The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

For those of you who have the “JLF-TP-8YT” how does it compare to the SE stock stick? I heard the SE stick is already pretty good… is it much of an upgrade to get the JLF-TP-8YT??

OHHH OK, the joystick on my madcatz stops working… its late… i shut off the game and go to sleep. in the morning i hear a knock on the door, guess what! its my jlf i ordered i go and install it and what happens?

the stick still doesnt work !!

whats wrong here? the new obsf30 or whatever buttons work great but still no response from the stick what so ever.

can anyone please tell me what i do from here? easy fix? new pcb? sigh…

Did your ground wire get loose from ether points (next to your joystick and at the PCB)?

My buttons are sucking at Snapping in.

Red OBSF-30’s

The 4 little ledges they have around the button keep getting hung up. Any thing I can do?

Ether push harder or dremel the tiny “tabs” off.

grind the 4 little tabs down.

umm got a picture? im i dumb or blind? what do the grounds look like?

Pushed harder and it worked, thanks. Was afraid to put some elbow grease into them.

I got a LS-32. Do I have to take off the PCB and change the direction it is facing?

Yes.

cough Anyone who’s looking to get rid of their unused buttons/stick please give me a PM. cough

:coffee:

Hey I just modded my SE stick with 6 sanwa buttons, and the jlf joystick. Everything went smoothly until I plugged it into my ps3. This is when the stick was not responsive and the turbo light would flash on every time I hit a button.

Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions?

Just a quick question. On the SE fightstick, the start and select/back button wires seem to be connected to a 2-pin box-shaped connector. Does anyone know what these connectors are called, or how to safely remove the wires for them? I need other wires for my ps2/360 dual mod. Thanks!

SqueakyChu just cut them off. Then you can strip the rubber off the ends of the wires and solder them wherever you want.

Klunz it sounds like something is shorting out. Better check all your connections and try to find out what’s touching where it shouldn’t be.

Ok, I too am having a joystick problem.

All 8 of my OBSF-30’s work fine but my LS-32 isn’t registering up left or right, only down.

Shorting out? If so what would I look for?

BTW, the joystick is out of the case with the wire harness attached and only down registers as well as when I press downright it registers as up.

I put in the stock one and it ended up having everything register perfectly.

Is my LS-32 bad?

EDIT: Needed to turn my wiring harness upside down. The PCB on the LS-32 is upside down compared to the stock one so I had to flip it over.

I see. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that, since it would be easier for me to replace the wires without soldering, and I could preserve the stock wires just in case. Nonetheless, thanks for your advice.

Thnx for the help. I just just re-plugged everything and it worked

I was scared i wasted 100 bucks on a broken joystick lol

anyone have more insight on what could be wrong with mine? everything except the jlf works…

:wonder:

Had this problem yesterday. The reason the screws strip so easily is because the stock screws on the mounting plate are glued to the nuts on the joystick base.

If your lucky enough to get the stock stick off of the mounting plate. (I had to dremmel mine effectively ruining the base of the stock stick.)

Go to Ace hardware and look for countersunk 3mmx10mm screws with .5 thread. And nuts as well.

They cost about US $.14-.20 apiece. Home depot only goes as small as 4mm (and not countersunk). I ended up spending about $1.50.

When you get your JLF (w/o mounting plate) you have to remove the gate, remove the switches, and place the nuts into the base. Screw the mounting plate on and put back what you took off in reverse order.

This is addressed in another thread but it should be in this thread.

my backorder came nothing wrong with it screws are perfect im gettin my parts this week, i was wondering if theres a site that tells you how to disassemble and assemble japanese sanwa sticks(taking aparts) since its totally differ from american sticks
