The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

The square gate is pissing me off, thanks for the awesome tutorial. Just bought part off lizardlick

Has anyone tried putting Seimistu PS-14-Pā€™s on. Would I need to do anything or would they just pop in? I havenā€™t modded a stick before so Iā€™m curious.

Also, does the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT require any alterations before going in or is it just the LS-32-01 that does?

Yesterday I did the QytcbzZmXaI]JLF Ultimate Mod on my to stiffen it up a bit, increase the switch sensitivity and reduce the throw.

I actually got some Cherry microswitches but couldnā€™t think of a clean way of soldering them to the PCB since the ends are horizontal instead of vertical; I went with the ā€œUltimate Modā€ as a plan B. Just clicking around with the Cherryā€™s you can really feel how much sexier they are, so that set the bar pretty high for the ultimate mod, but I feel it is a worthwhile mod. It isnā€™t quite as responsive as Cherryā€™s but it is about a full 1/3 more responsive than stock JLF switches.

Taking the time to delicately wrap the actuator with the electric tape was maddening at times, but also very worth while for what I was going for. I couldnā€™t get used to the Sanwa style throw. It felt like my motion was too exaggerated to change directional focus; such as moving through a special to pull back and block or dash cancel.

I didnā€™t have the LS-33 springs suggested, but I did have an LS-32 spring so I popped that in there. I actually found that to be almost too stiff, but Iā€™ll see if I just need to get used to it after playing with the stock SE and JLF sticks for a week now. Iā€™ve got LS-33 and LS-55 springs on the way, so I can really dial in on my own comfort level.

I highly recommend the whole Ultimate mod to anyone who has made it this far into this thread and wants to really customize their stick to their own liking.

Looks good with Cthulhu, any idea how it would work with a padhack (specifically this pad: http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram4.jpg )? Would I just wire all the signal connectors to the buttons then wire ground to a ground somewhere on the stick? What about the directional buttons? And I still would need to connect the 3.3v point on the PS1 PCB to a voltage point on the SE PCB right?

Sorry if some of these questions seem redundant, I just donā€™t want to ruin the stickā€™s PCB by doing thisā€¦

To European stick owners/modders: What does Gremlinsolutions charge for Seimutsu PS-15 buttons? Iā€™m currently browsing Arcadeshop.de and Iā€™d like to compare the two EU sellers before I even think about getting a fightstick and even think about modding it.

I used a razor blade to saw it off in between the 2 connectors from top . there is a good 3mm cleareance from the top till you can hit anything. The 5 pins are sitting near the bottom. Then you can slice both side lightly. Use a flat head to lift the connector while you pull it.

I need to know can I just buy the Sanwa stick and just replace the stick with the 8way movement and can i just pop it in and attach the wireā€™s and play i hate the square junk stick.

lizard lick are now selling Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK they say its just a drop in replace ment for the se stick BUT it doesnt come with a wiring harness???

Yes you can. Thereā€™s a series of youtube videos that show you how to do it (itā€™s done on a TE but most of it still applies)

From what I understand, all that means is it doesnā€™t come with the wire to connect it to your pcb. You can still use the old wire though

Need to ask a quick question. I used my friendā€™s TE stick the other day and loved it. What parts (stick and buttons) do I need to order to repllicate the TE stick exactly on my SE stick? Apologies if this has been asked before.

it has been asked before ā€¦

 1. post here:

Sanwa Joystick: JLF-TP-8YT or JLF-TP-8Y
Sanwa Buttons: OBSF-30

But which one does TE stick use, JLF-TP-8YT or JLF-TP-8Y? Thatā€™s what I meant.

Nikeking, please donā€™t quote imagesā€¦ Especially because they donā€™t even relate to your question.

Question: does opting for a LS-32-01 (S-plate) require anything special with the assembly?

appreciate it bro

jlf-tp-8yt-sk-w

it really doesnt matter ā€¦ they are all the same ā€¦ pcb rotated 90 lol rotate it yourself ā€¦
the only interesting is the ā€˜skā€™ for the shaft cover if you like one

Sorry if anyone was waiting for updates this weekend, I got swarmed with school work. Iā€™m still behind and trying to catch up so Iā€™ll update sometime this week when I have time.

Nikeking - Please donā€™t quote images, and the whole FAQ. It wastes a lot of space and had nothing to do with what you were even asking.

OK, thats all I needed to know, thanks for your help!

well after aweek of debating i finaaly opened the SE. so far no major issuesā€¦ the stick is starting to feel really looseā€¦ also harder to pull moves when on the left side, buttons are okā€¦

how is the feel between the jlf vs ls-32? the SE feels to looseā€¦ i see that you can do the mod to the jlf to stiffen the feelā€¦ but if the ls-32 is already stiff out the box that would be better imoā€¦

Iā€™ve blogged and made video about installing the Sanwa JLF-TP-8T including rotating the PCB 90 degrees counterclockwise. If anyoneā€™s still confused about it, check it out here. Since me ordering and receiving these parts, lizardlick has since added the correct stick model (JLF-TP-8YT-SK) to their lineup.
