The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

I actually tried that but I couldn’t get the flathead in there to pry it out. :frowning:

a big thanks to Veri7as and Sileighty for their help in this thread. I was able to mod my SE stick very easily this weekend and will post a pic soon. It really is quite straightforward to do. The only hard part was removing a few quick disconnects form the original buttons. I was scared i might break the wire but was giving them a good pul from the contact, but some were just jammed on so tight and had been pliered on top lol :S. Still one good bonus was i eventually had to snap one off to get the disconnect free. Being a mad catz part - that felt damn good believe me  New stick has Sanwa parts and now is playing great. Am very glad i opted to upgrade it :bgrin: got my parts from Akishop

First off, huge thanks to Sileighty (and everyone else dropping juicy pieces of good advice! - I wouldn’t have considered modding my crapped out SE sticks (both are pretty much dead now) if it wasn’t for this thread…(I’m hooooorrible at tech stuff).

I’ve been waiting weeeeks for my Sanwa parts to ship. I did my homework/research on upgrading with Sanwa parts. Unfortunately, it turns out there’s a worldwide shortage of Sanwa joysticks now. I was given the option of waiting another month, or having my order ship out with the Seimitsu joysticks (LS 32 01). I can’t wait anymore - (I’ve dropped over 2,000 BP’s in a week, playing with the SE stick that works best) so I’ve asked to just ship the Seimitsus.

I pretty much read through this entire thread & didn’t see a clear (at least to a tech challenged person) answer to this question (apologies if it’s been answered & I missed it…or I just completely misunderstood the obvious): is there any significant difference in installing the Seimitsu joystick vs. the Sanwa as outlined in the guide on the first page? Steps 8 & 9 still apply? Any rotations of the PCB or plates needed on the Seimitsu (I believe the mounting plate needs to be adjusted 90 degrees)?

I asked lizardlick and this was the reply: “Yes, the 32-01 works great in the SE, just make sure to flip the plug over when you plug it back in…”

I’m not quite sure what that means and I was hoping someone with Seimitsu experience could clarify (as well as confirm my other questions as well).

My continued thanks…

I just finished putting an LS-32-01 into my SE and it was incredibly easy, you’ll just have to unscrew the gate(s) and rotate the PCB/switches so that when you mount it the connector is facing to the side instead of up. It’s really easy.

Just curious how do you put the open the fight stick for the headset jack? ive seen pictures but looking through this thread is blah!!

You… undo the screws on the bottom of the case.

It’s not really a hard process.

Thanx! and thats for the ps3 one too?

To open it up? Yes.

Now, taking the headset port off isn’t easy, but it’s just screwed in and connected via a cable.

Just ordered my SE fightstick for PS3 and awaiting its arrival. Will soon order Sanwa/Seimitsu parts to mod it up!

Good Luck, where did you get parts from?

Haven’t ordered parts yet because no one is currently taking orders atm but soon as aki`shop reopens, I’m gonna order my parts from them.

Hmm I tried searching the thread, but was unable to find anything related to the issue I’m having with my modded SE.

I modded my SE with Sanwa parts, and for a few days everything was great. However, recently 2 of the buttons I put in sometimes stop working while I’m playing (Both trigger buttons), which is a problem when playing online. The buttons begin to work again when I remove the stick from the 360 and plug it back in, but again after a period of time the issue happens again. I looked at the QDs for both buttons, reinstalling them again, but that did not solve the issue.

Is there something else that I could have done wrong that I’m missing or could my PCB possibly be broken?

If this question has been answered in this thread I apologize ahead of time.

Sounds like a PCB issue to me… :frowning:

Oh noes…

Well if this does worsen and considering I have no warrenty, can I still send it to Mad Catz and just pay to fix the PCB or would I need to get my own PCB? I really hope it’s not the latter because I have no skill at all with soldering

:u: You probably could send it back…not sure how much they would charge you for that though. Just read up on soldering, it’s easier than you think.

I don’t doubt that it is, but considering I don’t have the steadiest of hands, it mostlikely would not end well.

Dang, was really hoping it wasn’t a PCB issue, next thing I know the case falls apart -.-

:u: I don’t have steady hands either, but you should be ok! Only way to know for sure is to try.

My up input went out a few days ago on my SE stick, the characters just go from side to side…this is just from one month of playing with it.

Gonna order a sanwa joystick, balltop and 8 way gate ASAP…

Anyone have any tips to remove a a joystick from a stuck mounting plate? I can’t remove the joystick from the mounting plate since there is some serious glue holding the screws down.
