So does sanwa not make black buttons? I don’t like these black and grey ones. Would there be a notable difference if I used 2 types of buttons? I’m wanting my buttons to alternate between orange and black. Maybe I could paint the sanwa buttons?
Well i changed my all red joystick.

My Advise to you guys is to get the Screw-in buttoms except for the one near the mounting plate. They are so much easier to replace or mod and they dont stress the buttom tabs like the snap-ins.
Here is what can potentially happen when you chane them around. see the plastic getting white or about to break.
They are coming out soon.
If you do have the screw in buttons, take a dremel to the corner of the stick mount and grind it back slightly. This’ll make installation much easier.
I see that, but just in case I already ordered snap ins, wouldn’t it not matter since I’m gonna just snap em in and then leave them in there until one breaks?
That really depends on you. Who knows? One day you may get a mad craving to try Happ or Seimistsu buttons or something instead.
lol. Maybe. I don’t think Happ parts fit in the SE. I was thinking about Seimitsu, but decided to go with Sanwa since a lot of people prefer that one. If I don’t like them, I can always get the Seimitsu ones. And even then, I would just take out the snap-ins and never put them in again because I didn’t like them.
If i can refind myself the PS3 Fightstick Im gonna wanna mod it to avoid anything breakage with the default parts. But I wanna know all the pieces Im getting are really needed or correct.
Joystick
Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable
BAT
Sanwa LB-30-N Joystick Bat Top
Restrictor Plate
Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate
PushButtons
Sanwa OBSF-30 Pushbutton
**
Plugs**
Yenox Hole Plug
I believe that is all that I need, but wanna make sure that Im not gonna be forgetting anything and need to make a seperate order later on. As well as ordering it all and finding out something isnt needed or a better one is out.
I also heard there were some buttons that had pictures displayed inside of them, but didnt see them on lizardlick or ebay.
Let’s all read the first post before asking the same questions over and over, like what sticks and buttons to buy, okay?
But Sniper33, to answer your question about the buttons with art inside of them, those are clear/skeleton Seimitsu buttons (which are available from Lizardlick) that have art placed inside them by the end user.
Here are some pics of my stick mod. (The MadCatz SFIV CE stick has got to be the easiest modable stick out there.)
Parts:
Sanwa OBSF-30 x8 - Green
Seimitsu LS-32
Custom Wiring Harness

Close up of custom wiring harness. It was made by desoldering the connector on the factory joystick PCB. The Seimitsu mounting plate had to be cut a tiny bit in the top right corner to allow it to fit flush.

Parts:
Sanwa OBSF-30 x8 - Red
JLF-TP-8Y
JLF-P1

The screws on the factory joystick mounting plate would not come off so I used spare a JLF-P1 mounting plate I had laying around. I placed a dab of hot glue on the connector to keep it from accidentally slipping off.

Finished pic of my 2 PS3 SFIV CE sticks. The other sticks are my modded Hori PS2 Tekken 5 and Xbox360 DoA Sticks.
I guess I’m gonna need to order a mounting plate since the one on the Mad Catz SE has stripped screws now. I don’t have anything with me that can get them out either.
nEED TO KNOW CAN i USE A CIRCULE GATE
I think you’ll mess up the switches with a circular gate.
What do you mean
Nevermind, I don’t know what I’m talking about. I don’t really mod sticks but I’ve had sticks with circular gates that have had the switches go out over time for some reason.
the ones that modded theirs, how do you like the performance and how does it compare to say the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 ones?
Well the stick i mentioned wasn’t listed, but on lizard it says it will work. I was more concerned as to if I would need anything else to go with the joystick. And going by the numbers I wasnt sure if the BAT would fit on that specific stick.
Had no idea thats what a skeleton button was, for some reason I was thinking a button with a skull on the inside of it…which I guess could be done if you wanted. I went to lizard to see about those but they had different ones.
*Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbutton
Seimitsu has discontinued their coveted “skeleton” pushbuttons, and replaced them with these… Threaded translucent pushbuttons with a vertical microswitch. 30mm in diameter, with .110" lugs and clear nuts (the buttons in the pictures are sitting on them!).*
so im guessing the other ones are done with then.
i was just wondering now, when i get the se stck and pl ay around with it and something messes up on it like things sticking or not registering what cant be done? would it be just fine if i swapped to the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable and work like new, or would the mess up not be changed by a different stick (like if something was wrong with the boards).
How am I going to fix this!? Truth be told, I was a little drunk (still am) and I dropped my stick right on the head. well, it broke the shitty solder job that was holding the stick to the panel. Can I just re-solder this back on?

if not, anybody want to buy a stick?!
Looks like you’ve busted the top panel good and proper. Maybe you could replace it? There are instructions in the custom-art topic for removing it from the case. Then it seems like you could just use the busted panel as a template on top of similar material to cut it to size, then drill some holes for the screws. buttons and stick.
