The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

The biggest difference is the sensitivity of the two buttons; you can pretty much breathe on a Sanwa button and it’ll trigger. If you rest your fingers on the buttons when you’re playing, you’ll get more accidental presses with the Sanwas than with the Seimitsus. But even then, it’s a small difference in the grand scheme of things, and for all intents and purposes both buttons act the same way.

I modded mine with the seimitsu clear buttons and they are awesome. so much
better than the cheapies that came with the stick! Also people having doubts about screwing the one button closest to the stick, don’t worry you can do it without sanding anything down. just hold the screw in place it should fit nice and snug and just screw the button itself in from the top. took a couple of tries but it went through fine with no probs. Now getting it out might be tough but doable. :wgrin:

Hello !!

I don’t know if I’m in the right place for this question, but here we go.
Currently I’m looking to mod a little my lovely SE Stick !

I like the feeling of Sanwa, so no doubt about the button. But here is my surprise to see there is two version of the Sanwa Stick.

This one : JLF-TP-8YT-SK and this one : JLF-TP-8YT

I would like to know what is the difference between them. Thanks a lot !!

The only difference between those two is that the mounting plate is rotated by 90 degrees. The -8YT has the pins from the PCB under the plate, while the -SK has them sticking out. The -SK is a drop-in replacement for the SE stick.

Now time for my silly question to everyone. I’ve got a lead on an SE stick for $100 CAD (~$80 US). Is that a good deal, or am I getting ripped off. It’d be a second stick since I already have an HRAP

Yes. That’s about how much they’re worth.

If you dont get it I would love to find one as I am currently stickless, and am trying to wait to play SFIV till I get one, I want to try not to get used to the controller, although I am pretty good.

It’s probably been mentioned before but does anyone have a problem with the 5 pin connector fitting lose on the Sanwa JLF joystick?

It will sometimes comes off in the middle of a ranked match making me have to turn off the Xbox to open up the SE and adjust the 5pin again.

I’ve stuck some duct tape on the top and bottom but sometimes it shifts ever so slightly that it won’t recognize down. I was thinking of using some other type of adhesive to keep it together but at the same time being easy to take apart. Recommendations?

I thought they were the same thing and the -SK just comes with the black shaft cover.

Has anyone done a dual mod with write up on the SE?

didn’t I just answer this question in another thread?

Yeah that’s the same here ! So I have to get the -SK version or the -8YT? Or maybe it doesn’t matter ?

Nope it shouldnt matter. Just a preference if you want the little black shaft cover or not. They both drop in and are the same stick. You can even get the cover later and add it. JLF-CD is the shaft cover.

Yes. There’s a thread for it.

So like guys, I’m preparing my joystick for my SE that should be arriving sometime later in the week or early next week. Here’s the thing - I’m trying to use the mounting plate from my JLF-TP-8YT that I previously bought from Akihabarashop.jp (which is now in my Hori FS3), with the new JLF-TP-8T (didn’t come with a mounting plate) that I just purchased from in2amusements.com.au… But for some reason, the screws that were originally used to screw the mounting plate and the JLF-TP-8YT together, are like too small to fit into the screw holes of the JLF-TP-8T??? Isn’t that strange seeing as the JLF-TP-8YT and JLF-TP-8T are identically the same (only difference is that JLF-TP-8YT has the 5-pin connector is oriented to the left, rather than on the top, as the JLF-TP-8T is.)

EDIT: So i just looked at my JLF-TP-8YT closely in comparison to the JLF-TP-8T that I just got from in2amusements, and it seems as though the JLF-TP-8T does not have the “bolts” (don’t know what they’re called) in the holes that the screws are meant to go into? (they are just screwing into blank/empty holes. Is there any way for me to get the screws to hold in place in the JLF-TP-8T?

yeah you did lol. I thought I put it in both threads to get a faster response thank you. You did it different that toodles?

@ragendra: not exactly sure what I should be looking for there.

You wanted to have something to mount the plate. That something is called a bolt and a matching nut. The link I posted sells both in all sizes and shapes. Just pick the correct size of nut that would fit in those empty holes in the JLF 8Y and get some matching pitch and size bolts.

YEAH! I finally found a SE and it will be here in a few days, now I can finally order some parts. I had to vent somewhere…

I will post some pics when it arrives, as I am going to catalogue my mod experience.:wgrin:

Sweet, I’m actually really interested in your result once it’s done, because your art and decals were slick.
