I wanted to use the Seimitsu 30mm Black Body with Colored Plunger screw in buttons on my stick. I know i can use them for all the buttons but im not sure about the light kick button, i heard the plate that the joysitck is mounted on gets in the way. it there anything i can do about this?
Hey guys, sorry to be a complete n00b or whatever, but I have some questions I would like directly answered. If they have been covered already I apologize.
- Can I use the cheap Happ sticks at the top of this page? I want a bat controller and I really donât want to spend a lot of money fixing my SE Fightstick.
http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/joysticks.shtml
- My stick isnât having any problems yet, but if it does start doing the thing where the washer eats into the PCB⌠can it still be modded? I guess I want to know if that damage is permanent or if itâs isolated to the stick itself (which would be removed).
Thank you guys in advance.
Nice guide.
The PCB that is getting damaged is part of the joystick assembly that youâd be replacing, so it can be shot completely to hell and the mod will work fine.
Happ sticks wonât fit in the FightStick. You can get a Sanwa or Seimitsu stick and put a bat top on it though.
Any damage the washer caused would be isolated to the joystick PCB, which youâre removing anyway.
Youâll have to sand down the screw to fit. The Seimitsu screws are made of a really soft plastic so itâs easy to do. Instead of putting the button in place then securing with the nut, youâll have to put the nut in place and screw in the button. Takes maybe an extra 3 mins of effort to do.
anyone successfully installed a seimitsu ls-56-01?
I was wondering about this too⌠iirc, in one of the comments on ShinJNâs youtube tech review videos he said the mounting plate doesnât match up, but I was wondering if you could just swap it out for the mounting plate of the ls-32
Kind of an odd question, but just how dark blue are Sanwaâs Dark Blue buttons? I found this pic http://www.thebbps.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/chun-li.jpg in my internet travels and when even I get around to modding my stick Iâd like to use that as artwork.
Will dark blue Sanwas go with that color scheme? All the pictures I find of them make the buttons look purple.
thanks for clearing it up, hopefully iâd be able to get my hands on the TE⌠if not i guess iâll have to make do with the modded SE
Hi all, first time posting here, I bought the JLW-UM-8 stick from Lizardlick.com and realized that you guys are all talking about JLW-UM-8Y or JLW-UM-8TY etc. I was wondering if JLW-UM-8 will still work for this modification. I saw the description and figured that I will never ever want to switch to a 4 way so I just got the JLW-UM-8 without having to worry about rotating etc.
Please let me know asap so I can probably return the part.
Okay I read about 6 or so pages before my head started spinning with all the different serials and stuff for parts; so if possible for me can someone list:
A set of buttons to buy (by set I mean just give me the serial)
A set stick to buy (the whole thing, with the gate and all)
Also i had one quick question that I didnât see anyone ask in the first few pages; i read in another post that the SE comes with 28mm button holes; but sanwaâs were 30mm; true? False? Doesnât matter?
Thereâs actually nothing wrong with my SE, but Iâd like to upgrade it anyway, so that I donât have to worry about anything being wrong.
Got all my bits in today⌠Iâm so psyched. It looks great! The only thing missing is a black shaft cover for the JLF, which should be coming soon.
Donât knock my bat⌠I grew up in American arcades. I tried the ball and square gate, but just didnât couldnât get into either so Iâve got a bat and octo gate now, though I might swap that to a circle.
If the 8 button layout gets cumbersome (though it hasnât so far) Iâve got a couple plugs standing buy.
Previously in this thread I had asked for measurements on the back buttons (before I had my stick) and someone had said they were 24mm. This is not so⌠theyâre not even 18, more like 10 at most. This is for the PS3 version, I donât know if there is a difference for the 360.
Excellent thanks so much for making this thread. I canât wait to get my parts.
Iâll be making my own stick based off of the SE design only because Iâve never made my own stick. Iâll be making the buttons the same size, spaced out exactly the same. This applies to the joystick as well. Iâll be pad hacking a wired xbox 360.
The questions I have are these:
1.) Would it be better to use a semi-thin piece of wood for the top, and buy screw-in buttons (as opposed to snap-ins)? Or should I cut a rectangle shape (like the SE edition) and use the type of metal/plastic they use, and cut the buttons off of that? In short, cut holes into wood or cut into the metal/plastic? And if it is better to cut a rectangle, what kind of material is it that they have? Is it a kind of metal or plastic? Where could I get it? Whatâs it called? I would like to add artwork in between it.

2.) Iâm going to buy a Sanwa JLF joystick with the flat mounting plate. So itâs going to be screwed in from the inside (as opposed to some joysticks I have seen that screw from the outside. In the SE stick, there is a metal plate that is burnt into the metal/plastic part with the hole in it. It has two holes on the top and bottom to screw in the mounting plate. Where can I get this extra plate that HOLDS the mounting plate of the joystick? I figured I could put two thin pieces of wood and glue them to support the mounting plate of the JLF, but I donât know. Any suggestions as to how I could screw in the Sanwa JLF without having the screws pop out on the other side? Could I screw in from the outside with the points going in?

3.) I have to add a guide and start button. I want to do it from the side, but realized I have no clue how I would hold them in place. I need help on this. If I find out what kind of material that metal/plastic stuff is, Iâm assuming I can put a piece of that on the side and cut a rectangle into the wood, make the 3mm circles and done!
4.) Because I am pad-hacking, I would like to run a headset extension from the inside to out. What kind of extension do I need? I figured I could use the one that came with the SE stick. The small black one. What size jack is it?
Very dumbed down only because I really want to make my own stick. Iâll be modding my SE stick with sanwa parts, but iâll be ordering a whole other set to make my own. Please help!
looking forward to a nice vid tutorial on how to MODD SE stick with JFL and sanwa pushbuttonsâŚ
great read! more pics would help alot
u know for the quick disconnects, did u have any trouble with some of the buttons?? cause only the LT quick disconnects come out fine, the rest are fucking tight as a bitch. how do i take them out without damaging anything?
I have actually ordered all that already, but I have never even heard of this âspring modâ you speak of. Could you or any other kind forum member point me in the right direction on performing this mod? Thanks in advance.
