The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

I just wanna give a big thanks to Sileighty and everyone else here. I had been eyeing this thread and watching videos for a while after not being able to find a TE stick. Got me an SE stick and then got bit by the JLF shortage at Lizard Lick and have just been playing the waiting game.

A few days ago I was referred to modchipman.com for parts. I got a stick and buttons real quick and threw them in as soon as they came to my doorstep today!

The difference between the Mad Catz parts and the “real” Sanwa parts is night and day. I’m so glad I did this. Thanks again!

Thanks for the response. The stick is working fine. I just didn’t know it I had done it the correct way. I never saw it mentioned that the connector is loose an doesn’t click the way the other one does. Someone else suggested that I put a bit of hot glue to keep the two in place.

Knowing me, I’ll eventually get the Sanwa harness and put it in.

Other than that, the stick rocks now! I am executing Psycho Crushers like no tomorrow. Still getting my butt kicked online, but that’s my fault not the sticks.

Thanks for this very useful info!

For the buttons, could I use the Seimitsu PS-14-KN buttons?

Do you have to hammer down the mounting plate of a LS-32-01 to fit it in the SE stick?

quick noob question my hk and bottom 4th button dont work i swapped em with the other stock buttons and they work for a while. Later on it doesnt work on those too i just swapped? either i need sanwa buttons or is the wiring fd up? (ps they work again if i unplug and replug the stick.)

Quick 8Y question: This Sanwa stick has no mounting plate with it according to the lizard lick Sanwa JLF faq. Could I use the stock SE mounting plate instead or will I have to order the mount separately?

And if I have this completely wrong, sorry in advance. I tried searching the thread but “8Y” is too short a search parameter for the thread.

I have the same problem with my TE stick. I don’t think it’s a quick disconnect problem but a problem with the PCB – other people have reported having this problem, calling technical support and having to send their sticks in to be fixed. Putting in new buttons probably won’t fix it.

Call madcatz technical support and see if they can do anything for you. Even though you’ve technically voided your warranty they might still help you.

My buddy had the same problem as malofilms, breaking stock parts. I’m wondering though: do Sanwa’s break that easily when the quick disconnects are hard to pull out? I’m asking because my parts came in, but my replacement art template isn’t done yet. I really want to mod it to full Sanwa, though not at the risk of breaking something when I pull it apart again for the art.

Bump to get my mounting plate question answered.

Drunken Monkey that question is sort of answered more than once in this thread. I know it’s a huge thread though.

The answer is, “Hammer down? What the heck are you talking about?” Come on now. No, rotate the mounting plate or the PCB, I forget.

I heard the stick won’t fit if you don’t hammer the mounting plate to be flat or close to it.

I have no clue what you’re talking about. I have no experience with the LS-32-01 so maybe it’s something only those people know about. Although, from a really ghetto search online (googled LS-32-01) Someone not on SRK blogged about modding their stick with all Seimitsu and all they had to do was like Bomberman said, rotate the PCB so the directions are all correct. No mounting plate mentioned, although rereading, they might have used the stock plate, which apparently can fit both a Sanwa JLF or Seimitsu LS.

Thanks after using a hori SE im going to try this out, are the pcbs the same as the TE?

So the story is i bought myself an SE madcatz fight stick since it would be my first stick i chose to get it and mod it if my buttons stuck or the joystick got stuck in a position. Turns out the joystick has failed completely and doesn’t work at all after a 5 hours session today and about a week of play previous. My question is can i still mod it and make it work or will it still not register because i don’t want to break the warranty on something that wont work anyways.

Though it is harder to replace than the buttons, replacing the stick will probably fix your problem.

There, that video was the one that showed me you had to hammer the mounting plate and solder the wires.

Looking into this myself - the LS-32-01 is the same stick as the LS-32 BUT the -01 has the five pin connection that you need. Because it has an s shaped mounting plate but the stock SE stick has a flat plate you have to hammer it down to flatten it. Would be much easier if the LS-32 (with flat mounting plate) came with the five pin connector.

The LS-40-01 has both so I wonder if you could use that?

Eeer, I have a LS-32-01 and I didn’t hammer anything. It mounted without problems, all you have to do is rotate the PCB.

After checking the video, he did it wrong.

Left is how he did it (wrong), right version is the way you should do it.

Also he tell you to cut the wires, I didn’t do this either. I just used the connector that was used for the stock stick but turned it up-side-down.
