The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

Can anyone tell me if a JLW-UM-8 or JLW-TM-8 will work with the fightstick?

Cheers

Ok, thanks anyway. I doesn’t have to be those specific model, I just want with a transparent button, not to attach any art beneath or anything… it just looks a bit more flashy. =)

mod

Obligatory open case

Obligatory stick in front of monitor in training mode

only took half hour

Sanwa buttons - OBSF-30

Stick - JLF-TP-8T

Will have better pictures (but I don?t think anybody cares)

Thanks to Sileighty and **people **who have posted in this thread making the information always readily available. (you just have to read)

I see this as a gateway to more crazy mods and eventfully building your own.:encore:

*After installing the sanwa parts it was like night and day the madcatzs parts where okay actually though.

hey guys real noob question, does it matter about the connectors on the buttons?
im about to pull them out and take of the face plate for a graphical mod, just want to make sure i dont or do have to mark them and put them back in the same place?

thanks!

From the previous page:

thank you, i gave up searching on page 17 lol…

I just wanted to say that thanks to the helpful info & links from these forums I was finally able to mod my 2 SE Fightsticks today. The parts I used were JLF-TP-8YT Joysticks & OBSF-30 Snap In Buttons bought here in the UK from Gremlin Solutions. Attached is a photo of my handywork. I’ve never modded a stick before but this was very simple infact the only downside is Ive now got a sore thumb & forefinger from pulling out the quick connects & snaping the buttons into place & I lost a couple of hours which could of been spent playing SF IV but all in all I highly recommend everyone do this mod as modded SE’s are the business!

Sampdoriano I love the 1-player/2-player color scheme! You should switch out the art some day too.

Thanks Bomberman, I would like to do something with regards to the art but I think I might need some help (not sure exactly how you go about getting the artwork printed onto glossy/sticky paper & properly cut etc) so it might have to wait for now.

Feel as though this is a stupid problem, but for some reason I’m having a hrd time twisting off the ball top. I’ve been putting alot of force into it, and it’s still not budging.

Is this normal?

just wondering what you guys were saying about the washer in the jlf will you need to super glue it down to prevent the pcb gettin scratch or can you play as is without no worries?
ATM waiting on sf se stick AMAZON FTL and my parts are coming soon…

I used a really big, heavy flat tip screwdriver and held the bottom end of the joystick still while I twisted the balltop with the other hand. came right off.

long time lurker. i appreciate the wealth of information i’ve gained from this thread. went with ordering from lizardlick. sanwa parts here i come. flicks to follow soon. thanks everyone.

Didnt think this was thread worthy but id figure this would be a good spot :stuck_out_tongue:

Im currently modding my fightstick with sanwa parts, and after putting together my sanwa stick i noticed this piece was out…So i wondering where this piece goes?
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/namikun/IMG_0580.jpg
at first i thought it was the piece uncer the small clip, but still kinda confused…I noticed that my stick also is really loose, so any help would be greatly appreciated

Ok. If you have the shaft out of the stick completely, this is how it should go.

  1. Insert shaft in to stick
  2. That piece you have left over goes on the shaft first (from bottom). It holds the upper part of the spring in place.
  3. Spring
  4. Actuator
  5. C Clip

alright i think i have an extra piece but heres a pic of my order thus far

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/namikun/IMG_0582.jpg

so it looks kinda like this but i dont think this is right

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/namikun/IMG_0584.jpg

thx for the help btw

  1. take the shaft and put the white piece with the flat side up first.
  2. enter the shaft through the jlf assembly.
  3. take the smaller black piece and insert it through the shaft while the shaft is in the assembly flat side first.
  4. insert the spring so it fits over the thin part of the black piece.
  5. take the actuator and fit it over the spring with the cup side first.
  6. insert the e-clip to the shaft and you should be done.

Yay i got it thanks for the help, it was kinda confusing cause the White piece goes on the outside part of the stick rather than placed from the inside of the stick…but yeh i got it…

I have one seimitsu snap in there cause my other sanwa button broke…Kinda had to shove it in there but it seems to work :stuck_out_tongue: now…the only problem i have now is that my guide button goes out sometimes…has anyone able to fix it? cause it seems like the guide button is soldered straight to hte pcb, so would i need to solder a wire between to the two?

I was wondering if I would be able to use the Sanwa JLW-UM-8 Bat Handle Joystick on the SE Stick instead of buying the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Ball Handle Joystick, Sanwa LB-30-N Joystick Bat Top, and Sanwa Joystick Adapter?
