The Horror Thread: Talk all things macabre

Altered States is pretty fucked up. I had it on DVD until a friend borrowed it and lost it.

Yeah in some ways i can see where they could be coming from, i to enjoyed alot of hr2 but to much of it baffles me, i’ve not read the books (i’m assuming it’s what it’s based off) and for the last say 40 minutes i was left scratching my head, i guess if you try not to think about it too much you can enjoy it more

Yeah bride of reanimator aint too bad, it’s certainly no basketcase

Yeah, that was awesome for a budget film. Fuckin’ rats, yo.

Love B&W and Vintage Horror films.

B&W Horror is great, Silent era up to Universal’s dominance and the like.

Anything with Karloff, Price, Cushing or Lee is automatically viable as well. Could be the shittiest low budget film and they will carry it to a watchable level.

American Horror Story: The Asylum is shaping up well, although it’s had about seventeen teasers so far. Seems to be quite an overload.

Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake got it’s U.S. Distribution rights set-up. I had no idea this was actually going to be a thing, already know this will be a letdown but maybe it will expose more people to the original or the idea.

I would not say it’s going to be a letdown.
Spike has been attached to it a long seems he’s really passionate about the project.

watching the old HBO spawn animated series, love this show.
IMO it’s the height of American animation.
The grit of the show seeps though every scene.

Ordered the graphic novel of the first ten or so issues to try and get back into Spawn in general and I’m checking near daily for a update on the movie reboot.

Last I heard lionsgate was looking into it.

Recent horror likes.
Kill list and I saw the devil.

Both great movies for their own merits.

Have not really seen anything else recent.

Hammer films just made a YouTube channel to release some of the older movies in their library.

Someone mentioned land of the dead, which was quite honestly a embarrassment considering the cast and budget.

On the plus side the fan edit actually turned it into a really good movie.

Kinda a pain in the ass to track down tho.

Fucking James Rolfe making me wanna see all these goddamn movies like Humanoids From The Deep

Thought this movie was so-so. Only really like this part.

Scene of the mental patient having a serious Identity disorder of 4 identities including herself.

Marry (Herself), other 2 (Billy, Princess), last was Simon. In the end Simon finally talks. Furthermore Marry has no knowledge of the 3 other identites.

Anyone seen The Possession? The jewish exorcism one, not the Sam Neill one(that movie’s fucked up). I might wanna check it out but with super low expectations lol

General opinion is skip it, kind of a waste of time.

Also what a big surprise, Rob Zombie’s new film is another art-house piece with a horrible story and trotting pace.

These are pretty cool.

aight, skippin it then

not sure what to watch this weekend… maybe a horror anthology

Only B/W horror movie stands out more then the rest is Eraser Head. The whole movie just fucks with you

Has anyone played Slender? I tried last night, but my system is old as fuck and my graphics cards was having problems playing it…

Memories…

What is your opinion of Insidious?

Personally, it scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it. A lot of it is also funny as hell but after watching it the second time, it loses a LOT of it’s punch. You realize that the acting is shoddy as hell. But I did love the fact that they didn’t blow the budged on special effects.

I’m looking for a good, honest to goodness scary horror movie. Not a fan of blood and guts however. Not saying that they gross me out (though Human Centipede 2 shits all over Saw and Hostel). But I want something that gets under your skin. Ghost and supernatural stuff I like.

Speaking of ghosts, what do you think of Ghost Adventures? Out of the 5 million ghost hunting shows on TV, GA is probably the best. Even if Zak is a douche and a half. Matter of fact, they had an episode in downtown Los Angeles at this place called The Pico House. One of the oldest structures in LA. They told the history of the place and said that back in the late 1800’s, there was some sort of riot between the Chinese and white people which resulted in 18 people dying. Anyway, the Pico House is haunted. Ghost Adventures makes it clear that whenever a place is haunted, you can feel some sort of bad vibes.

So I walk around the front (or at least the side with the plaza) and I got this horrible feeling of dread. Like I felt that something bad happened in front of that place. I quickly walked away from it because I felt like if I didn’t leave, something bad was going to happen. Not a nice feeling.

Insidious cracked me up. I was flabbergasted when I found out that it has a pretty decent reputation among horror-heads.

Insidious was hilarious. I found myself howling with laughter. I did like the fact though that it didn’t relay on crazy special effects like a lot of today’s movies. It felt much older than what it is. Like a horror movie from the 1960’s.

gonna watch The Shaft (its available on YT) tonight… killer elevators ftw

Just saw V/H/S. As someone who hates found footage style, and about 95% of all horror movies made in the last 10 years, this one had some genuine grit and uncomfortableness about it. The second story in particular is seriously fucked up and it made me feel the same way I did when I first that Chechen soldier video from about 10 years ago.

Something bad will happen.
Your vagina will fall out.
