The Houyoko sen April Ottawa Thread

Fuck whatever CMX did with the project in the anime adaptation.
The manga is just ridiculously good.
The determinism angle. Fucking Bunshichi, who is just die-laughing funny in general.
The overall development of the characters, not to mention the near-Hellsing quality of art (after volume 3… I wasn’t really sold on this til volume 4 to be honest).
No seriously, what issue could you possibly have with this series as a manga?

I finished Vagabond, I’m up to date with Blade of the Immortal, I want to start Eden but I know it’s a relatively heavier read so I’m not giving it the go til I’m real good and free-time-y, but what exactly are your issues with TT as a manga?

Nothing new story wise for one.The plot is VERY slow moving. The characters are indeed “well developed”.Its very distracting, especially in the manga. How are women supposed to fight with a physique like that?Art wise yes,its amazing both anime and manga.Overall it isnt a bad manga.Just not one I would rate as great or recommend easily.

Took a Tekken break (“Tekken a Break”? :lame::rofl:) and continued to read a good book. It’s called, The Long Emergency and is written by James Howard Kunstler. It is all about how the world has passed “peak” production of oil and how the human race will need to cope with the end of oil. It is both scary and funny (ironically so).

He says that Hydrogen powered cars are a fantasy.
Coal may be the new oil.
Wind Power is important, as well as Hydroelectric.
Solar Power will probably not be economical enough to be a practical energy resource.
:annoy:
Renewing old human waste (garbage) in to new oils is not profitable/economical long-term.

And, basically, that the whole “North American Way Of Life” will need to change to more closely mirror Europeans. Things will need to be within walking distance (to prevent dependance on cars), and public transit will need to take a center role. Oh, and one last thing.

Nuclear Power is the Way of the Future! :lovin::lovin:

CB and I are gonna be running the Brockville cafe today? im in ottawa now, anyone wanna come down there with me and play some games?

I do. When are you leaving? and when do you intend to come back?

forest… I dont know economics or energy very well, but I dont agree with what I read about that book… coal is such a thing of the past that bringing it back would be totally stupid and harmful to the environment. I dont think people would accept that idea. Nuclear sounds more likely, but given the direction and progress of science and technology, I think we’re quickly finding new environmentally-friendly ways to produce energy. At least 10 years ago, a man found a way to run cars on simply water. Its really amazing what some awesome good-minded young scientists are coming up with every month.

RANBAT: When and where?

I wanna include SF2. I’ve NEVER played you guys at it, and my bro and I have played the shit out of it since we were 10.

anyone up for sports next weekend if it’s not snowing (lol)?

Tenjou Tenge is fucking lame ass shit.

it’s just thinly veiled fan service glazed over a cliche and boring story. I watched like, 10 episodes of the anime, and it just kept getting worse. It’s a very shallow sort of story and there really isn’t anything about that I consider redeeming. All the characters are more caricatures and they behave in ways that is just… pointless.

Don’t get me wrong, I like fan service as much as the next guy, and there are some fine ass kung fu bimbos in the story, but other than that, TT is garbage.

Glad you enjoyed it, Henri.

Actually, I called your cell. No answer.

Yeah, the anime was ‘meh’ as far as I was concerned. Some cool fighting scenes, but it didn’t seem like it was headed in any particular direction. I’ll give the manga a try.

I started watching something called ‘Glass Heart’, Robleh.
Mid-way through, I think “Wait a minute, I’ve seen this before. This is the City Hunter Robleh was talking about”. So I kept watching, to the point where this lady…
Jumped on top a car.
The guy inside started driving away.
She started cutting out the roof with a knife.
She pulled out the roof.
He aimed the gun at her.
She took it away.
He is distracted, so he crashes into a store.
She jumped off so she is fine.
The guy inside tries to get out from the open roof.
She takes out her gun and shoots the fuel tank on the car once.
The car explodes.
The explosion causes the guy who was trying to escape from the roof to fly into the sky and land on top of another car safely.
She points the gun at him and interrogates him.

Should I keep watching this?

Yes. Vagabond looked very appealing to me. How is it?
Blade of the Immortal anime adaptation
I fear they will not do it any justice…

bring ps2 and sticks and games

do the randbat here, this place is beasting

… exactly why I said I don’t consider the anime in my assessment of the series.
Manga, dammit, manga.

Yeah no seriously, the manga really starts at about vol 3.
I liked it.

Anyone manage to beat mind cube? I’m at 36 at the moment

my cell is off, if you want to call me, the number for the brockville arcade(Sequence cyber cafe) is 613 865 8204
