and even the sanwa OBSF buttons, i had to actually shave some of it off to make it fit and click lol

I don’t understand what went wrong here? Could you take pics of the nuts or w/e?

TBH I just connected the stock connector and haven’t had any issues. It might be sitting loose but it hasn’t fallen of yet at least. Couldn’t you just use some tape to make it sit better instead of cutting and soldering.

nice man real nice… unfortunately for me … i bought the TE first… and now want the SE… so i went and bought an SE off ebay tonight… and since i already got the sanwa parts from the TE stick im simply gonna rip out the joystick and buttons from TE and put them into the SE.

Im kinda confused, you need to get these if your JLF did NOT come with a mounting plate?

Screw=m3 with .50 pitch @3mm-10mm
Nuts=m3 with .50 pitch

Heres a pic of my JLF, that big silver rectangle but is the mounting plate right?

I know what you thinking, I haven’t had my afternoon coffee yet lol

Also Ive read alot of decriptions of people saying the JLF is more “smooth and fluid” than the stock stick, well my JLF is very rigid and required more force to move it, where as with the stock SE you could flick the stick. Is that what you guys mean?
