:u: Yes, all JLF’s come with square gates.
Holy crap dude. That glue is strong, but not THAT strong. Use a thin flathead screwdriver and try slicing it where the two connectors meet. The goal is not to cut the glue, but to have the glue should warp a bit then you can just pull it right off in 1 piece with your fingers. If that doesn’t work just rock it from side to side until the glue warps and tear it off.
i carefully gave the glue a little heat so i had something to work with.
5 pin connector
Hey guys, I changed up all my parts and put in new sanwa parts. Everything works just fine except the left direction. I read about another poster and how he cleaned out the glue from one of the holes and it worked. But in my case, i can’t see any glue and i’ve dug my screwdriver into each hole multiple times to make sure nothing is clogging it. But still have this issue.
Can you get a “replacement” connector from Newegg or somewhere else?
You’ll have to get a wiring harness from one of the arcade suppliers when their sites catch back up.
Does the Madkatz stick still work on left? It might be a dead switch (easier fix)
Can you dual mod your ps3 SE stick to ps3 and xbox360? i heard its easier to dual mod your 360 then your ps3 one.
You can, but (apparently) it takes forever, because you don’t get to use the Cthulu board.
Piece of cake on the 360 one, because of how small the base PCB is… and the fact that the Cthulu is just as small = win. I know it’s possible to do a 360 stick, but I’m not seeing how you have the room.
No, I’ve tried connecting the mad catz stick back up and the same thing happens, so i’m pretty sure it’s not the switch or pcb. Gotta be that 5 pin connector. My JLF came with an extra connector, but i don’t want to solder it onto the board. Thought it be easier if i can just find a replacement cable with 2 connecting heads.
Ok, so, I’ve been searching Tech Talk for a half hour (about 3 searches with the stupid timer between them) and I just need to know: will a Seimitsu LS-40-01 fit in the case? Based on the first post in this thread, it’s not LISTED as an option for a replacement, but looking at slagcoin (thanks, other threads!), it’s got a very, very small dimension difference from an LS-32.
So, this is the stick I want to go with, due to the fact that it has a small engage distance and a shorter shaft than the JLF.
Any answers?
Lol this is depressing no one is buying my ps3 sticks so i dicided to keep them and now I can’t mod it for xbox360 =( ouch… i hope they find a way one day…
Unless im assuming the last way of doing it is to just cut the whole board out and start from scratch is that possible?
The shorter shaft might bite you in the ass, I had to install an LS-32-01 today and it barely fit, and still looked kind of low.
If you really want the LS-40, let us know by trying it. For science.
You might have to find a way to mount it, be creative!
But I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
You could do that, by getting a hacked 360 pad and a cthulu, but that still is a lot of work, and some cash. Depending on how much you value your time at, it’d probably be better to buy a 360 SE. you could pick up a Cthulu and fleabay your PS3 SE and probably take less time and make a profit.
I did, cost me10 bucks for the PCB http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=802511 and some random dollars for resistors and diodes. Course there was the money for soldering supplies and wire but that’ll apply to multiple projects.
Well, the LS-40 is a little bit taller than the LS-32, so I think the outside should be fine, plus short sticks wouldn’t bother me too much. Size isn’t everything, girlfriend!
Yeah, I was thinking of using the stock mounting plate and wiring harness, but that’s the thing: I’m not too sure if the holes will line up on the mounting plate and whether or not the absolute bottom of the stick will have enough clearance to move without scratching the metal of either the baseplate or the stick shaft.
I NEED MEASUREMENTS. One of these threads here had a link to a picture that had a blue background and had measurements to compare sticks. I don’t know if that had the measurements from balltop to bottom of the assembly.
Someone might beat me to it since I’ll be waiting for a couple of months more before I get started on anything.
NO DO IT NOW, FOR SCIENCE.
Slagcoin.com is your best bet for measurements, I think they have them on every thing. Not sure if the holes will line up, if not get a LS32 mounting plate or something.
Based on eyeballing alone, the LS-40-01 SHOULD fit in height-wise. Ball might ride low, but it should at least fit in the case.
The holes are the iffy part. Like, I have my SE open here and it looks like it has a cross-shaped mounting plate that can accept a mount either vertically or horizontally, but I need to know how far the LS-40’s holes are spaced so I can figure this out. And because it’s welded on there, there’s no way for me to say, “Yeah, this doesn’t matter. I can just take it out and put the Seimitsu one in there.”
I mean, get the mounting plate (on the actual stick) from Seimetsu and just swap them. Just an idea, though.
That’s a pretty good idea. I was thinking about attaching the stick directly to the case like the stock stick. I thought that was the way they were just done.
When I get my allowance (I’m married. Married men have an allowance), I think I’ll get started on this. SHould be fun to say the least.
Great mod, Ragnarok. I know cutting plastic can be a pain!
