The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

does anyone know details about the screws in the mounting plate? i had to drill mine out and i need new screws. markman said that they are 4mm screws but doesnt know the height, if anyone knows let me know. i need to get new screws!

How many of ya have replaced the LED? I neglected to look into that when I had my stick torn apart… was it easy to get at and replace? What kind of LED did you go with?

im having difficulty taking the sleeves off the wires for the buttons and pulling the connectors off.

Is there an easy way to take the plastic sleeve off the wires?

And what about disconnecting the buttons? The quick connects seem really tight and im worry that i’ll break them… =|

Why are you taking the plastic sleeves off? At most, you should slide them up a bit from the quick connect, but that’s just to make it easier to get to the quick connect itself.

If you are worried about separating the wire from the connect, use pliers and pull from the quick connect’s stem.

Just modded mine, my fingers are in pain, but with sanwa obsf-30 and a JLF. My SE feels WAY better than my TE. It could be because I played the shit out of my TE for the past few weeks so the new parts feel fresher, but either way I’m current loving the modded SE more than the TE

Quick question: i just got my sanwa stick from lizardlick and when i went to switch around the pcb i noticed that the washer was doing the same thing that the old stick was doing…it was moving all around when i rotated the stick.

should i glue the washer down before i install it, because i fear that it’ll do the same thing the madcatz stick was doing, or will it be ok?

I was thinking that would happen on the JLF too after I saw a picture a stick completely disassembled. It has a washer inside of it too. And now you’ve just confirmed my assumption. Anyone have info about this? I would also like to know.

Thats what i meant, i was having a very hard time sliding the plastic up, i ended up just pulling them out without moving the plastic.

I busted one of my madcats buttons when using the pliers to take the quick connect off. It was stuck on that hard, that the microswitch broke in half before the dame thing came off…

Luckily, It was only the crappy madcatz button…

Both of my sticks are modded with OBSF30s and JLFs now and the only hard part was getting the quick connects off of the old buttons.

The difference is night and day. I’m so glad to have those crappy madcatz parts gone for good. I wont ever buy another madcatz product again. It just feels 1000% better. Sanwa = Epic.

did any of u completely remove the art/sticker. im thinking about peeling mine off, since i don’t like how it kinda sticks to ur skin.

I did yesterday, and it looks alright. If the metal had a nicer / more consistent finish, I’d just rep the plain metal. Probably going to go back to a lamilabel though.

Any ideas on how to paint the body of the SE?

Would I have to sand it first? I assume prime then paint black, the color I want. Would a gloss work or would matte be better? Krylon spray paint good to use?

Thanks!

putting screwins were pretty easy in the se, getting them out may be a bitch though.

I removed the stock art before replacing it with my own, you can see what the bare metal looks like in my art replacement guide here:

that stick is sexyness, good work

When I first got my JLF the washer didn’t seem to wobble too much so I left it as is. After a few more times taking it apart I began getting nervous about it though and just super glued it down like the stock stick. This might have contributed to more stiffness, but it is hard to tell since I’ve been trying to gain more stiffness with springs while this was going on.

I’ve only ever heard of people using a Vinyl coating spray. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/vinyl.html

Just finished my mod…

here’s a video i put together…hope it helps some of you…

thanks for the pics.

very nice and helpful!

how did you remove the stripped screws (drill)?

Hey! I’m not sure this has been answered but the thread is getting really long, and my time… not enough. Anyway I can’t see the Seimitsu PS-14-GN-CP, white, for example, as a compatible button on the first page. Won’t these fit at all? Or do I have to be prepared for some kind of modification?

Answer very much appreciated!

Im not entirely sure but I think those are screw-in ones and I dont think those work, but like I say Im not too sure.

EDIT: Sorry scratch that, screw-in ones do work, though Im not sure if those exact ones will.
