Yeah, my parts will be coming in tomorrow, and I have never opened or modded a stick before, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
:u: Iād suggest just using your palm and pressing down on the button till it snaps, then check to make sure its flush and all the way down.
Basically thats the only difference, get yourself the JLF-TP-8YT and save yourself some trouble.
Seimitsu sells the bubbletops, theyāll fit on Sanwa sticks.
excellent, thanks Sileighty
Still waiting for a tutorial for this =D
Yea Iāve seen that, but as a noob what do I need to unscrew to do so? Do I have to take the stick off the mounting plate? Can it be done without doing so? Wouldnāt rotate just the PCB mess up the control ie: pressing down makes you go up?
With SFIV out im sure this forum is flooded with noobs wanting to know.
I picked up a PS3 SE Fightstick. Is it possible to mod this easily to work on 360 down the line or should I have picked up a 360 stick and modded it to work on PS3?
Thanks,
Y2J
We all know that the SE components are perhaps sub par and should be switched out for optimum experience, but what about the main PCB board (if thatās what itās called)? Do you think that the main part of the stick will last a long time?
I suppose I imagine it like adding amazing tires and a body chassis to a car, but then having a rubbish engine.
here the first 20 seconds of this video shows you how:
hope that helps
Question:
How does the area of the gate that comes with the SE compare to that of the Sanwa or Seimitsu sticks?
Thatās a good question, but I doubt anyone can supply a good answer to that as I donāt think you can measure the build quality of a PCB with anything else other than time. I will say this. Alot of the people around here use Mad Catz PCBs in their custom stick mods so Iād imagine thatās a good sign.
yeah, I was just thinking about that part with the directions being messed up. The rotating of the pcb I think is just as easy as they describe it in that faq (take off the plastic gate, then just pull off and rotate the pcb. The video the other guy linked you to shows how easily it comes off. Not sure about the direction stuff though, maybe you have to do some other wiring?..
On a separate note-
Some people have been complaining about the square gate in the TE version. The stick in that is a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK-W- does anyone know if that one has a gate that can just be rotated to 8-way just like the other JLFs? I would think so, but I havenāt seen it mentioned yet.
Sound easy. Just gotta wait for Chad @ LizardLick to ship my stuff and try it out. Thanks
SE buttons vs Sanwa buttons
Iām definitely doing a joystick swap on my SE to a Sanwa JLF but in your opinion how much better are the Sanwa 30mm buttons compared to the SEās?
Iām thinking joystick first then the button a month or two from now.
I havenāt used the SE, but from what Iāve read they are madcatz own generic version, which I canāt imagine would be much better than generic hori buttons, and sanwa buttons are much better than those for sure. Just based on that, I think the sanwas will feel much better than the stock SE buttons.
Yep, they are generic madcatz buttons. If you have to choose, then Iād say replace the joystick first, imo.
thanks for the great post gona use this to mod my SE stick
Thanks for the great post.
Am I any better off getting this and moding it with Sanwa parts over just getting the tournament edition in the first place? I havenāt modded a stick before, and the cost of the buttons and joystick upgrades would cost me $75 (Canadian) and getting the tournament edition in the first place is only another $100.
Thoughts?
If you have to ask whether or not to get a TE stick that means you probably wont be able to get your hands on one for at least a month.
Unless you donāt mind getting scalped on Ebay
So basically if Iāve followed everything correctly the real arcade parts mod for the SE would be something like:
akihabarashop.jp
1 x JLF-TP-8YT
6 x OBSF-30 (white)
2 x OBSF-30 (black)
Products 4,255
Inc. Shipping 5,175 = 55,21US$ = 43,98 atm
*Is this correct? Cause the description for GT-Y says āOctagonal restrictor for JLF-TP-8Yā but lizardlick says itās standard for JLF series.
*
EDIT: Stupid meā¦ now I get it. My only real question now is JLF-TP-8T ot 8YT? Iām sure this question has been addressed several timesā¦ but I canāt really search and navigate the forums at their current overpopulated state.
I thought the stick you mentioned there already has a 4/8 way switchable gate, why do you need the GT-Y?
Also, if the TE edition has the exact same parts as the arcade as they say, then wouldnāt the real arcade part for the stick be the JLF-TP-8YT-SK-W?
