Thanks Kraziepuma. That Ultimate mod seems a little too tight for me but I found another one called a âmedium springâ that seems right for me. If anyone else is interested the link is here:
Where did you get those sweet buttons?
The stick and buttons I got from http://akihabarashop.jp/ about 3 months ago so I could stick them in my HRAP2. I think LizardLick also carry them.
Do Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbuttons work? Theyâre screw ons, I know, but how would I go about installing those? Iâve never done any modding work. Whats different from the snap ins and the screw ins as far as installation. (I know the snap ins âsnap inâ and the screw ins âscrew inâ) But I need to know what I would do differently.
Hell yeah, I think I just might go ahead and Sanwa my SE stick out⌠thatâll save me from the problems people are having with the sticks.
just got my Seimitsu LS 32-02 and PS14 KN buttons. I like the setup a lot , the stick is much tighter and buttons are much quieter compare to the original SE parts. a few notes i would like to share.
-
cut the glue that surround the oringinal 5 pin connector. carefully remove the connector that is pluged in the original joystickâs pcb. Leave the wire harness aside as you can use the same wire haress for seimitsu and sanwa joystick. (never pull from the wire, only pull from the connector)
-
it takes about 1 min with a nail filer to sand down the buttonâs plastic nut. i filed the side of the nuts too so it will sit flushly around the hole.
-
on the new stick, remove blue restrictor plate (2 screws), and the 4 screws under it.
-
pull out pcb and mount the S-plate with the joystick assembly to the joystick mount with 4 screws.
-
Turn the pcb 90 degrees until the connector is facing the wall (same side as the original stick)
-
screw in the pcb back to the joystick and put the blu restrictor at last
-
flip the orignial 5 pin wire harness upside down and stick it into the new stick.
A good philip screw driver is recomended for this job and try not to over torque the 6 screws when you put the bottom cover back to the box as the screw threads are made of plastic.
Edit: after a day of use , i decide to remove the blue restrictor plate as i found it too obstrusive form my liking. After closely examined it, The plate is sticking out about 0.5mm from the inner guide on the corners.
The clear part is what I dontâ understand I only see basic buttons on their site.
Tried asking in another thread but didnât get a clear answer: is the PCB in the Fighsticks a common ground? If so, is there room to put another padâs PCB in it? I have a PS3 Fightstick and would like to mod it to work on my PS2 as well.
Am I missing the guide that shows how to replace the artwork for the SE Stick?
its cg ⌠someone put a cthulhu in his se âŚ
Instant reps for whoever can tell me the easiest way to get the damned e clip off the stock joystickâŚ
You would put the button through the hole and then fasten from the other side with the nut. The only issue youâll see is that the nut wonât clear the mounting bracket for the button closest to the joystick, so youâll have to file down the nut about 1mm. But that will install the same.
Itâs the PS-14-K-N, clear in color. The surround is clear and the button itself is white.
Cool. How about the space issue? Is there enough room to fit all the wires + terminals + PS1 (Digital M) PCB?
I havenât done it yet, been too busy. :crybaby:
Hello. I just finished swapping out the stock stick and buttons on my SE for Sanwa JLF and OBSF-30s. Truly easy upgrade! Thanks again to Mad Catz for making everything plug and play. The only issue (totally minor) was the screws that hold the generic stock stick to the mounting plate are too small for the holes on the JLF. I used 16-32 x screws for those interested. Heres a couple of pics. I went with a black ball-top and shaft cover, 6 grey/blk and 2 white buttons just to be different. Next for me is painting the cabinet shiny black lacquer and swapping out the stock art and and Im all set! Im sure this board will be the guiding light for that endeavor. ~PeAcE~
Surely I am not the only one who is having problems unscrewing the ball on the stick? It seems impossible, even with someone else holding the screwdriver.
EDIT:
I got it with the help of a friend and pliers
How did you cut the glue? I took a look inside of my friendâs SE and it seems impossible to get it off without damaging anything.
I used a small and very sharp knife on that connecter and just sawed back and forth a few times where the two pieces connected. Then I lifted the tab with a flathead screwdriver, and used pliers to pull the connector off.
