The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

Why not just use my guide?

Installing an MC Cthulhu and Imp board in a 360 SE stick:

26 AWG wire will work, but 30 AWG would be easier to use.

I successfully modded my stick today (LS-32-01 + 6 Sanwa OSBF-30). Thanks Sileighty.

I’m planning to put Seimitsu buttons into an SE and was wondering if the Seimitsu PS-14-KN will fit?
It only says about PS-14-K in the first post

I’m talking about these buttons (I want to put artwork ā€˜into’ the buttons so I need the translucent ones right?)
Sorry I’m really new to sticks :shy:

Thanks to the guide I’ve modded my first ever SE fight stick. It was pretty easy. Only the first few disconnects felt really difficult but after wedging a flathead screwhead at the joint? and pulling they all removed with ease.

Only strange thing is putting the disconnects back on the new buttons. It seems to depress? the black bit on the back of the buttons. It pops inwards with pressure. Are my buttons sort of broken or is that normal?

It is possible to push the QD’s hard enough to where the bottom of the button (has sanwa imprinted) will push up into the casing. I just snap mine on and tighten a little bit with surgical pliers/hemostats. Haven’t had any dc yet and was able to remove them when I needed to…

well i got pretty UNLUCKING today by finding an SE stick in a Gamestop near my job today. Unfortunately after several hours of playing the stick started acting up. Typical madcatz quality assurance in action here folks. The XBox Button for some odd reasons does 2 actions instead of 1 (brings up the SF4 menu and the XBox menu at the same time) in addition the stick itself randomally registered ā€œUPā€ two or more times. Very fustrating. I probably have the SE version that has the washer problem.

I do know how the washer scratches up on the pcb causing irreversible damage. Is this pcb that everyone is talking about the main pcb or the pcb that is found on the stick itself. Will a JLF stick solve the washer problem? thx for any replies!

does it matter which wire goes where when u reconnect the new buttons kinda like positive and negative wires? just wanted to know if it matters

:u: Shouldn’t matter.

SSJ: You mean the pause menu? The guide button does that for most games so it pauses what you are doing so you can use the mini dash.

Pcb in the stick itself.

I just wanted to thank Sileighty for starting this thread, and everyone else that has contributed to it!

I received my parts today and putting them in was a breeze thanks to having read through these posts.

I liked the stock color scheme so I went with:
JLF-TP-8YT-SK [White Balltop]
GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate
OBSF-30 [White] x6
OBSF-30 [Dark Hai] x2

The only way you can tell it isn’t stock now is the black shaft color and the two dark hai buttons! At least the stick/button combo matches my TE now!

Dig this. Dunno if Lizard Lick ever restocked their buttons but if youre looking for Sanwa parts and must have em now, excellentcom.net has em. Their shipping is EXPENSIVE, but, they’ll get youre parts to you fast. I think they’re located in Hong Kong, and I live in New MExico, and had my sanwa buttons in two days.

There’s also some good sellers in the tech forum…I’ve done business with gamingnow.net 2x from there and had parts quick each time. Support the SRK scene!

yeah it doesn’t matter at all, since I didn’t take note of mine and just connected it back up :amazed:

yeah thats what i’m talking about… however its bringing up 2 things instead of just the mini dash… it constantly brings up the SF4 menu while bringing up the mini dash. I don’t know why it does that. The START button usually brings up only the in-game SF4 menu but the guide button does that and brings up the dashboard. Thx madcatz for this great quality product you made here!

I just swapped out the stick and buttons to all Sanwa, however, the stick does not respond at all to any commands. Oddly enough when replacing the old stick, I still get zero response. The buttons works fine. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

your 5pin connector could be loose, not from the stick, but from the circuit board its connected to?

Finally got my parts!

I don’t know if I installed my JLF incorrectly. The wiring harness did not click in. It doesn’t have a tab similar to the stock stick and easily slides out. Is it backwards? Anybody have this issue?

The buttons were simple to put in. They requiered a lot of muscle, but I was able to get them in. Taking off the quick disconnect was tough. Some of them didn’t want to come out easily. I ended up breaking two of the stock buttons.

My harness is currently being held together with tape. Everything works fine otherwise.

I have checked all of my connections, and they seem to all be intact. I figured since neither stick will work, it would have to be something on the board or the connector itself. I tried using the connector that came with the sanwa stick, but still nothing. Im pretty new to this, and with my luck its probably something stupid simple

lol. It’s supposed to do that. In many games, pressing the guide brings up whatever the game’s pause menu is (in this case, SF4’s pause menu) AND the minidash. Some games don’t do this at certain times and others not at all, usually during multiplayer or because the game just pauses automatically when you press the guide anyway without needing to bring up its own pause menu. If the guide button didn’t bring up the pause menu at the same time it brought up the minidash, you would get your ass kicked by whatever you’re fighting against in-game.

Example not to be a douche but to make sure you get what me and Sileighty said: Lemme check what friends are on while I’m playing arcade mode. guide button press pause menu opens to pause gameplay minidash opens Cool. Jake is on.

If it didn’t do this, Lemme check what friends are on while I’m playing arcade mode. guide button press No pause menu opens minidash opens Seth beats the shit out of you as your character stands there Cool. Jake is on. HEY WTF!?@??!! !%^$!!

I hate double posting, but my last one is too busy to reply. The JLF doesn’t have a tab. So you’re right. The JLF takes the harness in upside-down in regards to the stock stick. If you looked at how the stock stick takes the harness, it has the little groove/border things on the sides of it sticking up towards you looking down at the stick. The JLF takes the harness with the grooves facing down away from you. Otherwise, the only direction you get out of the JLF is like up or down or something. All you have to do is flip the harness so the grooves are facing down.

NOTE: I could be fucking up and I’m too lazy to open my SE, but just keep in mind the JLF takes the harness the reverse way the stock stick does. So just try flipping the harness upside down if it’s messing up. If that doesn’t work, you have something else to worry about.

Can you explain how to do this? The screws just fall in my JLF too. I don’t see any bolts or know how to take apart the stick.
