The Houyoko sen April Ottawa Thread

This anime is not about the action.I think they did that part just to attract attention. After this is just becomes the story of that girl trying to make sense of her existence.Did I enjoy it?Somewhat.Do I recommend it?Not if you dont know anything about the City Hunter universe.Kaori’s death isnt that much of a shock if u have no clue who she is.

Edit: Someone give me a link to mind cube.

oh, so there is a prelude to this?

And if its not action, what should I expect? More of a serious undertone or comedy?

I eat breakfast at noon on weekends.

yeah I figured as much

Finished Mind Cube!

marvellllllllllll

me and myles are coming after we close up, get ready for a beasting!.

Dude, there are about 10 pages devoted to why water will never replace oil.

The idea is exciting because the only by-product of burning hydrogen is water vapor (good VS global warming). And Hydrogen is also a superabundant chemical element. It would be nice, neat, and simple if all the powered infrastracture and equipment of our society could simply switch to hydrogen, but its not going to happen.

A single fuel cell is basically a piece of plastic between a couple of carbon plates that are sandwiched between two end plates acting as electrodes. These plates have channels that distribute the fuel and oxygen. They are modular and can be stacked to produce different amounts of power. Fuel cells can operate at efficiencies two to three times that of the internal combustionm engine, and require no moving parts, and so on.
Fuel cells have been around a long time. Sir William Robert Grove demonstrated the process in 1839. In the late 1950s, NASA began to build a compact fuel cell electricity generator for use on space stations. Cost was not a constraint. The fuel cells and hydrogen to run them weighed much less than batteries, an important consideration when firing loads into space on rockets. Later, in manned spacecraft, the astronauts could also drink the water that the fuel cells produced.

There is no question that there are fuel cells and that they work. But huge and confounding questions arise over the economics of hydrogen. The problem is that hydrogen is not exactly a fuel. Its more accurately a carrier energy than a fuel. It takes more energy to manufacture hydrogen than the hydrogen produces. So at this time hydrogen production depends on the other known energy sources that are all problematic for one reason or another: oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear, hydro, solar, biomass, wind. To some extent, the term hydrogen economy, is a disguise for nuclear economy, because nuclear energy may be the advanced societies only realistic resort where large-scale electric generation is concerned, and the subtext is that an expanded and updated array of nuclear plants could produce large amounts of hydrogen economically.

By splitting the Hydrogen from the Oxygen in water, yes, hydrogen can be produced. However, there are many problems, like with storage and transport. The extremely low density of hydrogen, given its low atomic weight, means that it takes up a lot of space. In cars it has to be compressed and stored in high density tanks. The “fuel” tank would take up most of the space in the car. Compressing the gas takes a lot of energy in itself: an additional cost. To make a hydrogen fuel cell car with the same range as today’s gasoline-powered car, with comparable passenger room, would require storing the hydrogen at 10,000 pounds per square inch (psi), which is ultrahigh pressure. This can be done, using wltrastrong carbon fibers to reinforce the tanks. Such a tank might even survive a high-speed crash. The question is whether the more delicate plumbing connections from the tank would survive. If not, hydrogen under extremely high pressure would excape rapidly. Hydrogen is extremely flammable. Hydrogen-and-air mixtures combust over a wide range of concentrations from 4% to 75%, and will be detonated by very low energy inputs less than one-tenth the energy needed to ignite air and gasoline. Because hydrogen produces considerable heat at decompression, it could self-ignite in a crash as the gas rushed out of tank through broen valves.

Hydrogen also leaks easily. It is hard to contain due to its low atomic weight and can escape through very small openings.

Hydrogen is also extremely corrosive. It likes to combine with other elements and compounds. The interior of the storage tanks, the pipe connections, the valves, and the seals would all be subject to much more rapid disintegration than is the case with gases such as methane. Also unlike gasoline, which is a liquified at a regular air temperature, compressed gases are difficult to transfer from one vessel to another. To get hydrogen from stationary supply tanks to vehicle tanks would take additional energy.

Transportation by truck would be a lot harder. Also, accidents do happen.
Bossel and Eliasson wrote:
A mid-size filling station on any frequented freeway easily sells 25 tons of fuel each day. This fuel can be delivered by one 40-ton gasoline truck. But it would need 21 hydrogen trucks to deliver the same amount of energy to the station, i.e., to provide fuel for the same number of cars per day. Efficient fuel cell vehicles would change this number somewhat but not considerably. The transfer of pressurized hydrogen from the truck to the filling station takes much more time than draining gasoline from the tanker into an underground storage tank. The filling station may have to close operations during some hours of the day for safety reasons. Today about one in 100 trucks is a gasoline or diesel tanker. For hydrogen distributed by road one may see 120 trucks, 21 [of which] or 17 percent of them transpost hydrogen. One out of six accidents involving trucks would involve a hydrogen truck. This scenario is unacceptable for political and social reasons.

Pipelines for hydrogen transport would encounter many problems with leakage and corrosion.

make me some money!!!

have fun

ill be back in town on mon night

City Hunter is the story of Saeba Ryo and Kaori, his partner’s little sister. The manga is hilarious although a bit toned down in terms of nudity and violence for the anime( which chuck full of fillers by the way).Best character development i’ve seen so far. This is still my all time favorite series.
Angel Heart happens in some sort of parallel universe.Lots of details are changed, lots of events occurred differently from what we know in City Hunter. So overall to understand Angel heart it isnt necessary to have known City hunter, but there are vibes you get from this anime that I believe you wont experience if you are not familiar with City Hunter.
Angel heart is drama basically.Lots of weeping.Lots of talk about love and yadayadayada. Some action here and there.Overall really wouldnt recommend if ur not a fan of this type of anime or of the series.

WHERE DO I FIND MIND CUBE???

i just went back a couple pages and found the link.

For anyone who cared about my status: Circumstances have me back home in the middle of nowhere for an indefinite amount of time. I know I pretty much never hit the arcade in the last couple months, mostly due to the lack of a bus pass. But you guys won’t care if I keep posting, right?

I need to take up GGPO, I just need to double-check the router here, it sorta double-sucks.

Also, reposted for this page: http://www.shockwave.com/contentPlay/shockwave.jsp?id=hyperframe

you’ve got too much time on your hands.

iv’e spent the last hour or so solving 13-18

i’m on 19 now. i’ll deal with it again later today. (aka after i get some sleep go to work go to the cave and come back home again).

Yo Dave wont be going to Brockville today. Trying to make it there for 9 is too early for me. Ill go next time

This forum is experiencing such waves…

From the clock tower, to “N+++++”, to Brockville/Mind… you people are interesting, from a sociological perspective :wgrin:

I tried Mindcube for the fuck of it, the first 11 were cake, 12 is a bit more challenging due to more possibilities of routes, but Im gonna try and finish it soon just so I can say I did… its a good game tho.

talk to narith, i know jon and dee wanna go so.

ya 11 was fun, 12 was a challenge, 13 was a challenge 14 was simple, 15 was a challenge, 16, 17 and 18 were all simple. 19 is a bit of a bitch though.

I’m fucking amped to go home and finish them up though.
