Can’t wait for the sequel.
haha funny stuff
this mindcube game is FRUSTRATING… i got to level 10 and just… stopped lol i’ll play it more when i get home
what’s up tonight?
Truth. I think I spent the most time on level 12. After that, while difficulty goes up, so does familiarity. Though I did find it frustrating working with the 8x8 cube using a touchpad.
What is up tonight!
I’m smoking for sure tonight, been a long while…like Thursday…and that barely counts because Toronto herb is gaaaaaaarbage.
If people aren’t all in Brockville, holla.
Gta4 released tonight, who wants to sell people!
Mmm, hookers and glocks, what could be better?
In other news: Forbidden City. I wanna go check it out on Wednesday. Anyone down? 6PM +
"----THIS IS NOT THE ‘DON’T BUY’ GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $.90 PER LITRE…hopefully
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Haliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this PLEASE.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the ‘don’t buy gas on a certain day’ campaign that was going around last April or May!
It’s worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!
I hear we are going to hit close to $ 2…00 a litre by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn’t continue to ‘hurt’ ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you’re probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $1.17 for regular unleaded in my town.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre of gas is CHEAP at $1.14, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace…not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can’t just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here’s the idea: For the rest of this year, DON’T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies, ESSO and SHELL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and Shell gas buyers. It’s really simple to do! Now, don’t wimp out on me at this point…keep reading and I’ll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) … and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)…and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it… THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That’s all!
(If you don’t understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people… Well, let’s face it, you just aren’t a mathematician. But I am… so trust me on this one.
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all in. I suggest that we not buy from Esso and Shell UNTIL 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
I’ll bet you didn’t think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO BELOW THE $1.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
Please pass this on."
What do you mathematicians/busines/finance majors think?
the price of gas comes from the oil distributors which are all just one giant company.
all the gas companies in canada buy their gas from the same supplier.
that strategy is just as ineffective.
ya. 12 was a real bitch, but it made every following one so easy.
But obviously Shell and Esso want to sell their gas… I think they definitely took your fact into consideration when they were planning this idea out. They aren’t that ill-informed.
I’m gonna do it. I’m also gonna talk my driving friends into doing it. Thanks Ryad! :woot:
forest (and all who are intersted): Ever heard of Stan Meyer? He invented the water-powered vehicle decades ago. Look him up. Here’s a quick youtube search – http://youtube.com/watch?v=qZ4NGAmTjrU
A better one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8stApCmxYEM
Here’s another quick search result for water power since Stan’s assasination: http://youtube.com/watch?v=CMovXzVOzc4
Wikipedia Stan Meyer and you’ll see the full diagram of his water-powered fuel cell invention.
It’s not like any of the “underdog” gas retailers have significantly different prices. What usually happens is that they offer full service at no extra charge. The gas prices aren’t set by the individual gas companies, it’s a higher power involved.
Someone is saying gas prices are fixed. Notice how the only way Shell and Esso compete is by offering different discounts/deals/services etc.
boycotting the shell and esso is still giving the same money to the same oil producer and won’t affect prices at all.
Let them jack up the gas prices. If it keeps up, more and more people will use public transport as an economical alternative. In turn, public transport will become faster and more efficient with regards to moving the populace. The gas/oil companies will be shooting themselves in the foot.
I concur the best way to fight the price is to take public transit/car pool/walk/bike/etc. aka stop buying gas period.
Yeah. Its happened before. OPEC limits production significantly and raise their prices. As a result that lead to the boom in home insulation and energy effeciency-related products. They shot themselves in the foot before. I wonder if they would do the same mistake again. Which is why I am wondering whether this increase in prices of crude oil is due to outside geopolitical shifts and their consequent reduction in oil production, or OPEC performing their antics again. Or Both. At least were not in the UK where the gas tax is huge compared to what we have in Canada.
Even if this thing I receieved in my email is a solution it is definately a short term one. The longer-term solution is greater efficiency and reduced dependecy as Silent Sam mentioned. Even further into the future, the only viable solution seems to be complete independence from fossil fuels. That seems so far away, and even if that were the case, we dont know how expensive the alternatives might be.
Edit: Still. Let’s say no one buys from Esso. What do you guys think will happen to Esso and the other companies in Canada? If the pattern mentioned in the email doesn’t follow what does?
the demand for oil isn’t going to change as long as people drive their cars. so if esso loses business, someone else is goign to have to gain it and the oil companies will still be reaping the benefits of increased oil prices. to fight the prices you need to fight the source, and people need to realize it’s not esso or shell or any gas distributor that’s the cause it’s the producer.
It would be like boycotting wal mart trying to fight coca cola.
I’m down for something tonight, but preferably something not involving gobs of cash, as I’m broke till Wednesday
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ^______________^
EDIT: P.s. I NEED EVERYONE to help me out with something. I need a group photo of the crew for my yearbook… so I’d REALLY appreciate it if we could all have a big get-together of everyone and I could get a group photo. PLEASE lol thanks <33
none of us go to your school so why would we belong in your yearbook?
Good insight Khiem.
It’s an important note to not isolate the Oil distributers into the Oil category because their money and influence is all over the place. So oil prices can go up, and people can stop buying by a significant amount and that doesn’t neccesarily mean it’s something they don’t want. Massive spider web, and really the only solution is drastic revolt.
John D. Rockefeller’s oil production sub division Exxon Mobil are laughing big time at the moment by the way. Exxon produced the biggest profit by any U.S. company last year (breaking it’s OWN record of course) and it looks like they are actually going to bust that up again this year with the fisrt quarter sales being the best quarter ever.
Exxon, and remember it’s a just one of many of Rockefeller’s outlets of domination, gross was higher than all but the top 24 GDP’s of the countries in this world.
It’s getting ridiculous. Poor mother earth…but it’s ok because we’ll balance it out with Earth hour . Oh wait, that doesn’t even do anything.
Chevron, which is Exxon’s bitch essentially, had triple the increase in profit percentages.
I agree I’m DEFINETLY taking the bus more often this summer. Fuck them, I like my money and righteously we should all refuse to drive period. Fuck these gas powered cars. I would pick apart forrests post (way too conclusive and inconsiderate of development with interest + there are like 1000 other solutions) but I don’t have time. IMO the high gas prices is just making a massive, gigantic problem more obvious. The hole is too deep and we are pretty much fucked until they find a solution in order to dodge potential revolt.
because it’s a personal yearbook? it’s my cpt
Think about it this way:
Where is the flaw in this logic?
I am not very informed about the business model of the oil industry, and this may seem overly simplistic with my limited knowledge of the subject matter, it seems that it would work as long as the public buy from Esso at a compromised price (Cheap, but not cheap enough for Esso to go bankrupt). Taking away the flaws, like the need to have a centralized public structure that decides what that price is, mobilizing the population to perform a certain action etc… How is it not feasible.
Of course, I am not sure how OPEC and non-OPEC oil sources that provide oil to Canadian companies would react to that. Also, as I mentioned earlier, this obviously not the long-term solution, and will not strike at the core of the problem. But I see no flaw in this logic, unless I am missing something. Which is where I want people knowledgable in this subject matter to point out the exact flaw if there is one… who is the ultimate controller of price? The buyer or the seller?
