Think about it this way:

• People stop buying Esso fuel.
• Esso in order to make up for the loss in demand, lower their prices.
• People start buying from Esso (because it is cheaper than the others now).
• Note: If Esso raises prices in response to an increase in demand, people stop buying Esso. This forces Esso to keep their prices low.
• Other companies start to lose revenue because most people are buying from Esso.
• Other companies forced to lower prices to compete.

Where is the flaw in this logic?
I am not very informed about the business model of the oil industry, and this may seem overly simplistic with my limited knowledge of the subject matter, it seems that it would work as long as the public buy from Esso at a compromised price (Cheap, but not cheap enough for Esso to go bankrupt). Taking away the flaws, like the need to have a centralized public structure that decides what that price is, mobilizing the population to perform a certain action etc… How is it not feasible.

Of course, I am not sure how OPEC and non-OPEC oil sources that provide oil to Canadian companies would react to that. Also, as I mentioned earlier, this obviously not the long-term solution, and will not strike at the core of the problem. But I see no flaw in this logic, unless I am missing something. Which is where I want people knowledgable in this subject matter to point out the exact flaw if there is one… who is the ultimate controller of price? The buyer or the seller?

The more likely scenario is:

-People dont buy from esso
-People switch to other gas provider
-Other gas provider cannot keep up with demand(because they buy gas based on a certain quota.I dont think they choose.I heard there is a limit as to how much one can buy in a quarter and thats how shit like this is kept under control.)
-Other gas provider must either wait for next quarter or buy from Esso who as shitloads because nobody bought their gas
-Esso makes even more money because the demand is so high.

^ lol that makes a lot of sense… that is the missing element. The quota element. I am sure there are more. If that is true then yeah, that plan is total failure.

If they can, however, get as much as they ask for, it is still viable as I am sure the providers wont hesitate to sell more oil to the other companies. You are only boycotting one. I am sure the extra demand spread out to the other companies won’t result in an empty tank, especially in the long run.

Esso doesn’t control the price. I thought that was exceedingly obvious with the price being the same no matter who sells it all over the city.

Esso does not control the price of the crude oil which they buy. I am pretty sure they control the price of the oil they bought from their suppliers and which they are going to sell. The prices are (pretty much) the same because of competition not because they cant control the price. How much they allow the price to fluctuate from the base price from which they buy it from, I don’t know.

Soft drinks are pretty much the same price. I guess that means the soft drink companies dont control the price either.

all the gas companies in canada buy their gas from the same supplier.

But obviously Shell and Esso want to sell their gas… I think they definitely took your fact into consideration when they were planning this idea out. They aren’t that ill-informed.

I had no idea that Tekken was so much fun.

What do you think the chances are that we get TTT2 at the arcade? What characters do you think will be in it? Do you think they’ll bring back True Ogre?

So it took me like half an hour to solve 19-21. 19 was a bitch the next two were easy. 22 looks kind of annoying.
